Marvin Addison

Marvin Addison, age 81, of Hampton passed away on October 4, 2014 at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island.

Marvin Lee Addison, the son of Casper and Amber (Baker) Addison, was born in O’Neill, on September 12, 1933 and passed away in Grand Island, on October 4, 2014, at the age of 81.
 Marvin grew up in Atkinson and graduated from Atkinson High School.  Marvin served in the U.S. Army from 1952-55 during the Korean Conflict.


Linley Berck

Linley Berck, age 96, of Aurora, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at Memorial Community Care.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 8 at Faith Community Church in Aurora. Rev. Bob Gannon will officiate.   Interment will be in the Richland Cemetery. Linley Wayne Berck, the son of John P. and Lyda M. (Kruse) Berck was born on October 11, 1917 at rural Gresham, and passed away on October 2, 2014 in Aurora, at the age of 96.
Linley grew up in Polk County and graduated from Marquette High School in 1936.


June Jorgensen Hoegh

June Jorgensen Hoegh, age 79, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney.
Funeral Services will be held at  2 p.m., Saturday, October 4 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora.  Rev. Brian Krause and Rev. Chris Kester Beyer will officiate.  Private family burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Kronborg.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 415 South 18th Street, Aurora.   Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.  June Eva Jorgensen Hoegh, the daughter of Otto and Nellie Marie (Hansen) Westergaard, was born in Omaha, on August 10, 1935 and passed away in Kearney,  on October 1, 2014, at the age of 79.


Karla Jo Andreasen-Truell

Karla Jo Andreasen-Truell, 59 of Grand Island died September 28, 2014 at her home following a 40 year battle with lupus and its effects.
Celebration of life service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island.  Reverend Rodney Armon will be officiating.  Inurnment will be at noon on Friday in the Hordville Cemetery.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Karla Jo was born April 4, 1955 at Grand Island the daughter of Bernard and Agnes (Benson) Andreasen.  She was raised near Hordville and graduated from Hordville High School in 1973.  She attended Grand Island School of Business for 1 year.
Karla was united in marriage to Dorson Sawyers on September 8, 1974 in Hordville.  To this union they were blessed with a daughter, Megan.


Gary Andrew Dudder

Gary Andrew Dudder, 72, of Kearney died peacefully on September 27, 2014 at his home after a battle with lung cancer.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, October 2 at Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Kearney with Pastor John Gosswein officiating.
Visitation will be at O’Brien, Straatman, Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1.
Gary was born February 1, 1942 in Seattle, Washington to Joseph and Harriet (Schoffner) Dudder. On December 2, 1995 he married Jaculin Brickner (Ruby).


Betty Elaine Rust

Betty Elaine Rust, age 87, of York, died on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at York.  
She was born on February 25, 1927 at Bradshaw, to Charles Delbert and Rose (Bittinger) Morris.  She grew up on the family farm with her three brothers and one sister.
Betty attended high school in Polk.  On March 10, 1949, she married Jess Rust.  To this union were born six children.  Betty was a stay at home mom and later on also held various jobs.  She enjoyed watching old movies, listening to music, sewing, quilting, crocheting and spending time with her family.


Eileen Maw

Eileen Maw, age 92, of Aurora, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2014, at Memorial Community Care.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 30 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Rev. Ron Harris will officiate.  Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Rosalie Eileen Maw, the daughter of John Edward and Edith Hilda (Jensen) Bayne, was born in Giltner, on November 1, 1921 and passed away in Aurora, on September 25, 2014, at the age of 92.
She grew up in the Giltner area and graduated from Giltner High School.  Eileen worked in the school cafeteria for a few years before graduating from beauty school in 1962.


Shirley Ann Hoover Sanders

Shirley Ann Hoover Sanders, 78, formerly of Hamilton and York counties, died on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014 in Lincoln. Memorial services were held Tuesday, Sept. 23 at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Polk with Rev. Jeffrey Bloom officiating.
Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.  Solt Funeral Home of Central City and Polk is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at
 Shirley was born on Nov. 7, 1935, in Polk County to Willard D. and Mildred D. (Meerkatz) Richardson. Shirley attended school in York County through the tenth grade and moved with her family to Marquette and graduated from Marquette High School in 1954. She then worked as a waitress in York.  
On Aug. 5, 1956, Shirley was united in marriage to Stanley Hoover at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Polk. To this union three children were born, Cathy, Cindy and J.D.  They lived in Seward.  


Earl and Evelyn Beyer

A memorial service will be held for Earl and Evelyn Beyer at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg on Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. The service will be followed by a potluck luncheon at noon with the main course provided by the family. Desserts, salads, etc. will be welcomed.
Earl and Evelyn farmed two miles east of Kronborg for most of their lives. In 1979, they cast their fate to the wind and became campground hosts for the Army Corp of Engineers. From that time on they were on an extended vacation which ended in the Palm Spring’s area of Southern California. Nonetheless, Kronborg and the surrounding area was always home.
Please join the family on Sept. 27 as they celebrate the lives of two very good people who are now back home.


Norman Leland Arnett Sr.

Norman Leland Arnett, Sr of Crete died at Crete Manor in Crete on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014 at 10:40 p.m.
Burial well be at the Phillips Cemetery.
Norman was born on Nov. 5, 1948. His parents were Leland and Alice (Manka) Arnett. Norman married Brenda Sue Arnett on Oct. 18, 1996 in Lincoln. Brenda died on Aug. 19, 1998.
Norm attended Giltner High School and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.  
Norm loved to bowl, hunt and fish. He loved Husker football and especially baseball. He enjoyed his dream of umpiring baseball and mentoring the next generation of umpires.
Survivors include: his son, Norman Arnett, Jr. of Lincoln; daughter and spouse, Jennifer and Perre Neilan of Lincoln; daughter, Michele Arnett of Lincoln; son, Will Arnett of Crete; daughter and spouse, Laurie and Joe Morrison of Lincoln; sister: Elaine Roberts of Lincoln; and four grandchildren.
