All-mail election passes on 167-102 vote

Body

Giltner School District patrons have voted to remove Chris Waddle from the board, passing a recall initiative by a vote of 167 to 102.
Hamilton County Clerk Jill DeMers reported that the unofficial results were posted at approximately 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, and were confirmed by the canvassing board Wednesday, making them official.
Approximately 500 ballots were mailed out to district patrons in late January, with instructions that they must be mailed to the Hamilton County Courthouse, brought to the clerk’s office or dropped off in the ballot box outside the courthouse by 5 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 15. Only district patrons were allowed to vote in the all-mail election. DeMers said 53 percent of the ballots were returned in an election which she said ran smoothly, with results posted on the county’s website approximately 30 minutes after the 5 p.m. voting deadline.
The election results mean that Waddle’s tenure on the Giltner School Board has ended, effectively immediately.
The recall petition was initiated last fall by Giltner area resident Jamie Bendorf.
