After lull, ag ground valuations should see increase

Hamilton County is home to prime agricultural ground -- it’s a fact -- and now there are growing figures to back it up.
To be more specific, ag land values have increased over the last 18 months, according to experts in the field.
“I’d say in the last year, maybe mainly the last 18 months, values have increased probably 25 percent, in some places 30 percent,” said Jerry Hoegh, ag sales person for Big Iron Reality. “It all depends on a really nice pivot quarter.”
Despite land going for different rates based on a number of factors, like irrigation, access and more, final sale totals are seeing high dollar signs.
“We’ve seen it (irrigated crop land) in that $14,000 to $15,000 range (per acre),” Hoegh continued. “Some of the dry crop ground is in the $8,000 to $9,000 range right now.”
