Janet Meyer

Janet Meyer, 81, passed away on January 21, 2017 after a short hospitalization and a brief stay at The Monarch in Lincoln. Services will be held on Friday, January 27, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Mosaic Foundation, or the Hamilton County Community Foundation.
Janet Marie was born in the middle of a dust storm on March 10, 1935 to Carl and Esther (Erickson) Lindquist of Funk. She graduated from Axtell High School in 1952 and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1956. She met Rex Meyer through their associations with Love Memorial Hall, FarmHouse Fraternity, and the Lutheran Student Association. They married in 1957 and moved to the family farm in Phillips where she lived until her recent hospitalization.

Richard Nuss

Richard Nuss, age 82, of Grand Island, formerly of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Bickford Cottage in Grand Island.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 24 at Higby-McQuiston Chapel. Rev. Mike Reiners will officiate. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Richard Lee Nuss, the son of Fred and Lucy (Bird) Nuss, was born at Aurora, on March 14, 1934, and passed away at Grand Island, Nebraska, on January 18, 2017, at the age of 82.
He grew up in Aurora, where he attended school.  Richard served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War.  He served at Air Force bases in Texas and Louisiana before being honorably discharged and returning to Aurora.

James "Jim" A. Heins

James “Jim” A. Heins, age 63, of York, entered his eternal rest on Wednesday January 18, 2017 at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln. He was born April 8 1953 in Amarillo, Texas to John K. Heins and Wanda Budnick.  On December 14, 1974 he was united in marriage to Donna Johnson and to this union they were blessed with two children, Chris Heins and Nikki (Heins) Cooper. Jim loved music and was a bass guitarist for many years. He loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and loved having backyard parties.  He and Donna adopted kids from York College, as well as, coached little league baseball and softball.

Roy Kliewer

Roy Kliewer, age 67, of Stockham, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Omaha. He was born February 8, 1949 in Aurora, to Albert and Mary (Mierau) Kliewer. On February 21, 1969 he was united in marriage to Helen Schell, and to this union two children were born. Roy attended schools in Stockham, York and Henderson. Roy and Helen owned and operated the Essan House in Henderson for ten years.
Roy worked for various farmers throughout his life and farmed with his son-in-law and grandson.

Coral Lea Jacobsen

Coral Lea Jacobsen, age 63, of Marquette, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017, at her home.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 23 at Countryside Bible Church. Pastor Rod Goertzen will officiate. A family burial service will be at the Hampton Village Cemetery prior to the service. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Countryside Bible Church, 904 South W Road, Hampton.  Memorials may be made to the Countryside Bible Church building fund or Samaritan Ministries.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Coral Lea was born in Central City, on March 23, 1953.  She is the daughter of James LeRoy and Bette (Hartford) Luff.  Coral Lea passed away in Marquette, on January 16, 2017, at the age of 63.

Lloyd Ljunggren

Lloyd Ljunggren, age 96, of Harvard, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at Perkins Village in Hastings.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 20 at the Evangelical Free Church in Aurora. Rev. Vance Christie will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday.  Memorials may be made to the Evangelical Free Church or the American Legion.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. LLoyd Dean Ljunggren, the son of Rudolph and Ida (Bieck) Ljunggren, was born on January 15, 1921 rural Harvard, and passed away in Hastings, on January 17, 2017, at the age of 96 years.
Lloyd grew up on a farm between Giltner and Harvard and attended school in Giltner.  Lloyd served two years in the U.S. Army during WWII.

William Richard Beacom, the son of Clifford and Alice (Dahlke) Beacom, was born in Stockham, on October 27, 1937 and passed away in Grand Island, on January 14, 2017, at the age of 79.
William grew up in California.  He graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School in 1957.  William worked at Walker Department Store where he met Judy.

Delson L. “Del” Cox, age 70, of Aurora, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Grand Island Lakeview in Grand Island.
A Memorial Service will be held at  10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 28 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora.  Rev. Mike McDermott and Rev. Delson LeRoy Cox, the son of Richard and Rita (Bates) Cox, was born in Maywood, on May 2, 1946 and passed away in Grand Island, on January 9, 2017, at the age of 70.

Don Harney, age 95, of Aurora, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 in Aurora, Nebraska.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 17 at the Aurora Evangelical Covenant Church.  Rev.  O. Donald Harney, the son of Oscar and Julia (Sandberg) Harney, was born in Marquette, on December 26, 1921 and passed away in Aurora, on January 10, 2017, at the age of 95.
Don graduated from Phillips High School in 1940.

Doris Iliff

Doris Iliff, age 94, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2016, at Hamilton Manor.
 Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 11 at the Aurora United Methodist Church.  Rev. Karla Sheffy will officiate.  Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Doris M. Iliff, the daughter of August and Maggie (Hinton) Hagemeister, was born in Frontier County, on June 24, 1922, and passed away at Aurora, on January 7, 2017, at the age of 94.
She graduated from Aurora High School and attended Kearney College to be able to teach country school.  Doris taught rural grade school in Hamilton County for six years.
