Dear Editor:
This excerpt from the Aurora High School 2003 yearbook says: “The Aurora High School Band had been through a lot in the past few years, switching directors. This year, under the direction of Dan Sodomka, the band program rebounded and began to rebuild.
“Mr. Sodomka brought a lot of enthusiasm to band this year,: said senior Marci VanderTuig. “He really motivated us to work together to achieve our highest potential.”
This enthusiasm was apparent after the band received two superiors at marching competitions, second place in the Harvest of Harmony parade, and also received a superior at district music contest. This was just the beginning of an incredible new program at AHS. The band will continue the excellence established this year for many years to come.”
To thank Mr. Sodomka and Mrs. Metzger for their dedication and partnership to teaching in the Aurora Public Schools instrumental program these last 20 years, the Class of 2023 band seniors and their families would like to honor them by requesting contributions to the Aurora High School Class of 1965 Band Fund at the Hamilton Community Foundation. Gifts to this fund will enable the greater community of band supporters to ensure that the needs of the band program are provided for now and in the coming years.
The mission of Hamilton Community Foundation is to ignite philanthropy in Hamilton County for a healthy vibrant community. When members of the community partner with the foundation to raise awareness and funds for programs such as the performing arts, this idea of philanthropy becomes a reality.
Contributions may be mailed directly to the Hamilton Community Foundation, P.O. Box 283, Aurora, NE 68818. To donate online, visit their website at hcfne.org, and click the “Donate Now” button. All contributions are tax deductible.
