Norma Jean Anderson

Norma Jean Anderson 84, of Lincoln, passed away September 15, 2015. She was born February 9, 1931 in Aurora, to Claude A. and Susie M. (Salmon) Rennau.  Norma was a homemaker most of her life but then worked for the University of Nebraska and Union Bank. She was a member of South Gate United Methodist Church. Family members include her son, Ronald (Susan) Anderson, Omaha; daughter, Jeanelle (James) Brester, Lincoln; grandchildren, Jenna and Jamie Brester; brother, Wayne (Betty) Rennau, Grand Island, and very special friend, Joseph Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Warren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 at  South Gate United Methodist Church, 3500 Pioneers Blvd., Lincoln with Pastor Eduardo Bousson officiating.


Deloris Ann Goertzen-Rempel

Deloris Ann Goertzen-Rempel, age 78, of Henderson, died Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Henderson. She was born on September 26, 1936 at Goessel, Kansas to Gerhard “George” R. and Anna (Friesen) Duerksen. She was a part-time employee for Henderson Care Center and Service Press.  She was a member of Bethesda Mennonite Church. On April 9, 1955, she was united in marriage to Glenn W. Goertzen at Henderson. They celebrated 39 years together before Glenn’s death in 1994.  Deloris later married John Rempel on November 28, 1996 at Henderson. She enjoyed Friendship Circle Club, Mission Circle, music, flowers, sewing, and helping around the farm.


Ward Andrews

Ward Andrews, age 95, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 12 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Ron Harris will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Ward Basil Andrews, the son of Enoch and Georgia Lenore (Rexroad) Andrews, was born at Pickens, West Virginia on April 30, 1920 and passed away in Aurora, on September 8, 2015, at the age of 95.


Marilyn Hahn

Marilyn Hahn, age 82, of Hickman, formerly of Hampton, passed away Monday, September 7, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 11 at the United Lutheran Church in Hampton. Rev. Howard Rasmussen will officiate. Interment will be in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Marilyn Joyce Hahn, the daughter of Virgil and Olga (Hansen) Wright, was born at Aurora, on January 10, 1933 and passed away in Lincoln, on September 7, 2015, at the age of 82.
She grew up on the family farm in Hamilton County, Marilyn attended Aurora High School.


Arthur Regier

Arthur Regier, age 92, of Henderson, died Monday, August 31, 2015 at Henderson.  He was born October 28, 1922 near Henderson to C. C. and Anna (Penner) Regier.   
Art and Mary Ann Ediger were united in marriage on March 24, 1950 at Henderson.  The union was blessed with two children, Steve and Deb.  Art farmed in the Hampton area and knew the value of hard work and strong faith.   He was a member of Mennonite Brethren Church.  He enjoyed the outdoors and loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his son Steve Regier from Sandy, Utah; daughter Deb Shepherd of Hampton. Grandchildren, Jade (Andrew) Gordon of Fruitland, UT, Jayson (Christina) Shepherd of York and Kerrie (Branden) Bonk of Las Vegas, NV; great-grandchildren, Mina, Destiny, Atley, Jordyn and McKenzye Shepherd of York; other family members and friends.
Preceding him in death were his wife, two grandsons, one son-in-law, one sister and four brothers.


Evelyn Grudzinski

Evelyn Grudzinski, 81, of Burlington, Colorado, passed from this life on earth to eternal life on August 31, 2015.  She was born September 29, 1933 in York, to Lydia Opfer Heiden and Christian Heiden.  Evelyn attended Zion Lutheran Parochial school in Hampton through the eighth grade where she loved learning scriptures.  She completed her high school years in Hampton where she enjoyed cheerleading and roller skating.  She met Marion Grudzinski on the roller skating rink and on November 18, 1951 they wed.  To this union four children were born:  Marion Kenneth Jr., Tommy Donald, John Karl, and Dian Denise.
Marion and Evelyn resided in Aurora until 1966, at which time they relocated to Burlington, Colorado.  Evelyn enjoyed being involved in church choir and many clubs and activities during her married life.  Bridge club, golf club, Scout leader and Investment Club were some of the activities she enjoyed.  Through these activities she made many lifelong friends.


Xavier 'Jerry' Montelongo

Xavier ‘Jerry’ Montelongo, 75, of Grand Island died Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at CHI Health St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 28 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Rev. Dhan Raj Marneni will officiate.
Burial will be in the Aurora Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a 7 p.m. Rosary. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at 524 West 10th St., Grand Island. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Xavier Montelongo, the son of Santos and Maria (Gonzalez) Montelongo, was born in Torreon Coahuila, Mexico on Oct. 31, 1939.


Myron Conrad Frevert

Services for Myron Conrad Frevert, 90, of Norfolk will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 24, 2015 at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk with the Rev. Chip Winter officiating. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. at the Bloomfield City Cemetery in Bloomfield on Monday.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, also at the funeral home. Military Rites will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4996, American Legion Post 249, of Bloomfield, and United States Army Honors Guard.
Myron entered into eternal rest on August 18, 2015 at the Stanton Health Center in Stanton NE.


Jay Brian Nylander

Jay Brian Nylander, 68, of Aurora died exercising on August 19, 2015…just the way he would have wanted it.
 Celebration of life services will be Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Rev Ron Harris and Rev Karla Sheffy will officiate. Jay’s wishes were to be cremated with ashes spread at Medicine Creek Dam in Cambridge. He always said he and his dad took plenty of “stuff” out of that lake, they may as well put something back in! The family will greet friends  from 5-7 p.m. on Friday evening at the Methodist Church in Aurora.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at  Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the Aurora Optimist Club, the Aurora United Methodist Church, or the Edgerton Explorit Center.


Marion May

Marion May, age 67, of Axtell, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015, at Mosaic in Axtell.
 Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 21 at 11 a.m. at Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora.  Chaplin John Gosswein will officiate.  Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lillian May Scholarship Fund in care of Mosaic, P.O.  Marion LeRoy May, the son of Maynard L. and Lillian F. (Andersen) May, was born at Valentine, on August 14, 1948 and passed away at Axtell, on August 17, 2015, at the age of 67.
 Marion lived with his parents at Valentine, Chapman, Grand Island, Denver, Pueblo and rural Phillips, until 1993 when he became a resident of Mosaic in Axtell.
