Immigration a hot topic in America since Day 1

Immigration has been a near-daily national topic recently by United States politicians and this country’s citizenry. Actually, the subject is nothing new. If we look back to the founding of our country, we then realize this country’s growth was basically founded and molded by immigrants and immigration concerns have been with us ever since.
While scanning through some old files we came across a Great Northern Railway Magazine published in August, 1944. In that issue was a story announcing, “Restrictions on Chinese who may enter or travel through the United States and Canada in the same manner as all other persons have been removed by both governments.” On the downside law-abiding Japanese families particularly in California had earlier been relocated in camps because of WWII.

Insurance agent: “Now that you’re married and have the responsibility of a wife, you will want to take out some insurance.”
Mr. Newlywed: “Insurance? Shucks, no. Why she’s not the least bit dangerous.”

It’s reported that the average person’s left hand does 56 percent of the typing. Nothing new to me because I’m lefthanded and always knew left-handed people were overworked but, were also capable to carry more than just half of a workload.

Most all of us had heard a comment sometime that made reference to “Pandora’s box.”  A little research solved my inquisitiveness.
“Pandora’s Box – Surprises which are generally unpleasant and in the form of trouble, but sometimes are pleasant. A legislative act may turn out to be a Pandora’s box of surprises, unpleasant or pleasant. In Greek mythology, Pandora was a woman’s sent by Zeus as punishment for the human race because Prometheus had stolen fire from heaven. Zeus gave her a box in which were all human ills; they escaped when she opened the box. In the box also was hope, which remained.
