Mike Hanson

Mike Hanson, age 61, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 25 at the Aurora United Methodist Church.  Rev. Ron Harris will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.  Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date. Don Michael Hanson, the son of Donald P. and Patricia (Beacom) Hanson, was born in York, on December 24, 1953 and passed away in Aurora, on April 21, 2015, at the age of 61.
He grew up on the family farm near Aurora. Mike graduated from Aurora High School.   Mike worked construction following graduation and then returned home to farm with his father.

Grace Potter, age 85, of Aurora, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015, at her home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 24 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora.  Rev. Mary Scott will officiate.  Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Grace Lucille Potter, the daughter of Hans O. and Helen B. (Christensen) Jensen, was born in Aurora, on July 20, 1929 and passed away in Aurora, on April 20, 2015, at the age of 85.

Elliot Lambert

Elliot Lambert, age 19, of Giltner, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015, at UNMC, Clarkson Tower in Omaha after a brief illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 23 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Doniphan.  Father Joseph Faulkner will officiate.  Burial will be at Cedarview Cemetery in Doniphan, next to his beloved great-grandparents, Glenn and Lurye LaBrie.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 22 at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Elliot James Lambert, the son of Marta (Lambert) Charlton, was born at Aurora, on May 7, 1995 and was carried to heaven in the arms of Jesus in Omaha, on April 20, 2015, at the age of 19.

Nancy Hall

Nancy Hall, age 62, of Aurora, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015, at CHI Health – St. Francis in Grand Island.
 A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 22 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora.  Rev. Daniel Smith and Rev. Dhan Raj Marneni will officiate. The family will greet friends at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1420 9th Street, from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rosary at 7 p.m.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later time.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
 Nancy Ann Hall, the daughter of James Arley and Irene (Deisch) Muldoon, was born in Pierre, South Dakota on July 24, 1952 and passed away in Grand Island on April 17, 2015, at the age of 62.

Danny Archer

Danny Archer, age 59, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at the Hamilton Manor.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 18 at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Rev. Ron Harris will officiate. Danny Ray Archer, the son of Raymond and Donna (Eastman) Archer, was born at Aurora, on August 16, 1955 and passed away in Aurora, on April 15, 2015, at the age of 59.
Danny was the sixth child of 14.  Danny received his G.E.D. on June 30, 1993 in Colorado.  Danny worked in the health care industry.  In Nebraska, he worked at Park Place in Grand Island, Barth Hotel Assisted Living and Med Aid as the Wellness Director.

Leroy "Pete" Friesen

LeRoy “Pete” Friesen, age 74, of York, died Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the Hearthstone in York.  He was formerly of the Henderson/Hampton area and had been a resident of the Hearthstone for the past four years. Pete was born October 7, 1940 to Herman and Susie (Hiebert) Friesen at their home west of Henderson.  He graduated from Henderson High School in 1958.   In 1960 he graduated from Milford Vocational Technical School with a degree in Auto Mechanics.  He worked at Stuhr Motors and Midwest Irrigation in Henderson, Kroy Metals and Geis Motors in York, and Steve’s Body Shop in Hampton.
In 1968 he married Rita Wilson in York.  They lived on the family farm for 26 years, where he also farmed.  Due to failing health, they moved to Hampton in 1994.  In the summer of 2011, he entered the Hearthstone with Rita moving to York so she could visit him every day.

Lillian Lucile (Feddersen) Barnard

Lillian Lucile (Feddersen) Barnard passed away April 8, 2015.
Lillian Barnard was born in Aurora on April 21, 1926. She was the daughter of Christian S. and Thyra M. (Hansen) Feddersen. Lillian’s grandparents were Danish immigrants and helped found St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at Kronborg, a Danish American community in Marquette. Lillian was baptized and confirmed there. After graduating from high school in Aurora, Lillian attended Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa for a year before continuing on to nursing school. In 1948 she graduated from Rush, Presbyterian, St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Chicago, IL.

Eunice Balasa, age 96, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Memorial Community Care.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 18 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora.  Interment will be at the Aurora Catholic Cemetery. Eunice Marie Balasa, the daughter of Edward and Gertrude (Orendorff) Herbig, was born in Marquette, on October 17, 1918 and passed away in Aurora, on April 11, 2015, at the age of 96.

Dianne Gimpel, age 77, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Memorial Hospital.

Dianne Joyce Gimpel, the daughter of Nels and Ada (Munn) Bossen, was born at Grand Island, on June 18, 1937 and passed away in Aurora, on April 8, 2015, at the age of 77.
She grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1957.

Ken Troester, age 86, of Hampton, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 11 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Rev. Mike Neidow will officiate. Burial will be at 11 a.m. prior to the service at the Salem Cemetery. Kenneth Willard Troester, the son of William C. and Anna (Bamesberger) Troester, was born at York, on May 31,1928 and passed away in Hampton, on April 8, 2015, at the age of 86.
Ken grew up in the Hampton area and attended school at District 34 and Salem Lutheran.  He graduated from Hampton High School in 1945. Following school he farmed with his father.
