Shirley (Kissel) Fletcher

Shirley Mae Kissel Fletcher, the daughter of Milo Lester and Ada Mae (Jones) Kissel, was born in Aurora on Nov. 8, 1931 and died in Carmichael, Calif. on July 28, 2016 at the age of 84. Graveside services for Shirley will be held, Thursday August 11, 2016, at 9:30 am at the Aurora Cemetery. A gathering time will be held at the First Christian Church following services.  Pastor Bruce Bradley will be officiating.
She was born and raised in Aurora. Shirley graduated from Aurora High School in 1949. After graduation, Shirley married Kenneth R. Fletcher. They lived in Omaha, Lincoln and Geneva until they moved to Colorado, Louisiana, and finally settled in Belmont, Calif.

Doug Troester

Doug Troester, age 64, of Glenwood, Iowa, formerly of Hampton, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016, at the Life Care Center in Omaha.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 29 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton. Rev. Jim Gruber will officiate. Private family inurnment will be in the Salem Cemetery. Douglas James Troester, the son of Melvin Paul and Wynona (Carlson) Troester, was born at York, on December 23, 1951 and passed away in Omaha, on July 25, 2016, at the age of 64.
Doug grew up in Hampton and graduated from Hampton High School in 1970.  He was a very talented baseball and football player.  Doug attended Kearney College for a year.  Doug returned to the family farm to farm with his father.

Elma M. Crossley

Elma M. Crossley, age 100 of Aurora, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 in Aurora.  She was born on April 29, 1916 in Hamilton County, to Henry and Elizabeth Nachtigal.  She was the only girl in a family of seven boys.  They moved to Oklahoma when Elma was four years old.  There were many happy times in Oklahoma with family and friends.  They moved back to Nebraska when Elma was in the sixth grade.  At a young age she trusted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized in 1929.  She was united in marriage to Harry Epp and to this union was born one son, Robert and three daughters, Joan, Ruth and Rachel.  After the death of Harry, Elma married LeRoy Crossley and lived with him until his death in 1983.
Elma enjoyed church involvements.  She taught Sunday School and Bible School, was part of the Sewing Circle for many years, and enjoyed the fellowship with other Christians.  She particularly liked piecing comforters in Sewing Circle.

LaVern Klute, age 86, of Hampton, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016, at CHI-St. Francis Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 28 at Zion Lutheran Church, northeast of Hampton.  Rev. Jim Gruber and Pastor David Ohlman will officiate.  Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, 1511 North Y Road, Hampton.  LaVern Lewis Klute, son of Reinhard and Minnie Klute (Dethloff) was born near Hampton, on December 29, 1929 and passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Grand Island, at the age of 86.
 He was baptized on January 12, 1930 and he was confirmed on May 21, 1944 at Zion Lutheran Church of Hampton.   He was the youngest of 6 boys and attended Zion Lutheran School and graduated from Hampton High School.

Larry Curtis Beitel

Larry Curtis Beitel, age 67 of Sargent, passed away July 19, 2016 at Jennie Melham Hospital in Broken Bow.
Services were held on Saturday July 23, 2016 at 3 p.m. at the Sargent Community Center with Pastor Don Schauda and Pastor Al Seadore officiating and burial services to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Visitation was held on Friday evening from 5-9 p.m. at the E-Free Church in Sargent with the family greeting friends from 7-9 p.m.  Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements.

Ronald E. Obermeier, 76, of Cairo, formerly of Giltner, died July 15, 2016, at CHI Health St. Francis, Grand Island, Nebraska, with his family by his side. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at the Cairo United Methodist Church, 506 E. Kansas St, Cairo, Nebraska, with Pastor Catherine Love officiating. Lunch will immediately follow the service and then the burial with military honors will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at the Cairo United Methodist Church. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is serving the family. Katie (Heiden) Norris, age 35, of Estes Park, Colo., passed away in her sleep Friday, July 15, 2016 in Drake, Colo.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 P.M., Saturday, July 23 at the Countryside Bible Church south of Hampton. Pastor Rod Goertzen will officiate. Katherine ‘Katie’ Lee Norris, the daughter of Fred and Ann (Wall) Heiden was born in Denver, Colo. on Feb. 23, 1981. Katie graduated from Hampton High School in 1999. She attended John Brown University in Salome Springs, Ark., with her education in early childhood development.

Marilyn Faye Beber, 79, of Stromsburg, died on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Midwest Covenant Homes in Stromsburg.  Funeral services will be on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Polk with Rev. Linda Marie LInder

Linda Marie Linder, 104, of Aurora, died on Monday, Dec. 7, 2015 at Aurora Memorial Community Care. A Committal Service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Aurora Cemetery.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her foster son DeWayne “Jack” Clark, two infant children, nine brothers and three sisters.

Welma Lorine Klute, the daughter of Richard F. and Emma (Driewer) Zierott, was born at Hampton, on May 7, 1919 and passed away in Aurora, on July 13, 2016, at the age of 97.
Welma was baptized by the late Rev. C.F. Brommer on May 18, 1919.  She went to parochial school at Zion Lutheran in Hampton and was confirmed May 1, 1932 by the late Rev. H. Degner.
