David Coles

David Coles, age 24, of Marquette, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015, as the result of a car accident.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 5 at the Evangelical Free Church, 1202 A Street in Aurora.  Rev. Vance Christie will officiate.  Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.  Memorials may be made in care of the family.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
David Patrick Coles, the son of Marlin and Vivian (Ginther) Coles, was born in Billings, Montana on September 24, 1990 and passed away in Papillion, on March 1, 2015, at the age of 24.

Betty Lois Luby Rynehart

Betty Lois Luby Rhynehart, 85, died in The Woodlands, Texas on Feb. 20, 2015 due to complications of a stroke.
Betty was born in Giltner, on March 11, 1929 to John Joseph and Clara Harriet Kingston Luby. She was the seventh of eleven children. At seventeen years of age, she completed her education in Giltner and also fulfilled the requirements to become a teacher. Walking four miles every morning to reach the school, her original class consisted of eight pupils varying in ages from first to eighth grade.
Following her three years of country school teaching, she worked in both Dallas and New York City before she began working at the Cornhusker Ordnance Plant in Grand Island. During that time she married Clarence Rhynehart. In 1972, Clarence was transferred from the Grand Island Ordnance Plant to Pantex Plant near Amarillo.

Frances 'Fran' Jensen

Frances ‘Fran’ Jensen, age 77, of Marquette, passed away Friday, February 27, 2015 at Golden Living Lakeview in Grand Island.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 4 at the First Christian Church in Aurora.  Rev. Bruce Bradley will officiate.  Interment will be at the Aurora Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.   Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Frances Elinor Jensen, the third child of Ernest and Alice (Wind) Dahlke, was born in Aurora, on November 9, 1937 and passed away in Grand Island, on February 27, 2015 at the age of 77.
Fran attended Aurora Public Schools through the 11th grade and graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska Extension Division in May of 1970.

Jack C. Carpenter

Jack C. Carpenter, age  82, died on February 26, 2015 in Overland Park, Kansas.  He was born on January 20, 1933, in Geneva, Ohio.  Jack graduated from Geneva High School in 1951 and attended Kent State University.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955.  Jack was united in marriage to Joyce Sward on May 7, 1955, in Ashtabula, Ohio where they resided until 1976.  Jack and Joyce moved to Hordville, where he managed Covenant Cedars Bible Camp for several years.  Jack worked for the Nebraska Department of Labor in Grand Island from 1981 until his retirement in 1995.  In 2007 Jack and Joyce moved to Overland Park, Kansas.
Jack is survived by his wife; Joyce, daughter; Kay (Norman) Kronberg of Stromsburg, and grandsons; Ryan, Jordan (Stephanie), and Leighton (Ann) Kronberg and his son; Scott (Denise) Carpenter of Olathe, Kansas and granddaughters; Laura and Sarah.

Julia Ann Madsen

Julia Ann Madsen, of Aurora, died at Good Samaritan Society in Grand Island on Thursday, February 26, 2015.  Memorial services will be on Saturday, March 7 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Kronborg with Rev. George Matthews officiating.  Interment will be in the United Lutheran Cemetery near Hampton at a later date.  Solt Funeral Home of Central City is in charge of the arrangements.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltfh.com.

Doris G. Bankson

Doris G. Bankson, 93, of Central City formerly of Hamilton County, died on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Litzenberg Long Term Care Center in Central City surrounded by her family.  Services are Saturday, February 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Fridhem Lutheran Church in Hordville with Rev. Terry Cosier officiating.  Visitation will be Friday, February 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Solt Funeral Home in Central City.  Interment is in the Hordville Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltfh.com.

Raylene Lawson

Raylene Lawson, age 52, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Memorial Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 24 at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora.  Pastor Chris Kester Beyer will officiate.  Inurnment will be at the United Lutheran Cemetery in Hampton.  The family will greet friends on Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran, 415 South 18th Street in Aurora.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Memorial Community Care.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Raylene Sue Lawson, the daughter of Raymond and Adell (Hillmer) Eichman, was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 17, 1962 and passed away in Aurora, on February 21, 2015 at the age of 52.

"Joe" Joseph P. Aalborg

“Joe” Joseph P. Aalborg, 74 of Giltner died Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
 Mass of Christian burial was held last Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island.  Burial was in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery at Giltner with military honors rendered by the Aurora American Legion Post 42.
 All Faiths Funeral Home served the family.
 Mr. Aalborg was born July 28, 1940 at Clarion, Iowa, the son of LeRoy and Wilma (Wanek) Aalborg.

Shirley Petersen

Shirley Petersen, age 80, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at Bryan/LGH East in Lincoln.
 Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 20 at the Presbyterian U.C.C. in Aurora.  Rev. Bruce Bradley will officiate.  Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul, at 2:30 p.m. Friday.   Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Church on Friday.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Shirley Jean Petersen, the daughter of John and Agnes (Kotrc) Jensen, was born at Palmer, on November 9, 1934, and passed away at Lincoln, on February 17, 2015, at the age of 80.
She grew up on a farm in Gage Valley and graduated from St. Paul High School.  She was employed at the ASC Office in St. Paul.  After moving to Aurora, Shirley did in-home babysitting and bookwork.  Shirley also worked for ATI in Aurora.
