A big milestone for the heart of the art culture in Aurora is coming to fruition in the form of Cottonwood Gallery & Arts’ first ever juried art show.
The event will welcome over 20 different artists from all over Nebraska, as well as visitors to the gallery, April 7 from 5-8 p.m. for an opening reception. The theme for the art show, “Life in Nebraska” will be showcased in a number of mediums and pieces for all to see.
Besides refreshments, the event will also offer a chance for visitors to speak with some of the artists and will coincide with Aurora’s “First Thursday” event for April.
“A juried art show is (an art show) where the artists submit their pieces and then we have a judge come in and pick which piece they believe is best in show,” said gallery co-owner Tori Swanson. “And for this show we have local artist Jana Van Housen as the juror.”
The step toward a juried art show is significant and the opportunity will allow artists to showcase their work in competition format.
