Biden exposed

Subhead

President should do right by his country and step aside

Body

Joe Biden is not physically or mentally fit to serve another four years in the White House.
Anyone with an open mind who watched last week’s high-stakes debate, which was a painful experience no matter what your political persuasion, has to admit that this is a man who is past his prime.
In the span of 90 minutes, Biden confirmed what many have suspected, that he is simply not up to a job that demands such intense focus, energy and mental acuity. The thought of this life-long politician starting another four-year term at the age of 81 is frightening in so many ways, based solely on his ability to think and speak his mind clearly at the moment of truth, which as president of the United States is pretty much 24/7.
Even before the debate was over, his staff was blaming Biden’s lackluster performance partially on a cold. Hogwash! It was completely expected, and par for the course in today’s world, that both sides would spin the results in their favor, but Biden’s mumbling and bumbling were spin-proof.
With the bright lights glaring, no notes to guide him and his opponent throwing up blatantly false claims, Biden was fully exposed as a man no longer in full control of his wits. He lost his train of thought in mid-sentence. He spoke in hushed tones. He looked weak even when trying to emphasize his main points. In short, he humiliated himself as a candidate.
Biden can, and did, say that he doesn’t debate as well as he once did, but the cold hard truth was visible for all to see. Our sitting president can’t handle this gig anymore and should look himself in the mirror and admit what a majority of his own party has already concluded. He may or may not win in November, but regardless he’s not fit to serve another term.
Joe Biden should do the right thing and step aside, while there is still time for someone else to run.
Though Biden’s performance was dismal, this is not to be misconstrued as an endorsement for Donald Trump. The former president’s tone was better because it had to be in that debate format, though he still showed total disregard for the truth again and again and again. Aside from his political views, Trump’s instinctual lying cuts to the core of his character. Polls suggest that a majority of Americans agree he is a deceitful, egotistical wildcard capable of saying and doing anything necessary to get elected, which in a normal election cycle would be a losing hand.
Last week’s debate was a sad commentary on our country if these are the best two candidates for president.
