Kirk Douglas Lager

Kirk Douglas Lager, 62, of Lincoln, died March 3, 2016.  Kirk was born on June 23, 1953, in Aurora to Kenneth and Betty (Sims) Lager.
The funeral service was held on Sunday, March 6, 2016, at Butherus Maser and Love Funeral Home, 4040 A St, Lincoln. Visitation was held on Sunday at the funeral home.
He is survived by wife, Jackie Lager of Lincoln; daughter, Annastasia Lager of Lincoln; son, Kris (wife Regina) Lager of Omaha; grandchildren, Khristian, Karmen, Journey and Korrina; brother, Ken Lager; sisters, Sue (husband Paul) Hartshorn; Christine (husband Randy) Zeorian; Jolene (husband Bryan) Spale; nieces, Karri, Mandy, Sonya, Wendy, Danielle, JoNita, Cari, Bridget, Tonya, Angela, Alexa, Maddie and MacyClaire; nephews, Quentin, Jordan, Jason; many cousins, other family and friends
He is preceded in death by his parents, cousin Rick Larson and nephew Kelly Hartshorn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St Jude’s.

Larry Francis Collingham

Larry Collingham, age 64, of Aurora, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016 at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 12th at the Messiah Lutheran Church. Rev. Howard Rasmussen and Pastor Jim Garfield will officiate. Larry Francis Collingham, Sr., the son of Orion and Mary Frances (Schafer) Collingham, was born in Aurora, Nebraska on October 28, 1951 and passed away in Aurora, Nebraska on March 4, 2016, at the age of 64.

Georjean 'Jean' Sorensen

Georjean ‘Jean’ Sorensen, age 89, of Aurora, formerly of Marquette, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016, at the Hamilton Manor.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 7 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Rev. Ben Erzkus will officiate. Interment will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Georjean Nora Sorensen, the daughter of George and Sigrid (Berg) Jensen, was born in Crescent, Iowa on January 13, 1927, and passed away in Aurora, on March 3, 2016, at the age of 89.
Jean grew up in Crescent, Iowa and was one of 11 children.  She spent her childhood helping care for her siblings and with farm chores.

Lois Darlington

Lois Darlington, age 83, of Kearney, formerly of Aurora and Grand Island, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney.
 A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 9 at the Memorial Community Care Dining Room in Aurora.   Rev.  Lois Mae Darlington was born in Franklin, on May 4, 1932 and passed away in Kearney, on February 24, 2016, at the age of 83.
 Lois grew up in Franklin.  She trained as a nurse, earning her LPN Diploma.

Carol (Schow) Mowitz Lyon

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, volunteer and friend to anyone she ever met, Carol (Schow) Mowitz Lyon passed away February 20, 2016, surrounded by her family after a short battle with recently diagnosed cancer at the age of 90. She was a resident of the Legacy Retirement Community in Lincoln.   
Carol was born in Blomkest, Minnesota, on July 7, 1925 to Grace Molenaar and Carter Schow.
She met her future husband, Navy Seabee, Eldred Mowitz, of Hampton, while serving as a Navy Wave as part of the Navy Hospital Corp during World War II. Carol and Eldred were married on September 9, 1946 in Blomkest, Minnesota, before moving to Hampton to farm. Carol and Eldred would have five children. When not tending to children, and, then later, grandchildren, in addition to assisting with the farm, Carol reveled in gardening, participating in the Hamilton County Extension Club and traveling extensively throughout Europe with Eldred.

 Marlyn Kay Friesen, the daughter of W.K. and Betty (Hinkle) Bailey, was born in Palmer, on April 22, 1947 and passed away in Aurora, age of 68.
 Marlyn grew up in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School in 1965.

Rosemary Lou Schnakenberg

Rosemary Lou Schnakenberg, 77, of Deshler, the daughter of Herman and Alma (Brettmann) Elvers was born August 19, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY.  She departed this life Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at her home in Deshler.
She grew up in the Deshler area attending school and graduating from Deshler High School with the class of 1956.  After high school she attended Fairbury Junior College.
Rose was baptized in Brooklyn, NY on October 16, 1938 at Flatbush Reformed Church and confirmed April 6, 1952 at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler, by Pastor R. Riensche.
Rose was united in marriage to Arlo Bartling in 1957.  This union was blessed with the birth of three children; Nicky, Daniel and Kristine.   Arlo later passed away in a car accident.
In 1962 she married Merlen Ray Schnakenberg and to this union four more children were added to the family: Shelly, Jodi, Jani, and Jamie.

James W. Smith

James W. Smith, 88, of Grand Island went to his heavenly promise Tuesday, February 16 after a brief illness at the Good Samaritan Village in Grand Island.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 20 at the Evangelical Free Church in Grand Island.  Reverend Dan Brenton will officiate.  Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
James Wilber Smith was born November 20, 1927, on a Clay County farm south of Harvard, as the second of five children to John and Mildred (Hill) Smith. Jim attended rural school until the family moved to a farm near El Dorado.  Jim continued school in El Dorado and Aurora and worked on the family farm until 1947.

Beverly J. Dunham

Beverly J. Dunham, age 83 of York, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 at York.  She was born June 30, 1932 in Hampton, to Ralph and Gladys (Dory) Reed.  Beverly and Warren Dunham were united in marriage on January 24, 1949 in York.  The union was blessed with seven children.
Beverly was a “jack of all trades.”  Besides taking care of her large family, she was an Avon dealer for many years, a member of First United Methodist Church in York, Deborah Circle, and the church Choir.  She was also a board member of Epworth Village and District President of United Methodist Women.  
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Dudley Warren (Yvonne) Dunham of Bolingbrook, IL, Holly Kelly of Shawnee, KS, Steve Dunham of York, Diane (Pat) Budler of Kearney, Janet (Freddy) Collins of Norton, VA, Jeff Dunham and Mark Dunham, both of York.

Gary Jo Oates

Grafton resident, Gary Jo Oates, 70, passed away suddenly Saturday, February 6, 2016, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva.
  A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 11, 2016, at the Federated Church in Sutton, with Pastor Michael Fink officiating.  Interment will follow at the Grafton Cemetery in Grafton.  Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5-8 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton.
  Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date.

  Gary was born on August 3, 1945 in Geneva, to Orville and Hazel (Elofson) Oates.  He was the youngest of 5 children.  His childhood was spent on the family farm southeast of Sutton.
  Gary attended Sutton Public School and graduated in 1963.
