Fair numbers solid, despite heat

The temperatures were high this week for the 143rd edition of the Hamilton County Fair, and so too were the number of youth showing animals throughout the five-day event.
The barns were at near capacity this year, with beef leading the way touting a field of more than 90 head strong. Swine numbers were up, as were rabbits, all of which survived the heat in fine fashion.
“It was very hot those two days it got close to or over 100 degrees, but the blessing was it got cool in the morning when we started each of the shows,” reported Todd Whitney, Hamilton County Extension educator. “People just accepted that it was hot and everyone was very cooperative.”
