Theater deserves local support

Dear Editor:
I was saddened to read the interview in the Feb. 1 issue of the Aurora News-Register  concerning the possible closure of 12th Street Cinema in the rather near future.
I know it’s easy to sit at home and watch a movie on a streaming service but for me, nothing replicates the experience of a movie on a giant screen with surround sound. Also, the feeling of community, enjoying a movie with fellow Aurorans is special and worth the effort.
I hear people lament a lack of entertainment options in our community, yet when we have such a fine facility as 12th Street Cinema, it goes begging for patronage.
I would strongly encourage everyone to give our theatre a new lease on life by attending the movies shown each weekend and supporting a fine medium of entertainment for Aurora.
