New place, new schools, same sports

Article Image Alt Text

by Richard Rhoden

It’s a saying that I’ve heard a lot of people say over the years, and it’s really started to come true.
The more things change, the more things stay the same.
I’m the new guy here in Aurora at the newspaper. I started here about a month ago, and it seems like everything in my life has changed in that last month.
New apartment, new town, new faces to work with.
But the familiarities stay the same, and some of those old faces show up again.
It’s still a newspaper, which I put together in college, it’s still a lot of sports coverage, which I did all of at Wayne State, and faces that I haven’t seen for years all of a sudden show up again.

Ten reasons to get excited for Husker football

Article Image Alt Text

June is here and it’s one of the quietest sports months of the entire year, unless you’re into baseball or you can’t miss a game in the NBA finals.
That’s why I’m jumping ahead to fall, Husker football to be specific, and that’s why I’ve come up with a top 10 list of reasons to be excited and to get excited for the 2015 season.
#1: The new coaching staff and in particular, head coach Mike Riley and offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf. Riley is about as polar opposite of Pelini as you could imagine, and I’m guessing, no I’m actually hoping, that the team won’t be as much on edge and will just get back to playing football without worrying about making mistakes. I think the players will be in a much better mental state when they’re on the field, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the offense can do under a new coordinator.
