County ‘close’ to deciding on courthouse renovation contract

“I think we’re getting close!” was the conclusion of Hamilton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Rich Nelson near the end of a third face-to-face meeting since June with preservation architect Jerry Berggren on Monday. Nelson was referring to negotiations regarding a contract with Berggren Architects of Lincoln to oversee a $2 million exterior renovation of the county’s nearly 130-year-old Colorado sandstone courthouse. 

 

Airport project on final approach: Grass seeding the last task to be completed on site

A nearly five-month major renovation project at the Aurora Airport could be wrapping up this week. Work started in May on replacing and moving the deteriorating taxiway and replacing the aircraft parking area in front of the airport office building, as well as upgrading taxiway lighting and improving drainage.

 

Community mural dedicated

The building-sized mural in downtown Aurora, sponsored by the Hamilton Community Foundation, was dedicated on Wednesday at a reception at the nearby HCF office. The artists, Brianna and Bristol Lewis were on hand for the ceremony and were accompanied by their grandparents from Lincoln. 

 

Local authorities investigate string of car thefts

A rash of car thefts last week in Aurora is under investigation and has authorities warning local residents not to leave keys in their vehicles. The six cars stolen from residences in town on Sunday, Oct. 15 and Tuesday, the 17th were all recovered and are being considered crimes of opportunity by authorities.
