Dorothy Bergmark

Dorothy Bergmark, age 86, of Aurora, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6 at Higby-McQuiston Chapel. Pastor Jerry Breese will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Aurora Cemetery at a later date. The family requests casual dress for the services. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. In lieu of flower, memorials may be made to the family. Dorothy I. Bergmark, the daughter of Ernest Leo and Jewel Mildred (Grizzle) Stumbo, was born at Humboldt, Kans. on October 11, 1931 and passed away in Aurora, on Dec. 3, 2017, at the age of 86.

Esther M. Rempel (Friesen) Wall

Esther Marie Rempel (Friesen) Wall went to her heavenly home on Wednesday Nov. 29, 2017.
Esther was born October 4, 1927 to George T. and Olga (Regier) Rempel at Henderson.
She attended country school at District 80 in York County. She and her sister Elizabeth sang at some  weddings and different gatherings with their mother Olga playing the piano for them. She also worked as a maid on various farms.
Upon confession of her faith Esther was baptized and joined the Bethesda Mennonite Church. On May 30, 1947 she married Milton Friesen. The marriage was cut short on May 30, 1949 when he was pinned under their car as he was working on it. He was the son of Thomas H. Friesen. They were married exactly 2 years. She then moved back with her parents, and when the Henderson Hospital was built in 1950 she was asked to help work for Dr. Hamilton helping with many tasks.

Wilbur L. Holloway

Memorial Services for Wilbur L. Holloway will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Alma, with Pastor Sarah Shanks and Mr. Gary Janssen officiating.  Internment will take place at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, at a later date.
Wilbur Lee Holloway, 71, of Alma, died on Monday, Nov. 27, 2017 at the Harlan County Health System in Alma.  Wilbur was born Nov. 5, 1946 in Aurora, the fourth of five children born to Roy and Valeta (Marvel) Holloway.  He graduated from Aurora High School in 1965 and then pursued higher education at a Technical College in Omaha, majoring in Auto Mechanics.

Wilma J. Debban

Former Hastings resident, Wilma J. Debban, 86, passed away Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, at Mount Carmel Nursing Home, Kearney.     
Services will be Monday, Dec. 4, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Marcus J. Mackay officiating.  Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hastings.  Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017 from 1-7 p.m. with family present from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.  Private condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com.  Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.

Lieselotte (Lilo) Gereda Heumann

(Lilo) Lieselotte Gerda Heumann, 97 of Grand Island died Friday, Nov. 17, 2017 at Wedgewood Care Center.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronberg.  Reverend Kristine Schroeder will officiate.  Burial of ashes will be in the Kronberg Cemetery.
All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Lilo was born October 2, 1920 at Rethausen, Germany the daughter of Wilhelm and Margarete (Engel) Koehn.

Mary E. Land

Mary E. Land, 65, of Trumbull, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family, friends, and animal friends.  Graveside services were, Friday, Nov. 9, at Case Cemetery, in Trumbull.  Dr. Lee Wiegert officiated.  Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Mary was born Feb.  12, 1952, in Central City.  She was the son of Marvel and Betty (Grigsby) Land.
Survivors of her immediate family include her husband Charley Moore of Trumbull, uncle Bill Grigsby of Aurora, and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Dawn Lynn Janzen-Martens

Dawn Lynn Janzen-Martens, 47, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.  Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. at Stockham Community Church in Stockham with Pastor Paul Nauman officiating.  There will be no visitation.  Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery.  Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City and Polk is assisting the family.

Dawn was born on July 23, 1970 to John and Pam (Young) Janzen in Aurora.  She attended Aurora Public School and Hampton High School, graduating in 1988.   She enjoyed a variety of sports, including cheerleading, track and volleyball.  She loved hanging out with her friends. She had a lot of teens who called her “Mom”.

Tammy M. Fleming

Tammy M. Fleming, 55, of Polk, died on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 at Merrick Medical Center in Central City.  Funeral services will be on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clarks with Father David Fulton officiating.  Visitation will be on Monday, Nov. 13 from 5-7 p.m. with 7 p.m. vigil service at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clarks.  Interment will be at Arborville Cemetery, near Polk.

Carmen M. Chandler

Carmen Mae Chandler was born Sept. 1, 1949 in Aurora, to Arnold and Naomi Adams. She died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 at the Gretna Community Care Center, Gretna, at the age of 68 years, 2 months, and 10 days.
Carmen worked as a Certified Public Accountant for Valley Ice for nearly 30 years, and Village Clerk at Cedar Creek.
Carmen was instrumental in beginning Hope’s Closet in Louisville. She was always learning and playing game shows where she would answer before the contestants. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Louisville.
Carmen is survived by her daughters Corrine Chandler and Janet Holm, grandchildren Morgan, TJ, Laci, Brynlee, and Addilyn Holm, sisters Kathy McConnell, Lori Hofmann, Bonnie Henzel, Regina Mick, Sandy Pokorny, and a brother Thomas Mick, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents Arnold and Naomi Mick, sisters Marilyn Wolff and Sharon Wrightson.

Ricky "Rick" Braun

Rick Lynn Braun, nicknamed “Brownie” was born Sept. 4,1963 in Henderson, to Irvin and Doris Braun. He went home to His Heavenly Father on November 5, 2017 (All Saints Sunday) surrounded by his loving wife, Cindy, and kids; Morgan and Landon.  Rick passed away following a courageous battle with MS.
Family visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. at Southlake Village Rehabilitation & Care Center on Thursday, Nov. 16.
Memorial Service for Rick will be at Southwood Lutheran Church on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 9:30 a.m. (Southwood Lutheran, 4301 Wilderness Blvd., Lincoln).
Rick was raised on a farm just outside of Hampton, where he graduated from Hampton High School, class of 1981. In high school, he acquired the nickname “Whoosh” for his basketball shot. He attended Southeast Community College-Milford and graduated in 1989 shortly after he was united in marriage to Cindy Rathje on May, 27.
