Annual TDLC car show ‘a tribute to Roger’
Main Street in Hampton was filled with classic cars, people and a sense of community Friday night during the annual TDLC Cruise Night, carrying on a tradition created by the late Roger Bamesberger.
The show’s founder passed away in May, though family and friends were committed to keep it going in Roger’s honor.
“I miss Dad, but this is a nice way to honor him because I was here when we first started 21 years ago and I remember it was like 20 cars,” said Danielle Bamesberger, who helped organize this year’s show. “It’s grown to normally around 200 cars and I’m not sure where we’re at tonight, but it’s fun for everybody and I think it’s a great way to honor Dad.”
Frew fosters love of baseball with Sodbusters
Aurora resident and vocal music instructor Jason Frew wears many hats, including that of on-field personality for the Hastings Sodbusters. The summer college league in Hastings is home to a collection of various D-1 and D-2 athletes and features an atmosphere similar to that of the minor leagues.
“When you go to a Storm Chasers game, or a Husker basketball game, you’ll see a guy with the mic talking and interviewing people in between (plays),” Frew said. “I do that (for the Sodbusters), but on steroids, because they let me do whatever I want.”
Summer concert series continues to grow in numbers, local support
Out in the orange rays of the dying, western-setting sun, hundreds gathered Friday night to celebrate the last Bands on the Bricks of the season.
With more than 400 people attending per week this year, according to the Aurora Chamber of Commerce, there are not only the familiar faces rocking and rolling but new people passing on through.
Bremer Center set for facelift
The Bremer Community Center board signed a contract Thursday with Chief Industries in Grand Island to begin remodeling in November the building that has been part of Aurora since 1979.
Certain areas of the community center will be closed and changed through the five-month long construction process, which is estimated to cost $1 million.
