Kaminski/Nielsen win Poco Creek member/guest title
A record 40 teams compete in weekend event
Dan Kaminski and Jared Nielsen won championship honors of the annual Member/Guest Tournament held this weekend at Poco Creek Golf Course in Aurora.
The winning team advanced from 27 holes of pool play Saturday, which began with a record 40 two-man teams.
“Every year since we’ve done this new format we’ve had more teams,” said Adam Darbro, club president. “I think we’ve reached our peak with 40 teams having a 9-hole course. The feedback we’ve had is that people had a blast and they love the format. Chad (Svoboda) and Curran (Vetter) do a nice job running it and I think things ran pretty smooth.”
The weather was ideal all weekend long. The tournament began with a practice round Friday, followed by competitive golf Saturday and Sunday.
