Paul J. Clayton

Paul J. Clayton, 70, of Central City, died on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Litzenberg Memorial Long Term Care in Central City.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Central City on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 10 a.m. with Father David Fulton, Monsignor Nelson Newman, and Father Mark Pfeifer officiating.  Visitation with family will be on Thursday, October 12 from 5-7 pm. at the church, with a Vigil service at 7 p.m. Inurnment will be at the Hordville Cemetery immediately following the memorial service.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltwagnerfuneral.com.

Maurice Weller

Maurice Weller, age 87, of Aurora, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017, at his home.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 14 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora.  Rev. Loras Grell will officiate.  Inurnment will be in the Giltner Cemetery at a later date. No Visitation.  Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date. Maurice Glenn Weller, the son of Max and Mary Louise (Grow) Weller, was born at Gibbon, on December 6, 1929 and passed away in Aurora, on October 9, 2017, at the age of 87.

Elaine Heins

Elaine Heins, age 87, of Hampton, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 13 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Karla Sheffy will officiate. Interment will be in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Elaine R. Heins, the daughter of John and Alma (Enderle) Weehler, was born in Loup City, on December 26, 1929 and passed away in Aurora, on October 8, 2017, at the age of 87.
Elaine attended school in Loup City and graduated from high school in 1947.  She moved to Hamilton County in 1947, where she remained a resident until her death.

Rod DeMaranville

Roderick C. “Rod” DeMaranville, age 67, of Jacksonport, Wisconsin, died on October 2, 2017, at the Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin, surrounded by his family.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Higby-McQuiston Mortuary Chapel in Aurora, followed immediately by a luncheon at the Bremer Community Center. Rev. Ron Harris will officiate.  An additional service will be held in Jacksonport at a date to be determined.  Memorials may be made to the family for later designation.
Rod was born May 21, 1950 in Aurora, to Eugene and Arlene (Ross) DeMaranville.  He graduated from Aurora High School in 1968.  He served in the United States Army and was deployed to Vietnam with a Field Artillery unit, from 1970-1971, and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal.

Shirley A. Volquardsen

Shirley A. Volquardsen, 86, of Grand Island, formerly of Cairo, died Thursday, October 5, 2017 with her family at her side.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church in Cairo.  Reverend Brian Wright will officiate.  A reception and time of fellowship will follow the service.  Burial will be at 1 p.m. in the Shelton Cemetery.  All Faiths Funeral Home of Grand Island is entrusted with arrangements.
Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9 at the church.
Shirley was born February 19, 1931 at Shelton to Clarence and Hazel (Marks) Doremus.  She grew up and received her education in Shelton.  Shirley also took a business course through Kearney State College and graduated from the Grand Island Beauty School in 1960.

Dorian James Bunker

Dorian James Bunker was born to James A. Bunker and Dorothy R. (Koca) Bunker on September 16, 1949, in Lincoln, and passed away on October 1, 2017, at Homestead Nursing Home, Lincoln, at the age of 68 years, 15 days.  He was the second of three children.
A Memorial Service for Dorian was held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Farmer & Son Funeral Home - Kotas Chapel in Milligan, with Pastor Pat Norris officiating.
Military Graveside Services were held following the Memorial Service at the Bohemian National Cemetery in Milligan,  with the Milligan American Legion - HSSK Post 240 conducting the military honors.
Memorials were directed to the family for a later designation.
There were 2 recorded songs for Dorian’s service and they were “Amazing Grace” by LeAnn Rimes and “Go Rest High On That Mountain” by Vince Gill.
Honorary Pallbearers were all of Dorian’s first cousins.

Bobby Young-Mentgen

Bobby Young-Mentgen, age 68, of Bradshaw, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017, at her home.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 7 at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora.  Rev. Loren Cooper will officiate.   Inurnment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.  No Visitation.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Bobby Gayle Young-Mentgen, the daughter of Robert Weldon and Donna Lee (Dodge) Puffinbarger was born in Lincoln, on February 13, 1949 and passed away in Bradshaw, on October 2, 2017, at the age of 68.
Bobby was very close to receiving her doctorate in Psychology.  Bobby graduated with Masters Degrees from Peru State College, University of Nebraska-Kearney and Doane College.  She was the consummate career student.

Leanna I. Loftis

Leanna I. Loftis, 90, of Central City, died Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Litzenberg Memorial Long Term Care in Central City.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City with Pastor Nelson Rossi officiating.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, October 9.  Burial will be in the Hartington Cemetery.
Leanna Irene was born February 14, 1927 to George and Bertha (Harms) Konken in Coleridge.  Leanna grew up in Northeastern Nebraska.  She married Warren Loftis on June 4, 1951.  Leanna moved with her family to Atkinson, in the 1960’s.  In 1969 they then moved to Central City.  She worked as a cook at the West Gate Café and then Litzenberg Hospital.  She retired from Litzenberg in 1989 and remained living in Central City.
Leanna was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church in Aurora.  She enjoyed spending her time crocheting, gardening and canning.

Richard "Dick" Myers

Richard “Dick” Myers, 83, of Phillips passed away at his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, October 4, 2017.
To honor Dick’s wishes cremation has been chosen. Private family services will be held at a later date.
All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Dick was born on September 25, 1934 in Belgrade, son of Clifford and Mildred (Hughes) Myers.
Dick is survived by his wife, Esther of Phillips; sons, Ron Myers of Grand Island, Robert (Lori) Myers of Murry, IA, Randy Myers of Grand Island; stepsons, John (Grace) Arp of Omaha and Bruce (Gail) Arp of Weston; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Verna Jean; mother of his sons, Irene.

Audrey Ellen Weedin

Audrey Ellen Weedin, 86, formerly of Grand Island, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017.
A celebration of Audrey’s life will be held at the All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 10 a.m.  The Reverend Gene Arnold will officiate. To honor Audrey’s wishes cremation was chosen.
Audrey was born on January 1, 1931 on the family farm southwest of Aurora. Her parents were James Reisinger and Evelyn (Morss) Reisinger.  Audrey lived on the family farm during her early years and graduated from School District 87 in Hamilton County.
