Darleen Senff

Darleen Senff, 90 of York passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 30 at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, northeast of Hampton. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 at Metz Mortuary in York. The family will meet friends from 6-7:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.
Metz Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
Darleen Dorothy Senff was born on Dec. 4, 1927 to Carl and Clara (Wellman) Apetz on a farm southeast of York. She attended St. John Lutheran School south of Waco. She moved with her parents to York in March 1938. She then went to York Schools.

John H. Green

John H. Green, age 93, of Aurora, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, at Memorial Community Care.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Evangelical Covenant Church.  John’s nephew, Rev. Glenn Palmberg, will officiate along with Rev. Karl Larson.  Private family inurnment will be prior to the service at Richland Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7 at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.  Memorials may be made in care of the family to be designated at a later date.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
John Henry Green, the son of Joseph Cornelius and Lois Olive (Dixon) Green, was born two miles south of Marquette, on Sept. 19, 1925 and passed away in Aurora, on Nov. 21, 2018, at the age of 93.

LaVonne "Bonnie" Ernst Ediger

LaVonne ‘Bonnie’ Ernst Ediger, age 96, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018, at Memorial Community Care.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28 at the First Christian Church in Aurora. Pastor Bruce Bradley will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.
Eastern Star Rites will follow visitation at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made in care of the family to designate at a later date. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
LaVonne ‘Bonnie’ May Hunnicutt Ernst Ediger, the daughter of Otto and Bessie (Detamore) Hunnicutt, was born on the family farm west of Giltner on May 15, 1922, and passed away in Aurora on Nov. 22, 2018, at the age of 96.

Francis "Pat" I. Driewer

Francis “Pat” I. Driewer, age 92 of Bradshaw, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, in Aurora.
She was born Dec. 3, 1925, in Curtis, to Floyd and Pearl (Jones) Strolz. On July 25, 1943, Pat was united in marriage to L. Ivan Driewer in Hampton. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hampton. She had worked at Chances R restaurant as a cook for over 20 years. She enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sons Randy Driewer of Bradshaw, Wally (Donna) Driewer of Fullerton and Greg (Merna) Driewer of York, daughter Sandy (Chuck) Bumgarner of York, 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Susan Propst, three infant children and one sister.

LaVonne Smith

LaVonne C. Smith, 66, died Tuesday, Nov. 20 at Henderson Health Care.
LaVonne was born Aug. 26, 1952, in Henderson to Richard and Ardith (Peters) Regier. She was raised in the Henderson and Hampton area and graduated from Hampton High School in 1970.
LaVonne attended business courses at Kearney State College and on April 8, 1972, married Terry W. Smith in Henderson at the Bethesda Mennonite Church. The couple lived in Hampton at the same residence for 46 years and seven months before Terry took her to the Henderson Care Center for her final days.

Raymond Belden

Raymond Belden, age 93, of York, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018, at the Hearthstone in York.

Raymond Dean Belden, the son of Clarence and Edna (Daughtery) Belden, was born at Scottsville, Kansas, on April 18, 1925, and passed away at York, Nebraska, on Nov. 15, 2018, at the age of 93.

Ray served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  He was enlisted from August 1944 and was honorable discharged in July 1946.

Carol (Sims) LaBrie

Carol (Sims) LaBrie 74, of Doniphan died Thursday, Nov. 8 at home with her loving family by her side.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Doniphan. Celebrant will be Fr. Adam Sughroue. Burial will follow in Cedarview Cemetery near Doniphan.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by a rosary service at 7 p.m. on Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home, Grand Island.
Carol was born on Sept. 20, 1944 in Grand Island, daughter of Melvin and Leola (Griffin) Sims. A lifelong resident of central Nebraska, she graduated from Giltner High School class of 1962.

Amelia Kay Gallegos

Amelia Kay Gallegos, formerly of Aurora, passed away Nov. 3, 2018 in Texas.
Amelia known to friends and family by her middle name Kay was born Aug. 28, 1943 to Orville and Velma (Newlyn) Gray. She married LeRoy Gallegos Sept. 14, 1943. They had one child Eugene LeRoy “Bud”. Kay worked as a dispatcher for 35 years between Aurora Police Department and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. Kay enjoyed time with family and friends, crocheting and other crafts.
Amelia Kay was proceeded in death by her parents, her brother James Gray and her husband.

Donald Dale "Sparky" Marco

Donald Dale Marco, 90 of Texas, “Sparky” lost a short but brave battle with cancer on Sept. 20, 2018 at his Texas home. Many thanks to his doctors, Encompass Hospice and especially to Audrey Glaser, who took care of him during his last days. Sparky passed from this world much as he lived, simply, peacefully, and surrounded by love.  Sparky Marco will be long remembered for his kindness, his humor, his wonderful stories, and his ability to befriend anyone he met.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at Apfel Funeral Home, 1123 W 2nd St, Grand Island,  with a gathering of family and friends for a light lunch, pie and coffee (his favorite) and time of reminiscing and sharing stories about Sparky. Inurnment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2018 in Grand Island Cemetery.
Apfel funeral Home is caring for the family.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family for a memorial to the Pflugerville Senior Center.

Bernard "Bernie" Andreasen

Bernard “Bernie” Andreasen, 93, of Grand Island, formerly of Hordville, died Monday, Nov.  5, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society in Grand Island.  Memorial services will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City.  Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 9, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fridhem Lutheran Church in Hordville.  Burial will be in the Hordville Cemetery  in Hordville.
Bernie was born on June 17, 1925 in Berwyn, to Einer and Violet (Wrasse) Andreasen.  He grew up in the Marquette area and graduated from Marquette High School in 1942.  He  was united in marriage to Agnes Benson on June 20, 1946 in Hordville.  Bernie farmed for over 45 years and still went to the farm even after retirement.  Bernie and Agnes moved to Grand Island in 1987 and Bernie started a stump grinding business.  He enjoyed this business very much and continued it until he was 80 years old.
