Jeanette Kriley

Jeanette “Jeanie” E. Kriley, age 78, of Bradshaw, died Saturday, Jan, 12, 2019 at Geneva. She was born Sept. 27, 1940 to Virgil and Mary Jane (Omey) Sorensen at Ravenna.  She graduated from Wood River High School in 1958. Jeanie was a waitress for many years at Country Kitchen. She loved her family and her dogs. On August 23, 1996, Jeanie was united in marriage to Ronald D. Kriley at Aurora. She was the best mother her children could ever ask for.
She is survived by her children: Charles K. (Kim) Chollar of Polk, Karri (Michael) May of Salina, KS, and Jaime (Danny) Robinson of Smyrna, GA; grandchildren: Mandy (Matt) Weber of Grand Island, Justin (Lora) Splain of Lincoln, Samuel Robinson of Smyrna, GA, and Alex Robinson of Smyrna, GA; and great grandchildren Adalyn and Ava.
Jeanie is also survived by her siblings: David (Dorothy) Sorensen of Central City, Clara Moody of Omaha, and Debbie Grant of Polk; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.


Drew D. Wiese

Memorial service for Drew D. Wiese, 61, of Norfolk will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 11, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Norfolk with Pastor Caleb Lind officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., Thursday also at the First Baptist Church.
Drew passed away at his home in Norfolk on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019. Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk is in charge of the arrangements.


Charles Roger Jacobsen

Charles Roger Jacobsen was born to Arthur and Edna (Halverson) Jacobsen on Aug. 7, 1936 at home on the family farm south of McCool Junction, and passed away Jan 9, 2019 at Hearthstone in York. He was one of seven children. On June 9, 1957 he was united in marriage to Joan Teaford at the McCool Junction United Methodist Church.
“Chucker the Trucker” as he was known by many, earned his reputation by dedicated service to his customers. His trucking life started with McAllister Transfer and later Bee Line Motor Freight. His impeccable safety record for forty years and countless testimonials about his service were unparalleled, as was his big wave should he meet someone he knew on the open road. Upon retirement, he delivered fertilizer for McCool Fertilizer, where he made many new acquaintances and lifelong friends.


Lynn Arends

Lynn Arends, 70 of Aurora, died Saturday, Jan. 05, 2019 at the Auroral Memorial Community Care.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9 at All Faiths Funeral Home.  Daniel Naranjo will officiate.  Burial will be in the Phillips Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8 at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Lynn was born Dec. 3, 1948 at Ravenna the daughter of Wayne and Vera (Bunn) Stubbs.  She graduated from Grand Island Senior High School.  On Nov. 25, 1972 she was united in marriage to Lee Arends.  This union was blessed with three children, Mike, Missy and Amanda.
Some of Lynn’s involvements included TOPS for many years, Phillips Volunteer Fire Auxiliary and the Phillips and Aurora Senior Centers.  Lynn enjoyed sewing, quilting, camping with her kids when they were younger and later, spending time with grandkids.


Robert Reichardt

Robert “Bob” E. Reichardt, Sr., 91, of Burleson, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, in Greenwood-Arlington Chapel in Arlington, Texas.  Visitation was from 9 to 10 a.m. Interment was at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at Parkdale Cemetery, Arlington.
Bob was born Sept. 5, 1927, in Aurora.  He had two great loves, his family and farming. Although a quiet and humble man, Bob always felt a sense of pride in his ability to improvise and adapt, never encountering a problem he could not overcome.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Reichardt; his daughter, Dianna Gibson; and his brother, Keith Reichardt.
Bob is survived by his sons, Robert E. Reichardt, Jr. and wife, Mary B, and Paul D. Reichardt and wife, Mary G.; his daughter, Bonnie Esselman; brother, Jim Reichardt; sister, Mary Jane Rawlings; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.”


Sandra L. Sanders

Sandra L. Sanders, age 75 of the town of Bear Creek, Wis., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019 at Aster Assisted Living, Clintonville, Wis.
Sandra Lee Sanders was born March 22, 1943 in Buffalo, NY. She was adopted as an infant and grew up in Nebraska. After graduation from high school, Sandra worked waiting tables at a truck stop diner in Hebron. She met and married Rex Bell and the couple did some traveling together as Rex’s work; building grain bins and other grain elevator equipment; took them all over the country. Sandra later worked as a caregiver at a nursing home in Aurora, and retired in the mid-1980s.


Susan (Steenburg) Engler

Susan Jane (Steenburg) Engler passed away Dec. 30, 2018 in Omaha. Services were held Friday, Jan. 4, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Westside Church, 15050 West Dodge Road in Omaha. Interment was Saturday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. in the Aurora cemetery. Susan was born Jan. 10, 1921.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Willard Engler; brothers, Edmund Arthur Steenburg, M.D., Donald Benjamin Steenburg, Houtz Van Steenburg, M.D.
She is survived by daughters, Christine Beck, Karen Baretich (Dave), Janet Congress (Howard), Sarah Berger (Kevin); 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler, West Center Chapel, 7805 W. Center Road, Omaha,, was in charge of arrangements.


Dale Hoegh

Dale Hoegh, age 93, of Aurora, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, at Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m, Friday, Jan. 4 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg.  Rev. Chris Kester Beyer will officiate. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Dale Eugene Hoegh was born on Dec. 2, 1925 at Aurora to Erhardt Andrew and Agnes Christina (Johnson) Hoegh and passed away in Aurora, on Dec. 31, 2018, at the age of 93.
He attended District 81 Country School through the eighth grade and two years of high school at Aurora.  He spent a short time in the U.S. Army in 1945 and 1946.


Sheila Wallace

Sheila Marie Wallace, 46, of Aurora, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4 at Abundant Life Christian Center in Grand Island. Pastor Gene Arnold will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island.
Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Sheila was born on May 14, 1972, at Kearney, the daughter of Dennis L. and Brigitte H. (Hedler) Wallace. She grew up in Kearney where she attended Kearney Public Schools and graduated from Kearney High School.
In 2001, she moved to Aurora, where she lived the rest of her life.
She was a member of Abundant Life Christian Center in Grand Island and competed in swimming, bowling and track in the Special Olympics for a number of years.


Barbara Ostrander

Barbara Ostrander, age 78, of Aurora, passed away on Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 31, 2018 at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora.  Interment will be in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday. Barbara Adline Ostrander, the daughter of Henry Lee and Jennie Lucille (Burnworth) DeLong Sr., was born in Omaha, on March 13, 1940 and passed away in Lincoln, on Dec. 28, 2018, at the age of 78.
Barbara grew up in Omaha and received her education there.  She moved to the Aurora area in 1975, and worked for Lippincott Ind., the Hamilton Manor, Memorial Community Care and Memorial Hospital.
