Cara Nickolaus

Cara Anne Nickolaus, 25, of Cambridge, Massachusetts died September 20, 2015.  She was born in Lincoln on August 10, 1990 to Lowell and Jane (Empkey) Nickolaus.
 Cara was a 2009 graduate of Lincoln Northeast and a 2013 graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, MO.  She was working on her PhD at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge at the time of her death.  
Cara’s interest in academics started at an early age.  She was involved in Destination Imagination at Riley Elementary School.  At Culler Middle School she was active in Destination Imagination, Quiz Bowl, and played oboe in the band.

Roger Erickson

Roger Lawrence Erickson, of Clarks, departed his heavenly home on Monday, September 28, 2015.  Funeral services will be on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the downtown location of Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City, with Pastor Ford Shenk officiating.  Visitation will be on Thursday, October 1 from 5-7 p.m. also at the downtown location of Solt-Wagner Funeral Home.  Interment will be at the Lindale Cemetery near Hordville immediately following the funeral service.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltwagnerfuneral.com.

George E. Eberly

George E. Eberly, age 71, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015, at Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 30 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Pastors Ron Harris and Karla Sheffy will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Aurora United Methodist Church, 1104 A Street. George Ernest Eberly, the son of David E. and Alma (Florea) Eberly, was born in Republic, Kansas on May 4, 1944 and passed away in Aurora, on September 27, 2015, at the age of 71.

Norma R. Rohde

Norma R. Rohde of Aurora Community Care, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 24, 2015.  She was the youngest of six children, born to Henry and Minnie (Blase) Smith. She was born June 5, 1914 at Polk. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was baptized June 28, 1914 and confirmed April 1, 1928. On March 19, 1937 she was united in marriage to Lester Rohde of Hampton. At that time she became a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she has attended since. They were blessed with two daughters, Kathleen and Lavera.
Norma was hard working, loved to sew, quilt, and bake. She was her husband’s right hand on the farm, cooked many meals for corn shellers and hay crews. They retired to Hampton in 1976, where she continued to make quilts for the family, and made many World Relief quilts for the Zion Lutheran ladies aid. You never left her house without having coffee and homemade cookies.

Donovan L. Colby

Donovan L. Colby, age 88, of Aurora, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the Grand Island Veterans Home.

 Donovan Lee Colby, the son of Glenn E. and Odelia (Dyvig) Colby, was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on June 20, 1927 and passed away in Grand Island, on September 23, 2015, at the age of 88.
 Don lived in Valley Springs, South Dakota until the age of 11 when his parents moved to Avon, South Dakota.  Don attended Avon Public School graduating in 1945.  He served in the U.S. Army during WW II from September of 1945 to February of 1947.  Don was stationed in Germany at the Headquarters USFET as a courier.

Norma Jean Anderson

Norma Jean Anderson 84, of Lincoln, passed away September 15, 2015. She was born February 9, 1931 in Aurora, to Claude A. and Susie M. (Salmon) Rennau.  Norma was a homemaker most of her life but then worked for the University of Nebraska and Union Bank. She was a member of South Gate United Methodist Church. Family members include her son, Ronald (Susan) Anderson, Omaha; daughter, Jeanelle (James) Brester, Lincoln; grandchildren, Jenna and Jamie Brester; brother, Wayne (Betty) Rennau, Grand Island, and very special friend, Joseph Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Warren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 at  South Gate United Methodist Church, 3500 Pioneers Blvd., Lincoln with Pastor Eduardo Bousson officiating.

Deloris Ann Goertzen-Rempel

Deloris Ann Goertzen-Rempel, age 78, of Henderson, died Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Henderson. She was born on September 26, 1936 at Goessel, Kansas to Gerhard “George” R. and Anna (Friesen) Duerksen. She was a part-time employee for Henderson Care Center and Service Press.  She was a member of Bethesda Mennonite Church. On April 9, 1955, she was united in marriage to Glenn W. Goertzen at Henderson. They celebrated 39 years together before Glenn’s death in 1994.  Deloris later married John Rempel on November 28, 1996 at Henderson. She enjoyed Friendship Circle Club, Mission Circle, music, flowers, sewing, and helping around the farm.

Ward Andrews, age 95, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora

Ward Basil Andrews, the son of Enoch and Georgia Lenore (Rexroad) Andrews, was born at Pickens, West Virginia on April 30, 1920 and passed away in Aurora, on September 8, 2015, at the age of 95.

Marilyn Hahn

Marilyn Hahn, age 82, of Hickman, formerly of Hampton, passed away Monday, September 7, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 11 at the United Lutheran Church in Hampton. Rev. Howard Rasmussen will officiate. Interment will be in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Marilyn Joyce Hahn, the daughter of Virgil and Olga (Hansen) Wright, was born at Aurora, on January 10, 1933 and passed away in Lincoln, on September 7, 2015, at the age of 82.
She grew up on the family farm in Hamilton County, Marilyn attended Aurora High School.

Arthur Regier

Arthur Regier, age 92, of Henderson, died Monday, August 31, 2015 at Henderson.  He was born October 28, 1922 near Henderson to C. C. and Anna (Penner) Regier.   
Art and Mary Ann Ediger were united in marriage on March 24, 1950 at Henderson.  The union was blessed with two children, Steve and Deb.  Art farmed in the Hampton area and knew the value of hard work and strong faith.   He was a member of Mennonite Brethren Church.  He enjoyed the outdoors and loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his son Steve Regier from Sandy, Utah; daughter Deb Shepherd of Hampton. Grandchildren, Jade (Andrew) Gordon of Fruitland, UT, Jayson (Christina) Shepherd of York and Kerrie (Branden) Bonk of Las Vegas, NV; great-grandchildren, Mina, Destiny, Atley, Jordyn and McKenzye Shepherd of York; other family members and friends.
Preceding him in death were his wife, two grandsons, one son-in-law, one sister and four brothers.
