Area schools enrollment dips

While 2023-24 combined enrollments for Hamilton County’s four school districts took a less than one percent dip for the second year in a row, superintendents in Aurora, Giltner, Hampton and High Plains say they expect the decline to reverse in coming years thanks to new growth in the county. 

 

Small Town Market Days expands to 4th community

It’s that time of year again when small businesses in Aurora, Central City and Stromsburg join together to celebrate the small town life as part of Small Town Market Days. This year, the event is expanding to a fourth county as well. 

 

Class helps HHS seniors prepare for life after high school

Hampton High School has launched a class for the 16 seniors who will graduate next spring to teach them basic life skills by exposing them to real-world experiences and learning by doing. 

 

County OKs aerial photo bid

In a decision pending since July, the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners voted on Monday to approve a six-year contract with Eagleview Technologies to provide the county assessor’s office with a set of aerial photos of the county for the purpose of setting valuations.
