Richard F. Toof

Richard F. Toof, 93, of Aurora, passed away September 7, 2018, at Aurora Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m.,  Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 1565 18th Avenue, Columbus.
A vigil will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2018 at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus.  Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2018 at McKown Funeral Home, Columbus. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning from 8:30-10 a.m. at the funeral home
Interment will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Columbus, with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard.
Richard was born September 4, 1925, in Dalton, to Clyde and Anna (Fecht) Toof.
He graduated from University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism.
He was joined in marriage to his sweetheart Beryl Bamberg on October 16, 1950.

Christy Moffett

Christy Moffett, age 60, of Aurora, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora.  Rev. Bob Gannon will officiate.  Christy’s wishes were to be cremated.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Christy Sue Moffett, the daughter of Vern and Marlene (Sass) Reed, was born in Omaha, on March 2, 1958 and passed away in Aurora, on August 27, 2018, at the age of 60.
She grew up in Bennington, and graduated from Bennington High School in 1976.  After her graduation she lived in Colorado where her two children were born, Chad and Charday.
Christy was united in marriage to James Moffett in 1992 at Central City.  After their marriage they lived in Marquette where she worked for Champion in York and the Aurora Mall.

Emerald Herman "Bud" Hansen

Emerald Herman “Bud” Hansen, 92, of Hampton passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora. A memorial service will be held at United Lutheran Church in Hampton on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. There will be no visitation.
Bud was born on June 12, 1926, in York, to John Herman and Olga Marie (Madsen)
Hansen. He was baptized on July 11, 1926, and confirmed on May 12, 1940 at Immanuel Lutheran Church north of Hampton. He graduated from Hampton High School in 1943. He was proud to be a member of the 1942 State Basketball Team.
He served his country in the army from October 3, 1946 and was honorably discharged on June 1, 1947. He was stationed in Japan for a short time. On June 27, 1948, he was united in marriage to Maxine Wolff in Aurora.

Leander A. (Lee) Mendyk

Leander (Lee) A. Mendyk, 85, of Winona, MN, ended his life’s journey on August 20, 2018, at his home in Winona.
Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2018, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, where the Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary was held at 6:30 p.m.  Visitation was also held from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 360 Main Street, Winona.  The Very Reverend Mark C. McNea  officiated.  Following the Mass, the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 of Winona provided military honors outside of the Cathedral.  All were invited to a luncheon which will be held in Holy Family Hall following the military honors.
Additional services will be held next week in Loup City, where Lee will be laid to rest in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Nels Christensen

Nels Christensen, age 87, of Aurora, formerly of Marquette, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, August 31 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg.  Rev. Kristine Schroeder will officiate. Inurnment will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Nels Hans Christensen, the son of Jens and Viola (Lagoni) Christensen, was born on a farm 1 mile west of Marquette, on January 25, 1931 and passed away in Aurora, on August 23, 2018, at the age of 87.

Georgelen "Georgia" Mahon

Georgelen “Georgia” Mahon, age 82, of Aurora, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018, at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 28 at the First Christian Church in Aurora. Rev. Bruce Bradley will officiate. Interment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Georgia Ann Mahon, the daughter of George and Helen (Zimmerman) Bense was born on November 12, 1935 in Falls City, and passed away on August 24, 2018 at the age of 82.
She grew up in Falls City and Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1953.

Cecile Smith

Cecile Smith, age 101, of Aurora, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018, at Memorial Community Care.
A Graveside Service for family and friends will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 25 at the Aurora Cemetery.  Rev. Michelle Reed will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to East Park Villa or Memorial Community Care.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Cecile Marlene Smith, the daughter of Harry and Aurilla (Eastman) Stewart, was born at Sargent, on May 24, 1917, and passed away in Aurora, on August 23, 2018, at the age of 101.
She grew up in Sargent and graduated from Sargent High School.  Following her graduation she lived and worked in Grand Island.

Floyd J. Sauer

Floyd J. Sauer, age 89 years of Lincoln, passed away August 19, 2018.  Floyd was born on June 11, 1929, in Minatare,  to John and Bertha (Marker) Sauer.  
He served in the Wyoming National Guard. In 1948 at the age of 19, he committed his life to Christ and served his Lord faithfully for the rest of his life.  He and Colleen were married in Scottsbluff, in August of 1950.  He graduated from North Central University in Minneapolis where he earned his Bachelor Degree in Theology and was ordained by the Assemblies of God demonination.  Floyd served his first church as a pastor in Beaver Bay, MN, then Silver Bay, MN, Aurora, and as interim pastor at various other locations. He then found his home at Immanuel Church in Lincoln.  In addition to his duties as a minister, he was also administrator and chaplain at Eastmont Towers.  Floyd enjoyed model trains, was a car enthusiast, hunted in his younger days and enjoyed playing his steele guitar.

Camilla George

Camilla George, age 100, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Memorial Community Care.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 18 at the Aurora United Methodist Church.  Rev. Michelle Reed will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Marilynn J. Lynch

Marilynn J. Lynch, of Grand Island passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018.
Marilynn was born to Harve and Cora (Van Horn) Scobie.   She attended Franklin Grade School and graduated from Giltner Public Schools.
Following graduation, she attended and graduated from Lincoln School of Commerce in Lincoln and was employed by Standard Reliance Insurance Company.  Later, she moved to Kokomo, Indiana and worked for Findley Insurance Company.  There, Marilynn met and married James R. Lynch and the couple moved to Grand Island.  She was employed for the Hall County Sheriff’s Office for twelve years.  They had one son Ned, who was killed when his own plane crashed in a storm at Goodland, Kansas.
Jim and Marilynn moved to Titusville, Florida to care for Jim’s mother.  After Jim’s passing, Marilynn moved back to Grand Island.
Marilynn was a member of St Anne’s Catholic Church of Doniphan.
