The remark, “the world around us seems to spin faster and faster,” has been heard many times. I find that it’s hard to believe the world is actually spinning faster and faster. But, I must agree that the world as we know it does SEEM to be moving faster each year.
After doing some serious thinking, I’ve come to the conclusion, the world isn’t really moving faster and faster. Each year we are just moving slower and slower.

Another observation: “It’s hard to make a comeback when you haven’t been anywhere.”

Poetry is not my bag, but it’s pretty obvious I like a lot of humor. The following poem written by an unidentified senior citizen drew my smiles as I read it.
“I am fully aware that my youth has been spent,
That my get up and go has got up and went,
But I cannot complain when I think with a grin
Of the wonderful places my get up has been.
You ask me why I say that my youth has been spent,
That my get up and go has got up and went,
When in spite of it all I can say with a grin
I rejoice when I think where my get has been.
Now Old Age is golden, as I’ve heard it said,
But I scarcely believe it when I go to bed.
I put ears in a drawer, my teeth in a cup,
My eyes on a table till time to get up.
Till sleep dims my eyes, I say to myself
Is there anything more I should lay on the shelf?

Lately we’ve been trying to create a few smiles by quoting a few jokes as well as recalling some humorous incidents. We hope we aren’t boring you, but feel the past few months we all could use some extra things to smile about. As one person noted, “It’s no time to panic, but it also hasn’t been the time to declare “business as usual.”

Here’s a final reminder: “If you’re going to die in an elevator . . . be sure to push the ‘UP’
