Thursday collision

Body

Distracted driving is being blamed for this rear-end collision between a truck hauling anhydrous ammonia and a minivan late Thursday morning. Hamilton County Sheriff Jeromy McCoy said the truck driven by Steven Hemmings had just pulled out headed eastbound on Highway 34 west of Aurora when it was struck by the 2022 Kia van driven by Anna Smith of Aurora. McCoy said there were passengers in Smith’s vehicle but no injuries were reported. Smith told sheriff’s deputies she was distracted, causing her to hit the back of the slow-moving truck. The truck sustained minor damage.
