Dorothy L. Hughes

Dorothy L. Hughes, 77, died Monday, June 18, 2018 at CHI-Saint Francis in Grand Island.  Memorial services will be Friday, June 29, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Central City with Pastor Tom Lucas officiating.  Burial will be at a later date.

Dorothy was born on March 12, 1941 to Doris Patzel in Omaha.  She was adopted by Charles William and Ila Draper at the age of two.  She graduated from North Platte High School and then attended the University of Colorado for two years where she studied music.  Dorothy later attended nursing school in Fort Worth, TX and received her LPN.  She married Benny H. Hughes on October 27, 1962 in Garrison, CO.  The couple moved frequently due to Benny’s work as an aviation mechanic and sheet metal laborer, living in Washington State, Texas, and Nebraska.

Rodney Olson

Rodney Olson, age 71, of Hampton, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
No formal services will be held.  Visitation to greet friends and family will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 28 at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Rodney Dean Olson, the son of Kenneth C. and Betty A. (Nielson) Olson, was born in Grand Island, on June 15, 1947 and passed away in Aurora, on June 23, 2018, at the age of 71.
He grew up in Grand Island and the family moved to Colorado, where he graduated from Arvada West High School in 1964.  Rod enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served several years before being honorable discharged.

Gary Bruce Omel

Gary Omel was born March 18, 1943 in Long Beach, California to Myron and Martha (Lindstrom) Omel. He died June 13, 2018, in Florida, at the age of 75. Gary moved to Nebraska as a small child and grew up on the family farm near Giltner.
Gary graduated from Giltner High School and served his country in the United States Air Force. After his Air Force discharge he worked in the CB radio and electronics business, then drove as an over-the-road hauler till his retirement. He and wife Sandy, along with the dogs, traveled the country in their motorcoach many months of each year. Gary’s great love was fixing things and enjoying good food with friends and family. He was always rebuilding mowers, vehicles, equipment, reclaiming, reusing, and reselling. He loved his family, extended families, and enjoyed life each and every day.
Gary was preceded in death by an infant brother Kevin Carl Omel, his mother Martha Omel, and his son Kevin Omel.

Lois Ough

Lois Ough, age 96, of Hampton, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Memorial Community Care.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19 at the Aurora United Methodist Church.  Rev. Lois Ailene Ough, the daughter of Roy and Freda (Hofrichter) Carter, was born in Bruning, on February 16, 1922, and passed away in Aurora, on June 2, 2018, at the age of 96.
She was raised in Bruning, and graduated from Bruning High School.  After graduation, she earned a two-year teaching certificate in elementary education from the University of Nebraska.

Anthony (Tony) Wayne Budler

 Anthony “Tony” Wayne Budler, 61, passed away in his home surrounded by his family on the morning of June 9, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service for Tony will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Henderson Baptist Church in Rogersville, Mo.  Arrangements are under the care of Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Tony was born on January 8, 1957 to Bernard Budler and Patricia Hughes in York. He was number 5 out of 8 children in the Budler clan who were all raised on a farm in Bradshaw.
Very shortly after graduation from high school Tony’s oldest brother Pat helped him get a job working for NPPD as a lineman. There he found his niche. A self-taught man, Tony worked from being on the lines in Nebraska all the way up to Senior Power Marketer for AECI in Springfield, MO. The power industry not only gave Tony a career but lifelong friends who he loved like family.

Alice Procter

Alice Procter, age 83, of Aurora, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
A Memorial Service will be held at 9 a.m., Monday, June 11 at Faith Community Bible Church.  Rev. Alice Jean Procter, the daughter of Loren and Pauline (Adler) Hill, was born at Clay Center, on May 28, 1935, and passed away at Aurora, on June 5, 2018, at the age of 83.
Alice was united in marriage to Carl Dean Procter on August 17, 1956 at Clay Center.  They moved to Aurora in 1963, where she worked for Valta Ross at Shelter Insurance until retirement.  Two sons were born to this union, Michael and Richard.

Lloyd I. Tracy Jr.

Lloyd I. Tracy Jr., age 64, of York, died Sunday, June 3, 2018 in York. He was born on June 10, 1953 in York to Lloyd Sr. and Iona M. (Witte) Tracy. Lloyd was the owner of Tracy Enterprises, and truly enjoyed his work. He was a baseball fan, enjoyed watching westerns, riding motorcycles, playing solitaire and target shooting.
Lloyd is survived by his children Adam (Christina) Landenberger of Grand Island, Ben (Jessica) Tracy of Bradshaw,  Spencer Tracy of Bradshaw, Tiffany Tracy (Dustin McQuigg) of Beatrice, Heather  Rhoden of Dallas, TX, and Morgan Tracy of Lincoln.
He is survived by 6 grandchildren, his twin brother Wesley (Judy) Tracy of Hebron, sisters Diana (Ervin) Schulz of Hampton, Audrey (Adolph) Roesler of Bennett, and his mother Iona Tracy of Henderson. He is also survived by his significant other Lori Eichman of York, along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his father.

Chris G. Buss "Bussy"

Chris G. Buss, “Bussy”, 50, of Beatrice passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at his home on Monday May 28, 2018.  He was born March 27, 1968  in Beatrice and graduated from Beatrice High School in 1986.  He attended SCC in Milford and received an associate degree as a diesel ag equipment service technology.  He worked for John Deere in Beatrice for several years and was a dedicated farmer ever since.   He married Joan Kramer on August 14, 1993 at Beatrice and they had two children, Brooke and Bryce.  They later divorced.  He married Tina Griffith on March 5, 2011 at Beatrice.  He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice.  He was also a member of Aerie #531 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Beatrice.  He enjoyed farming, his friends and family, and Friday nights in the shop.  He had an amazing smile and would light up a room with his personality.
