Giltner Speech tackles changes with virtual meets

Cacia Barnes, speech coach at Giltner High School shared her thoughts on how the season has changed for her 11 students.
“The changes we’ve had to make this speech season are maintaining six-feet of distance between one another at practice and wearing masks,” she said. “Typically, I would allow the students to come and watch each other practice, but with social distancing expectations, we had to forego that this year.”
The team is also facing the challenge of having virtual speech meets. While she had found that this is not ideal, she’d rather have some form of competition than nothing.
