Mary Ratzlaff

Mary Ratzlaff, age 93, of Stockham, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, at her home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 18 at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel.  Rev. Paul Nauman will officiate.  Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday evening at the mortuary.  Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date. Mary Ratzlaff, the daughter of Monico and Eloisa (Rodriquez) Montoya was born in Jensen, Colo., joining her nine siblings on March 3, 1925 and passed away in Stockham, on Feb. 13, 2019, at the age of 93.
Mary graduated high school and attended business school before working at the Unemployment office in Omaha, where she met the man she was to marry.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 11th & M Street, Lincoln. Visitation will be Thursday from 1-8 p.m. at Lauber Funeral Home, Milford, with family greeting relatives and friends from 5-7 p.m. Also one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Memorials have been established and are directed in care of the family.

Leota Griess

 Sutton resident Leota Griess, 60, went to be with the Lord Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, at her home in Sutton, where she no longer has pain or suffering.
  Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at Hope Reformed Church in Sutton with Pastor Scott Henry officiating.  Interment will follow at the Sutton Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday, from 1-8 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton.
  In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hope Reformed Church or the Sutton Community Home Foundation.

Barbara Nadine Ott

Barbara Nadine Ott, 65 of rural Greenfield passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019 surrounded by family at her home.  Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Committal service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the Aurora Cemetery in Aurora.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Bethel Baptist Church.  Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.

Anna Marie Bowens

Anna Marie Bowens was born on Aug. 30, 1953 in Huntington, Long Island, New York. She passed away suddenly on Jan. 25, 2019 in Apache Junction, AZ. Her beloved cat Mitchell joined her 5 days later.
She was raised in Northport, Long Island, NY by loving parents. She grew up with a brother and sister.
Anna’s work experience was primarily in Arizona and Nebraska. It was a varied career from Cosmetology, Scottsdale Princess Hotel, Dillards, Nissen, Iams, Aurora Cooperative, and Hamilton Telecommunications.
Anyone who met Anna was taken with her beauty, her smile and her open, easy going way. She was, however, foremost and most importantly, an artist.
She had an eye for taking photos that were different, fresh, unique and breathtaking.

Ervin Eugene Schulze

I was born at home, Oct. 3, 1935 to Henry and Matilda (Stach) Schulze in rural Hordville, near Polk.  I was the youngest of four children born to Hank and Tillie.  Jesus called me Home on Feb. 6, 2019, at the age of 83, as I was surrounded by my family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 9 at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Hampton.  Rev. David Feddern and Pastor Loren Cooper will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Zion Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday evening at the Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family to designate at a later date. Donald Mickey

Donald Mickey, age 81, of Aurora, formerly of Osceola, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 9 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora.  Rev. Loras Grell will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Donald Wayne Mickey, the son of John and Ethel (Waite) Mickey, was born in Osceola, on Aug. 8, 1937 and passed away in Aurora, on Feb. 6, 2019, at the age of 81.
Don grew up on a farm near Osceola.  He attended school in Osceola and graduated from Osceola High School.

Sandra Smith

Sandra Jean Smith was born on May 20, 1949 in Aurora to Morris and Dorothy Smith. She was the 2nd of 3 children. She graduated from Aurora High School in 1967. She graduated from Weaver Airline School and moved to Peoria, Illinois where she worked for Ozark Airlines. Throughout her life she lived in various places before settling in Phoenix, AZ where she was living at the time of her death.
Sandra passed away suddenly, unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 19, 2019 while on vacation in Hawaii.  
She is survived by two sons, Christopher (Erika) and Bradley Gardiner, grandsons, Robert, Joseph and Timothy, granddaughter Elena, brother Randy (Marie) Smith, nieces Melanie (Mike) Friend and Vicki (Justus) Taylor, partner Gary, and her dog Teddy.
A memorial service was held Feb. 2, 2019 at Open Door Fellowship in Phoenix, AZ.

Virginia (Granstrom) Morgan

Virginia (Granstrom) Morgan, 91, of Aurora, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019 in Aurora.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 2 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Greg Reed will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Virginia Emma Granstrom Morgan, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Petersen) Granstrom, was born on the family farm near Minden, on Feb. 20, 1927, and passed away at Aurora, on Jan. 30, 2019, at the age of 91.

Alice (Colvert) Masilko

Alice Maude (Colvert) Masilko of Aurora, formerly of Lincoln, died at Memorial Community Care on Jan. 24, 2019 at the young age of 102. She was born Aug. 28, 1916 to George David and Daisy (Garrison) Colvert. Alice was the second of six children born into this family. She attended country school, and later graduated from Beaver Crossing High School.
On March 31, 1951 Alice was united in marriage to Ed Masilko. Ed was a bakery supply salesman. Ed and Alice owned a jam/jelly business in Omaha and Highway Laundromat on Cornhusker Hwy. After Ed’s passing, Alice began cleaning homes while caring for her sister Jare.
At age 98 she gave up cleaning and moved to Aurora. She lived with Larry and Jolene Fox until she broke a hip. After a long recovery Alice moved into East Park Villa where she resided until August when she got pneumonia. She spent time in the hospital recovering, later moving to Memorial Community Care until her passing.
