Laurine Bell

Laurine Bell, age 93, of Aurora, formerly of Giltner passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018, at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 11 at the Stockham Community Church. Rev. Paul Nauman will officiate. Interment will be in the Giltner Cemetery, prior to the service. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Laurine Anna Bell, the daughter of Harry and Anna (Dahlke) Johnson, was born in Phillips, on January 4, 1925 and passed away in Aurora, on May 4, 2018, at the age of 93.
Laurine grew up in Doniphan and graduated from Doniphan High School in 1942.

Lela B. Knuth

Lela B. Knuth, age 94, of York, died Sunday, April 22, 2018 at York.
She was born February 19, 1924 southwest of Utica, to Joseph and Bertha (Hennings) Schmidt.  On October 5, 1947 she was married to Clarence A. Knuth at Utica. Together they farmed near Utica till the spring of 1954 when they moved to a farm which was her home till May of 1988. She then moved to York where she was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church. Lela loved to quilt, tend to her garden, crocheting and raised chickens as an active farm wife. Her specialty was making Angel Food cakes for her family. She also enjoyed the York Senior Center, was an avid recycler, sewed her families clothing, canned most of her garden produces and was a hard worker her whole life.

Dorothy Richardson Luff

Dorothy Richardson Luff of Grand Prairie, Texas passed away at Fort Worth, Texas on April 20, 2018 at 2:20 a.m.
Funeral Services were held Monday, April 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church of Grand Prairie.
Interment was held at DFW National Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 25,2018.
Dorothy was born December 20, 1924 in Foss, OK to Nicholas and Nellie Pearl (Gillispie) Richardson.
She was raised in Foss and graduated from Foss High School and later, Clinton Nursing School.
She met and married a handsome military man, Eugene F. Luff, and they traveled the world together. Dottie was proud to call herself a military wife, spending time in several locations in the United States, plus many countries in Europe and the Middle East.

Allen 'Crazy Al' R. Anderson

Allen ‘Crazy Al’ R. Anderson, age 71, of Phillips, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018, at Westfield Quality Care.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 28 at the Phillips Memorial Hall, 501 3rd Street, Phillips.  Monte Yoder will officiate.  Interment will be in the Phillips Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Allen Ray Anderson, the son of A. L. and Lucy Mae (Clopton) Anderson, was born in Ainsworth, on April 11, 1947 and passed away in Aurora, on April 20, 2018, at the age of 71.

Melanie Cranmore

Melanie Katherine Cranmore, 66, of Marquette, peacefully passed away to be with the Lord on April 19, 2018 at CHI Health St Francis in Grand Island.  Memorial Services will be held Monday, April 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Central City with Pastor Jim Garfield officiating.  Burial will be at a later date.

Melanie was born October 2, 1951 to Raymond and Carolyn (Jasnoch) McColloch in Ogallala.  She graduated from Garden County High School in Oshkosh.  Melanie was married December 9, 1969 to Butch Cranmore and was happily married for more than 48 years.  She worked at Hamilton Manor in Aurora for 22 years, retiring in 2011 due to health reasons.

Lewis Driewer

Lewis LaVern Driewer, age 92, of York, formerly of Hampton and Republican City, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018.
Lewis was born on March 29, 1926, and adopted by Ernest and Marcella Driewer of Hampton. Lewis was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and graduated from Hampton High School in 1944.  Lewis was united in marriage to Evelyn Rathje on March 18, 1951. He served in the Unites States Army Signal Corp in Germany from 1951 to 1953. Upon his return, he and Evelyn moved to Hampton where he farmed, fed cattle and sold insurance.

JoAnne Macke

JoAnne Macke of Mullen, died on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at her home in Omaha.  She was born on November 8, 1948, to Bill and Betty (Law) Macke in Alliance, and graduated from Mullen High School in 1967.
Together with Steve Breitenfeldt, JoAnne had five children: Rick Breitenfeldt (Tony), Stephanie Neuhaus (Rob), Mandi Noel (Tony), Jamie Lindburg (Jason), and Adam Breitenfeldt (Jenny); and ten grandchildren: Madeline, Luke, Ian, Olivia, Matthew, Kaelyn, Sydney, Isabella, Hailey, and Wyatt.   She enjoyed baking, golfing, and vacationing with her children.
JoAnne was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Bill and Bob Macke, and her brother-in-law, Larry Bostron. She is survived by her sisters, Jean Macke and Peg Bostron; her brother, Jim Macke (Michelle); numerous nieces and nephews.
Private family graveside services will be held at a later date at Cedarview Cemetery in Mullen, Nebraska.

Collett I. Soper

Collett I. Soper, 90, of Ord formerly of North Loup was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at the Valley View Senior Village in Ord.
Mrs. Soper’s wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018, at the Seventh Day Baptist Church in North Loup. Pastor Scott Hausrath will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Hillside Cemetery at North Loup. Memorials are suggested to Seventh Day Baptist Church Camp Riverview. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Richard Moravec

Richard was born on July 7, 1925, at home near Ulysses, to James and Carrie (Rerucha) Moravec. He married Maryann Svoboda on May 7, 1947, at Assumption Church in Appleton. Richard graduated salutatorian from Ulysses High School in 1942 and then attended the Lincoln School of Business. He was proud to have been a bus boy at the Cornhusker Hotel.
He was part of the “Greatest Generation” who went to war to fight for the freedom of our country by serving in the United States Navy as a signalman. The ammunition ship he was aboard arrived at Iwo Jima two days before the American forces hoisted the American flag on top of the mountain. He was proud to receive a “Quilt of Valor” this past fall. Richard came home from the war, got married, raised a family and worked on the farm the rest of his life. He stayed faithful to his heritage, his Catholic faith and his family.
