Barry launches Blue Line Auto Detailing

From a routine chore to a quickly growing side gig, Cody Barry’s Blue Line Auto Detailing has proven to be an incredibly successful venture.
Barry had been cleaning his family’s cars, but didn’t consider making it a job until his wife urged him to do so last April.
“I’m always cleaning our personal vehicles and my wife just one day, she’s like, “those look pretty good. You should start doing this on the side,’” Barry said. “I already had most of the equipment. It doesn’t take a lot to get started, so I just put up my Facebook page to start advertising and people started contacting me.”
With steady business rolling in, Barry is able to keep busy doing one to two cars per week.
Barry offers many different services including an express interior cleaning, express shampoo, engine bay detailing, headlight restoration, and full interior detailing. He also includes an option for monthly cleans for returning customers.
Though he’s excited for the future, Barry is keeping his plans fluid.
“I’ll just keep going,” he said. “As long as there’s people contacting me, I’ll keep doing it. I don’t have any plans on making it my full time. It’s just something I like to do on the side.”
Blue Line is based out of Barry’s home in Phillips, but he gets clients from all surrounding areas.
“I’ve had quite a few from Aurora, Giltner, from Grand Island, a few from Phillips,” he said. “A couple of businesses have reached out, too.” 
Barry enjoys the challenge that detailing brings. Taking a car from dirty to sparkling is what keeps him fulfilled in what he does. 
“(My favorite thing is) the challenge of taking someone’s dirty vehicle and trying to get it back as close to new again,” he said. “That’s always the challenge -- to make it look the best.”
Though car detailing is something almost everyone gets done, Barry wants people to remember that it isn’t always a quick process. 
“You know, it can take up to eight hours,” he said. “It’s not just a quick wipe everything down and then it’s back to new. It takes a lot of scrubbing and I have to use the steamer a lot to get a lot of stuff up that’s stuck. Sometimes it takes quite a bit of time.”
Ultimately, Barry is thankful for everyone that has brought a vehicle to him to clean.
