Rex Salmon

Rex L. Salmon of Lemon Grove, CA went to be with our Heavenly Father on Dec. 27, 2019.
Rex was born on Jan. 24, 1938 at home just outside Harvard, to A F “Shorty” and Luella May Delano Salmon.
Rex was the second of eight children.
As a kid Rex helped on the family farm and during that time he picked up animal noises. These noises became one of Rex’s signatures entertaining many with his animal sounds, including his famous, “Western Meadowlark”.
Rex always loved doing impressions of people, animals, even musical instruments.
As an adolescent, Rex started work at the Aurora News-Register as an apprentice.
Upon graduating Aurora High School in 1955, Rex enrolled at the University of Nebraska majoring in what else, Journalism.

Hayes Springer

Hayes Bryan Springer peacefully passed away Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Methodist Women’s Hospital in Omaha.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City with Pastor Karl Larson officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday, March 3, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later in Hayes’s name.  Condolences can be sent to the family at www.soltwagnerfuneral.com.
Hayes was born on February 27, 2020 in Omaha, to Zachery and Whitney (Bowman) Springer.  Zach and Whitney were able to spend some precious moments with their son.

Doris Senff

Doris Senff, formerly of Hampton, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Feb. 17, 2020 in Lincoln.
She was born in Ansley, to Gerald and Irene Russell. She had wonderful memories growing up playing ball in a pasture and picnics with her family and neighbors.
Doris felt a deep calling to serve others by offering her talents, abilities, time and resources to her family, church and community. As a token of the deep love she had for her family she spent endless hours making quilts for them and others as well. She also enjoyed volunteering for numerous local organizations and spent months researching her family genealogy. As her health and abilities declined, her faith remained strong that, in her passing, a greater hope, joy and peace awaited her.

Shirley Hosier

Shirley Hosier, age 92, of Aurora, passed away on Friday, Feb. 14, 2020, at Azria Healthcare Center in Central City.   
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m, Monday, Feb. 24 at the Aurora United Methodist Church, 1104 A Street.  Rev. Michelle Reed will officiate. Interment will be in the Fairbury Cemetery at 2 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be to the family to be designated at a later date. Shirley Ann Jones Hosier passed away on Feb. 14, 2020, in Central City, following a fairly long illness.  
She is survived by her son, Forrest Kent Hosier, her daughter-in-law, Paula, her grandson, Forrest William Hosier, all of Oregon, and her daughter Lori Ann Hosier of Aurora.

Dennis Ross

Dennis Ross, age 69, of Lincoln, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020, at his home after a long battle with MS.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18 at the Southern Heights Presbyterian Church, 5750 South 40th, Lincoln.  Rev.  Leanne Masters will officiate.  Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Aurora Cemetery in Aurora.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at Southern Heights Presbyterian Church in Lincoln.  Memorials may be made to Children’s Hospital/Rehab Department - Omaha, Nebraska.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Dennis LaVerne Ross, the son of Floyd H. and Verna M. (Cady) Ross, was born in Hastings, on July 13, 1950 and passed away in Lincoln, on Feb. 13, 2020, at the age of 69.

LouAnn DeBoer, age 88, of Aurora, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 19 at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Aurora. Rev. Penny Schulz will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. LouAnn Marie DeBoer, the daughter of William and Alma (Nielsen) DeBoer, was born in Aurora, on Sept. 20, 1931 and passed away in Grand Island, on Feb. 15, 2020, at the age of 88.

Rosena Watson

Rosena Watson, age 92, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora.

Rose (Dick) Watson, the daughter of George and Anna Dick was born in Hampton, on March 3, 1927, and passed away on Feb. 4, 2020 at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora at the age of 92.
Rose was the youngest of 13 children.  She taught at a country school in Hamilton County.
She married Bill Watson on Dec. 22, 1947.  She and her husband traveled to many areas in the United States in their RV before returning to make their home in Aurora.

Velma Hackman

Velma Ruth Burrows was born in Giltner April 19, 1933 to William Ruel Burrows and Ethel (Lindgren) Burrows. She passed away in Missouri Feb. 5, 2020 at the age of 86 with family by her side.  
She donated her body to science and the family will have a private interment later of her ashes.
Velma belonged to various church clubs as a member of the Giltner Methodist Church and later The Aurora Methodist Church.
She started a 100 Mile Club while living in Giltner to walk 100 miles during the spring and summer with neighbors.
Velma enjoyed family times, making her famous noodles and working in her flower garden!
She worked for American Greeting Cards for 24 years.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are three daughters and spouses, Dottie and Jeff Lash of Ozark, MO, Shari and Victor Jones of Nixa, MO and Sandie and Mark Palmer of Omaha.

Arthur (Lee) Scott

Arthur (Lee) Scott, age 92, of Aurora, passed away Monday, January 13, 2020, at the Westfield Quality Care in Aurora.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, February 15 at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Rev. Karl Larson will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.  Memorials may be made in care of the family to designate at a later date. Arthur Lee Scott, the son of H. W. and Mary Ruth (Logue) Scott, was born at Casper, Wyoming on June 15, 1927 and passed away at Aurora, on Jan. 13, 2020, at the age of 92.
He attended Grant School K-7, then Jr. High, then Natrona County High for four years, graduating in May 1945.  In high school he spent four years in Jr. R.O.T.C., attaining the rank of Captain, Commander of Company C.
