Water quality issues in the area and across the state are a topic of major concern for most in the know. 
As part of a special presentation given by Nebraska Extension to the Hamilton and Merrick County Extension boards Monday evening during their annual joint-training session, board members were briefed on the issue.
“It’s really important to think about how our environment in general impacts our health,” said Laura Nagengast, Source Water Protection Educator with Nebraska Extension. “It happens all the time. WHO, the World Health Organization, did a study that was published in 2016 that found that 24 percent of deaths worldwide could be related back to the environment.”
This could be taken as air pollution, where someone lives geographically, where someone works -- their environment.
