Olga Peters

Olga Margaret Penner Peters of Henderson died peacefully on Wednesday, May 6,2015. She attained the age of 102 years, 10 months and 7 days.
Olga was born the third child of Jacob J and Margaret Penner in Munich, ND on June 29, 1912.
She lived in Munich until her early teens when her family moved to Henderson. She completed 8th grade and attended one year of German High School. She was baptized into the membership of the Bethesda Mennonite Church on May 16,1932 and remained a faithful member until her death.

Anne Birdsall

Anne Marie (Wodder) Birdsall, age 90, of Osage, Iowa, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.
Cremation has taken place. A joint memorial service for Anne and her late husband, Wes, is being planned for later this summer.  Please check back with the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home website and the Mitchell County Press News for details on the service.
Memorial gifts in Anne’s honor may be made to St. Croix Hospice in New Hampton, or the music program at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage.
Anne was born in Aurora, on May 15, 1924, the daughter of Niels and Laura (Nielsen) Wodder. She graduated from Marquette High School in 1942 and University of Nebraska in 1946 with a B.A. in Education. Anne married Weston Birdsall on May 29, 1943, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg. To this union were born five children:  Susanne, Sonne, Scott, Shan, and Steven.

Bea Hartzell

Bea Hartzell, age 82, of Aurora, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Memorial Community Care after a brief illness.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 11 at Messiah Lutheran Church.  Rev. Ron Harris will officiate. Inurnment will be at the Aurora Cemetery.  There will be no visitation.  Memorials will be made to the family to be designated at a later time.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Benilda Marie Hartzell, the daughter of Ben and Marguerite (Orendorff) Budler, was born in Hampton, on November 25, 1932 and passed away in Aurora, on May 6, 2015, at the age of 82.
She grew up in Hampton and graduated from Hampton High School.

Lloyd Edward Pretzer

Lloyd Edward Pretzer, 92, of Beatrice, died Monday, April 20, at the Homestead House.  
He was born on Oct. 27, 1922, to Albert and Bertha (Moschel) Pretzer on a farm north of Beatrice.  In the early 1930s, the family purchased a new farm and moved south of Beatrice. He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1941. He married Delores D. Reinwald on April 27, 1952.
Lloyd began farming with his father and continued the agricultural operation with his son, Mark. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church for 74 years. He served for many years on the board of rural School District 101 and the ASCS board. A skilled woodworker, Lloyd also enjoyed collecting and polishing rocks and gems. In his retirement years, he and Delores travelled extensively. He took great pleasure in his grandchildren and their activities.

Jeanne Ortegren

Jeanne Glover Swedberg Ortegren, 91 of Lincoln passed away May 1, 2015.  Jeanne was born in Winnebago, January 12, 1924.  She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter E.S.; former secretary and choir member of Back to the Bible Broadcast; and former Associate Phelps County Judge.  She was a musician; organist, pianist, played guitar, studied voice and was a former member of the South Dakota State University Symphony Orchestra as a cellist at Brookings, SD.  She played the violin in a string ensemble at St. Francis, KS. She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; and was a member of Hope Community Church in Lincoln.

Ron "Joe" Bovill

Ron “Joe” Bovill, 76, of Kearney, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 28, 2015 after a nearly three year battle with cancer.  
A Memorial Mass will be on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Kearney.  Father Joe Hannappel will celebrate and private family burial will be later.  There will be no Visitation. A Vigil Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at the church.  In lieu of gifts and flowers, Memorials may be directed to the Ron Bovill and Jane Ziebarth-Bovill Scholarship Fund at the University of Nebraska Foundation. Bill L. Bamesberger

Bill L. Bamesberger, 80, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, in Hastings.  Services will be Monday, May 4, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, in Grand Island.  The Rev. Sheri Lodel will officiate.  Military honors will be provided by the United Veterans Honor Guard, the U.S. Army Honor Team and the G.I.F.D. Honor Guard.   Private family inurnment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday, May 3, 2015, from 4-7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel.   Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Bill was born September 10, 1934, in Aurora.  He was the son of William Martin Fred and Ruby A. (Salmon) Bamesberger.

Sharon Bahe

Sharon Bahe, age 77, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at her home.
A Memorial Service will be held 4:30 p.m., Thursday, April 30 at the Aurora United Methodist Church.  Rev. Mary Scott will officiate. The family will hold a day of celebration on June 27, with more details to follow.   Inurnment will take place at that time in the Aurora Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.  Higby-McQuiston is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Sharon Ann Bahe, the daughter of Roy and Freda (Hofrichter) Carter, was born at Hebron, on June 27, 1937, and passed away at Aurora, on April 21, 2015, at the age of 77.
She was raised in Bruning, and graduated from Bruning High School.  Sharon received her B.S. in Psychology from University of Nebraska – Lincoln.

Patricia "Pat" M. Wergin

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the Milford United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Kelley officiating. Interment will be in Blue Mound Cemetery, Milford. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. on Monday, at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Milford with family receiving relatives and friends 6-8 at funeral home. Memorials have been established to the Harold and Patricia Wergin scholarship fund in care of Milford Public Schools.

Lois E. Arnett

Lois E. Arnett, 92, of Aurora, formerly of Phillips, died Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island.  Burial will be in the Phillips Cemetery at Phillips.  There will be no public visitation.  Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
Lois Ethel Arnett was born August 11, 1922, at rural Benedict, to Perry and Ethel (Pendell) Cudaback.  The family moved when she was a child, between York and McCool Junction.  She attended school at McCool Junction and later the family relocated southeast of Giltner.  Lois graduated from Giltner High School in 1941.
Following her education, she cared for an elderly woman and then lived in Lincoln where she was employed as a secretary at the air base.  She then moved to Washington, D.C. and worked as a secretary for the Veterans Administration.
