Panel discusses economic, pandemic stress, how to deal
It is said on the news, the radio and paper that these are unprecedented times and many industries are facing financial uncertainties due to the ongoing pandemic.
Holly Spangler, a writer for Prairie Farmer; Adrienne DeSutter, agricultural wellness and behavioral health consultant with Sow Hope, Grow Hope; and Jason Medows, host of the podcast Ag State of Mind gathered to host an online seminar discussing mental health in the time of economic stress and a pandemic.
“Farming ranks in the top 10 most stressful occupations,” Spangler began. “Anybody who’s involved knows that and is not surprised by that, but maybe the more surprising part is that depression affects one in five farmers.”
