See abortion for what it really is
Dear Editor:
I read with interest Sen. Lippincott’s opinion concerning abortion in the Sept. 18th issue of the News-Register. While I wholeheartedly support his position in favor of the “Protect Women and Children Initiative” as the better of two flawed alternatives, I feel that those protections do not go far enough. Abortion should be recognized for what it is: the murder of an unborn, but certainly living, human being. Life is God’s gift and it is not in our province to take it away.
As for the “special circumstances” of pregnancies occurring because of rapes and/or incest, I abhor and condemn those acts of violence and the individuals who commit them and have extraordinary sympathy for the girls or women thus victimized. I would still ask: in what other serious crime is the ultimate victim, that is the baby thus formed, given the death penalty?
I pray the only true God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit to watch over our nation, correct our glaring sins and set our nation on a decent path.
Jane Nunnenkamp,
