Aurora grad McFadden soars to new heights in Kearney

Soaring to new heights is a passion for Aurora graduate Bethany (Janzen) McFadden. Living as a commercial pilot in Kearney, each new horizon brings new challenges that she is eager to overcome.
“I love how it’s just different every day,” McFadden began. “Every day we’re going to different places; there’s always new challenges; you can always improve on your abilities; you don’t get bored; and you don’t get complacent.” McFadden shares her story in this week's Where Are They Now Series.

Marching Huskies set the bar high for new season

The bar has always been set high for the Aurora Marching Huskies, but this year the band is planning to break through multiple bars, in a sense. Between rehearsals for a “breakout” performance during the week-long band camp, director Dan Sodomka had nothing but praise for the students’ continuous hard work. 

 

Bands on Bricks wraps up Season 7

The season finale of Bands on the Bricks saw an overwhelming turnout of support by Aurora residents and visitors Friday evening.
Between families enjoying the show from the comfort of their lawn chairs near the bandstand and the children making chalk drawings and dancing on the street, 400 people were confirmed to be present during the final night, according Bands on the Bricks founder Sara Sutherland.

 

County’s general election ballot set

The Nov. 5 general election ballot has now been set for voters in Hamilton County. Aug. 1 was the deadline for those interested in running for seats on the various village boards in the county, so the County Clerk’s Office can now begin the process of putting together the unique ballots for voters in each of the county’s 11 voting precincts.
