The News-Register is Hamilton County’s primary media source. It also offers a full-service print shop including color business forms as well as signs and banners, photo copy service and laminating. The office is open Monday-Friday from 8 am to 5 pm at 1320 K Street.
The first newspaper of record in Hamilton County dates back to 1873. Three newspapers existed at one point, and in 1942 the two remaining Republican-Register and Aurora News were merged into the Aurora News-Register. Kurt and Paula Johnson purchased the publication from R.L. Butch Furse in 2000.
The News-Register was one of the first weekly newspapers in Nebraska to post a website in 1995, and now shares information in a variety of digital platforms including Facebook, X, Instagram, mobile and our e-edition, which lets readers view the entire printed product from any digital device.
