Daisy Tuttle

Daisy Tuttle, 93, of Aurora, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 26 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Gil Nissen and Rev. Greg Reed will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery prior to the service at 9:30 a.m. for family and friends.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Memorials will go the Marquette Community memorial fund.   Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Daisy Catherine Tuttle, the daughter of Claude and Ozellar (Bales) Davison, was born in Colorado, on Oct. 18, 1925, and passed away at Aurora, on March 21, 2019, at the age of 93.

Wanda Wimer

Wanda Marie Heins Wimer, age 87, of York, died Monday, March 18, 2019 at York. She was born August 30, 1931 in Hampton, to Paul and Norma (Heiden) Budnick. On Feb. 25, 1951, she was united in marriage to Keith Heins rural Hampton. She was later united in marriage to Lavern Wimer May 20, 1995 in rural Polk.
Wanda worked at Sears in York for 20 years, and was also a teller at York State Bank. She was a long time member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, York. Wanda enjoyed going on trips with the Fun Club, creating needle point crosses, and making jewelry. She enjoyed bowling, and attending all of her family’s activities.

Bret H. Owens

Bretley Hunter Owens, 61, peacefully passed away March 15, 2019, in Wichita, Kans. encircled by his beloved family and friends. He was born Nov. 26, 1957, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hutchinson, Kans. the son of Leslie and Constance Owens. Bret graduated from high school in Aurora, in 1976. He was a member of the Methodist Church and a born-again Christian. Bret was a businessman, owning and operating Owens’ Optical in Hutchinson for 14 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Les Owens, and sister, Vickie Lynn Owens.
Bret is survived by: mother, Constance Owens, Hutchinson; sister, Stephany Miller (Jim), Aurora; brother, Bradley A. Owens, Hutchinson; nephew, Riley Miller, Aurora; and niece, Cameron Owens, Hutchinson.

Orion 'Sarge' Collingham

Orion ‘Sarge’ Collingham, 95, of Aurora, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 in Lincoln at CHI-St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 12 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora.  Rev. Sarah Ruch will officiate. Interment will be at the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Monday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 415 South 18th Street, Aurora.  Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Orion ‘Sarge’ V. Collingham, the son of Walter and Bessie (Sommers) Collingham, was born on the farm by McCool Junction, on May 5, 1923 and passed away in Lincoln, on March 9, 2019, at the age of 95.

Betty Braun

Betty Braun, age 90, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Memorial Community Care.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 13 at Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. Rev. Andrea Wall will officiate. Private Family interment prior to the service will be in the Bethesda Cemetery in Henderson. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m., Tuesday, with the family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Betty Jewel Braun, the daughter of Frank A. and Agatha (Harder) Friesen, was born at O’Neill, on Dec. 21, 1928 and passed away in Aurora, on March 10, 2019, at the age of 90.

Mary Jean Bremer

Mary Jean Bremer, 101, died March 1 at the Sanford Care Center in Vermillion, South Dakota. She was born Sept. 3, 1917 in York, daughter of Carl Bremer and Emma Elizabeth (Jeske) Bremer.
Miss Bremer was a director and part owner of Paint Brush Corporation in Vermillion where she was secretary/treasurer. She worked at the company from 1948 until her retirement in 2006. She grew up in Aurora, where she graduated from Aurora High School. She also attended the University of Nebraska. Miss Bremer worked for the Internal Revenue Service. She served in the United States Army in the Office of Army Intelligence in Washington, D.C. from 1944 to 1946.
She was predeceased by her parents and by her sister, Elizabeth Bremer, with whom she remained very close until her death in 2000.

Velda Anderson

Velda Fay Anderson, the daughter of George Ralph and Edna (Hamburger) Read, was born at home along with her twin sister, Nelda, near Inland in Clay County, on Nov. 14, 1931 and passed away on March 6, 2019 at the age of 87.

William "Bill" Rinke

William “Bill” Lee Rinke, 70, of Aurora, formerly of Grand Island passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 8, at All Faiths Funeral Home of Grand Island.  A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at the funeral home.  His ashes will be buried at a later date.
Bill was born July 18, 1948 in Grand Island, the son of Elmer and Leona (Goehring) Rinke. He grew up and received his education in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High with the Class of 1966. He then graduated from Central Nebraska Tech College in 1968 in Hastings and went on to attend UNL.

Wilbur H. Ocker

Giltner resident Wilbur H. Ocker, 83, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, surrounded by his family.        
Graveside Services with  military rites by Doniphan American Legion Post 300 are 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Giltner Cemetery in Giltner with Rev. Paul Nauman officiating. The family requests casual dress at the services. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. There will be no viewing or visitation. Rex Nissen

Rex Nissen, age 72, of Aurora, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 1, 2019, at Memorial Hospital.

Rex Nissen was born Feb. 6, 1947 in Grand Island, to Delmar and Pauline (Norgard) Nissen.  He grew up on the family farm in Hamilton County.  Rex passed away on March 1, 2019 at the age of 72.
Rex was baptized and confirmed in St. John’s Lutheran Church at Kronborg, and became a member of Aurora United Methodist Church in 1974.  He attended school in Marquette, and graduated in 1965.
