Mary I. Juett

Mary I. Juett of Redwood City, Calif. passed away at her home on March 28, 2016.
 She was born March 4, 1920  in Phillips to Marcus Nicholas Baker and Minnie Armena Sharp.
She was married to Clarence Mont Juett who passed away on Feb. 10, 2006. They were married Aug. 4, 1942 in Phillips.
Mary worked as an elevator operator in Seattle, Wash. while Clarence was in the army air corp duties and in the1950’s was home tech for four boys.
She is survived by: son Richard Lee Juett and three nephews from Clarence’s sister Josephine Baker, Roger Baker, Dennis Baker and their families; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death  by sister-in-law Josephine in 1984; nephew Kennith E. Baker in 1998; sister Blanch I. Baker Dau. in 2005 and spouse, Clarence M. Juett in 2006.

Norma D. Friesen

Norma D. Friesen, age 90, of Henderson, Nebraska passed away Sunday, April 24,2016 at  Henderson. She was born on August 17, 1925, in Henderson to William and Marie Siebert (Siebert).
On April 27, 1944, Norma married Walter A. Friesen in Henderson, and to them 4 children were born, Wally, Twila, Nyla and Dianne. She was a member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church, and enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers, sewing, and baking. She was a past president of the Hospital Auxiliary, Mission Circle, Flower Club, and was the Nebraska MCC Canner Chairman.

Steven Smith

Steven Smith, age 54, of Aurora, formerly of Lincoln, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016, at his home.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday evening at Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora, 415 S. 18th Street.  Private family inurnment will be in the Aurora Cemetery.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Steven Patrick Smith, the son of Arlie C. and Marjorie (Sanderson) Smith, was born at Grand Island, on March 17, 1962 and passed away in Aurora, on April 24, 2016, at the age of 54.
Steve grew up on the family farm in the Marquette area. He graduated from Aurora High School in 1980.  Following his graduation he attended Nebraska Wesleyan.

Robert Nels (Bob) Blomstrand

Robert Nels (Bob) Blomstrand, age 89, formerly of Aurora, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, April 19, 2016, after a brief illness in Sierra Vista, Arizona.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2016 in the Aurora Cemetery, Aurora.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday evening, April 29, 2016 at Higby - McQuiston Mortuary.  A memorial service will be held in Green Valley, Arizona at a later date.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at http://www.higbymortuary.com/ as well as Sierra Vista’s Hatfield Mortuary website at http://www.hatfieldfh.com/.
Robert Nels (Bob) Blomstrand, the son of Gregory R. and Laura (Weedin) Blomstrand, Sr., was born in Aurora, on August 21, 1926 and died in Sierra Vista, Arizona on April 19, 2016, at the age of 89 years.

LaVonne Marie Law Hutsell

LaVonne Marie Law Hutsell was born on August 20, 1936 in Stromsburg, to Oscar Wallace “Wally” and Marie Christine Neujahr Law. At the age of 3 the family moved to York, where LaVonne attended elementary and high school.  She later went on to graduate from Grand Island School of Business.  She was baptized and confirmed in the First Evangelical Church in York.
On May 11, 1956 she was united in marriage to Dale Hutsell and to this union were born three sons.  The family lived near Marquette and for 17 years LaVonne worked as a secretary at the Marquette schools.  Following the death of her husband Dale, she moved to San Diego, California where she worked as a mortgage company administration assistant.  LaVonne retired in 2004 and moved to Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Charles "Tom" Dodge

Charles “Tom” Dodge passed away on April 2nd, 2016 at the age of 75. Tom is preceded in death by his parents Charles Sr. and Evelyn Dodge; his siblings Mary Louise Dodge, Laurel Reynolds, Sandra Reynolds, Charles B. Reynolds; his son Timmy Dodge and his wife Patricia Dodge. He is survived by daughters Jennifer Newcombe, Jessika Black, Karen Higgins, Kimberly Mclamb, Tammy Sylvester, Cherie Libby; his sons Charlie Dodge, William Dodge, Lee Dodge and his brother Henry Dodge.

Tom was a jack of all trades and enjoyed the outside, he particularly loved fishing and walking his beloved dog, Doodle. Tom will be remembered for his wit and his generosity, as well as his devotion to his numerous grandchildren.

Services will be held in Laurel, Delaware. Flowers and condolences may be sent to 17249 Phillips Hill Road Laurel, DE 19956.

Henry E. Kliewer

Henry E Kliewer, age 84, of Aurora, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016, with family at his side at Memorial Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 14 at Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson.  Rev. Jim Voth will officiate. Private Family inurnment will be at a later date.  Henry donated his body to science. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Nebraska Mennonite Central Committee Relief Sale.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Henry E. Kliewer was born on December 11, 1931, to Henry A and Elizabeth (Wieler) Kliewer in Henderson.

Henry H. Quiring

Henry H. Quiring, age 92 of Henderson, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Henderson Hospital in Henderson.  He was born October 2, 1923 in rural Hampton, to John P. and Katherine (Toews) Quiring.  He was a graduate of Hampton High School and was united in marriage to Miriam  R. Regier on August 6, 1950 at Henderson.  Henry was a lifelong farmer in the Henderson area and was a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church in Henderson.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of sixty-five years, Miriam of Henderson; three daughters, Connie (Marion) Travis of Lincoln, Joyce Nielsen of Aurora and Gaylene (Nick) Grosshans of Aurora; grandchildren:  Brandon (Tanya) Grosshans, Carrie (Mike) Crosby, Darrin Grosshans and Katie (Nick) Travis; great-grandchildren, Abbigale, Levi, Luke and Eli Grosshans, and Kaylee and Kayden Crosby.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.

Clarence 'Pat' Cline

Clarence “Pat” Cline, a grandson of the 1871 Stockham pioneer Tom Salmon, died in his sleep April 3 at Brookdale Assisted Living Home in La Crosse, Wisc.
Pat Cline, the son of Leslie and Mildred Salmon Cline, was 92. He was born at Phillips on Dec. 28, 1923, but spent most of his life in Wisconsin.
The military funeral will be at  12 p.m. on April 16 at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home at Onalaska, Wisc. The folded flag will be presented to Pat’s grandson Tom Boenigk, who served in the Army National Guard for two tours in Iraq. He’s the son of Maureen Cline and Richard Boenigk. Pat’s favorite song “Sentimental Journey” will be sung in the ceremony.
 Pat Cline’s life will be remembered at the June 19 Salmon Pioneer Family Association Reunion at the Bremer Center in Aurora. The reunion is on a Sunday at 1:30 this year, but for over 20 years was on the third Saturday.
