Superstitions are a real thing

Superstitions are weird, and they make people do some ridiculous and head-scratching things, and I may be the one driving the bus on this one.
I’m not really the superstitious type, until it comes to sports. I do so many things in the name of superstition that I forget I’m even doing them.
Let’s just run through some examples so you can get an inside look at what I think about sports.
DISCLAIMER: Once you see what I’m thinking, it may influence you to start doing the same.
Here’s something simple to start with. For example, back when the Huskers defeated Michigan State in the latter part of the year, I was wearing a particular Nebraska shirt, sweatpants and cap. You bet your bottom dollar that I wore that exact same outfit throughout the remainder of the season. When Dave and I went and covered the Iowa game, that particular part of my uniform was buried about three layers deep. It didn’t work, but it sure as heck beat UCLA in the bowl game.

Huskies fend off ferocious charge from Bluejays

It was another double-digit victory for the Huskies, but it certainly didn’t feel that way in front of a huge home crowd Friday against Seward.
Aurora defeated the Bluejays 64-52, but the final score doesn’t quite tell the whole story.

Aurora takes best shot from Central City

When you’re one of the best teams in your class, everyone is gunning for you and ready to deliver their best shot to knock you down.
Central City poured in a season’s worth of effort into its clash with the No. 6-ranked Aurora Huskies, and after a quick-paced first half the Bison were unable to keep in touch in the second half, falling 72-55.

Lady Huskies prevail in fourth-quarter thriller

The great thing about sports is that despite making critical mistakes, a player or team can rise to the occasion and make a play to win the game.
Adyson Narber, Jasa Scheierman and the Lady Huskies did just that against Central City Friday.

Home basket unfriendly to Hornets in close loss at home

All you can ask for is a chance, and that’s what the Giltner Hornets had.
With a chance to win the game in the final seconds, the home court basket was unfaithful to Giltner as the game-winning shot rimmed out as the Hornets fell to the D-1 No. 3 ranked Kenesaw Blue Devils 46-44 Jan. 12.

SEC reigns supreme

Okay, raise your hand if you watched all 41 bowl games this season!
If you did manage to do that, and if you still have your eyesight, more power to you. As for me, I picked and chose carefully. No, I couldn’t sit through San Jose State versus Georgia State, Western Kentucky against South Florida or even Appalachian State versus Ohio. But I did manage to watch some live, and some with the help of the record button, so I can safely say that I’ve had my fill of football.
