Larry McGhghy

Larry G. McGhghy, age 61, of Aurora, Nebraska departed this life on Sunday March 15th, 2015 at Lakeside Hospital.
 
A memorial service will be held on Friday March 20th, at 1:30 pm at Zion Lutheran Church near Hampton, Nebraska.  Private interment will occur at a later time.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary of Aurora, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary site at www.higbymortuary.com
 
Larry Gene McGhghy, was born to Clarance and Mildred (Bethke) McGhghy on Jaunary 22, 1954 in Hebron, Nebraska.  He passed away on Sunday March 15th, 2015 at the age of 61.
 
Larry attended Lutheran School in Davenport and later transferred to what was then Hebron high school where later graduated with the class of 1972.

Earl Dick

Earl Dick, age, 89, of Aurora, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 20 at the Aurora United Methodist Church.  Rev. Ron Harris and Mark Dunham will officiate.  Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Earl Jim Dick, the son of George and Anna (Penner) Dick, was born on a farm south of Hampton, on March 23, 1925, and passed away on March 16, 2015 at Aurora, Nebraska at the age of 89.
He grew up in Hampton, where he attended country schools thru the 8th grade. Earl enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and served for three years before being honorably discharged in 1946.

Donald Vetter

Donald Vetter, age, 94, of Marquette, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Memorial Community Care.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 14 at the Aurora United Methodist Church.  Revs. Mary Scott, Jay Vetter and Molly Vetter will officiate.  Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery.  The casket will be open only during visitation on Friday, March 13th from 5-7 p.m. at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Donald Roy Vetter, the son of George Arthur and Inez Lenore (Hill) Vetter, was born near Murphy, on September 12, 1920, and passed away at Aurora, on March 11, 2015 at the age of 94.

Nita E. Larson

Nita E. Larson, 92 of Harlan, Iowa passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 10 from 4-7 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. A Prayer Service will be held Tuesday, March 10 at 7 p.m.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, March 11, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan, Iowa. Interment will be in the Harlan Cemetery, Harlan, Iowa.
Nita was born in Hays Springs, moved to Kronborg, attended high school in Hampton, then transferred to Aurora High School where she graduated in 1940.
Survivors include her sons: Dennis Larson (Marilyn Southard) of Decorah, Iowa, Roger Larson of Decorah, Iowa, and Kent (Marsha) Larson of Las Vegas, Nev; 2 grandchildren: Steven (Carrie) Larson and Allison (Terry) LaRue) and 4 great-grandchildren: Corinne, Merril, Matthew, and Hannah
Memorials are suggested to: Immanuel Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, Danish Immigrant Museum, or Shelby County Garden Club.

William (Bill) Strong

Funeral services for William (Bill) Strong, age 65, of Giltner, formerly of Bassett and O’Neill, were at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Faith Community Church in O’Neill, with burial in the O’Neill Prospect Cemetery.  Visitation was from 4-9 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill.  William passed away Sunday afternoon, March 1, 2015, at Bryan LGH West Hospital in Lincoln.  Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
William A. (Bill) Strong was born the 7th child of Earl and Jennie (Hauser) Strong at O’Neill, on March 25, 1949.  Bill grew up on a farm northeast of O’Neill.  After losing his father at an early age, Bill was so proud of his older brother Earl Jr., for all he had done to keep the family together.  Bill went to country school and graduated from O’Neill Public High school and many of those years he worked for Fuller and Son in O’Neill.

David Coles

David Coles, age 24, of Marquette, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015, as the result of a car accident.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 5 at the Evangelical Free Church, 1202 A Street in Aurora.  Rev. David Patrick Coles, the son of Marlin and Vivian (Ginther) Coles, was born in Billings, Montana on September 24, 1990 and passed away in Papillion, on March 1, 2015, at the age of 24.

Betty Lois Luby Rynehart

Betty Lois Luby Rhynehart, 85, died in The Woodlands, Texas on Feb. 20, 2015 due to complications of a stroke.
Betty was born in Giltner, on March 11, 1929 to John Joseph and Clara Harriet Kingston Luby. She was the seventh of eleven children. At seventeen years of age, she completed her education in Giltner and also fulfilled the requirements to become a teacher. Walking four miles every morning to reach the school, her original class consisted of eight pupils varying in ages from first to eighth grade.
Following her three years of country school teaching, she worked in both Dallas and New York City before she began working at the Cornhusker Ordnance Plant in Grand Island. During that time she married Clarence Rhynehart. In 1972, Clarence was transferred from the Grand Island Ordnance Plant to Pantex Plant near Amarillo.

Frances 'Fran' Jensen

Frances ‘Fran’ Jensen, age 77, of Marquette, passed away Friday, February 27, 2015 at Golden Living Lakeview in Grand Island.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 4 at the First Christian Church in Aurora.  Rev. Frances Elinor Jensen, the third child of Ernest and Alice (Wind) Dahlke, was born in Aurora, on November 9, 1937 and passed away in Grand Island, on February 27, 2015 at the age of 77.
Fran attended Aurora Public Schools through the 11th grade and graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska Extension Division in May of 1970.

Jack C. Carpenter

Jack C. Carpenter, age  82, died on February 26, 2015 in Overland Park, Kansas.  He was born on January 20, 1933, in Geneva, Ohio.  Jack graduated from Geneva High School in 1951 and attended Kent State University.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955.  Jack was united in marriage to Joyce Sward on May 7, 1955, in Ashtabula, Ohio where they resided until 1976.  Jack and Joyce moved to Hordville, where he managed Covenant Cedars Bible Camp for several years.  Jack worked for the Nebraska Department of Labor in Grand Island from 1981 until his retirement in 1995.  In 2007 Jack and Joyce moved to Overland Park, Kansas.
Jack is survived by his wife; Joyce, daughter; Kay (Norman) Kronberg of Stromsburg, and grandsons; Ryan, Jordan (Stephanie), and Leighton (Ann) Kronberg and his son; Scott (Denise) Carpenter of Olathe, Kansas and granddaughters; Laura and Sarah.

Julia Ann Madsen

Julia Ann Madsen, of Aurora, died at Good Samaritan Society in Grand Island on Thursday, February 26, 2015.  Memorial services will be on Saturday, March 7 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Kronborg with Rev. George Matthews officiating.  Interment will be in the United Lutheran Cemetery near Hampton at a later date.  Solt Funeral Home of Central City is in charge of the arrangements.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltfh.com.
