Marilynn J. Lynch

Marilynn J. Lynch, of Grand Island passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018.
Marilynn was born to Harve and Cora (Van Horn) Scobie.   She attended Franklin Grade School and graduated from Giltner Public Schools.
Following graduation, she attended and graduated from Lincoln School of Commerce in Lincoln and was employed by Standard Reliance Insurance Company.  Later, she moved to Kokomo, Indiana and worked for Findley Insurance Company.  There, Marilynn met and married James R. Lynch and the couple moved to Grand Island.  She was employed for the Hall County Sheriff’s Office for twelve years.  They had one son Ned, who was killed when his own plane crashed in a storm at Goodland, Kansas.
Jim and Marilynn moved to Titusville, Florida to care for Jim’s mother.  After Jim’s passing, Marilynn moved back to Grand Island.
Marilynn was a member of St Anne’s Catholic Church of Doniphan.

Jerry L. Kingsley

Jerry L. Kingsley, 86 of Aurora, died Wednesday August 8, 2018 at Westfield Quality Care Center, Aurora.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Pleasant View Bible Church, Aurora, with the Rev. Bob Gannon officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Pleasant View Bible Church.

Jerry was born on May 23, 1932 in Denman, the son of Harvey and Mary (Morgan) Kingsley. He grew up in Denman and attended schools in Denman and Shelton. He owned his own business working as a building contractor and master electrician for 30 years before retiring.

Roberta Jean (Bahn) Maxim

Roberta Jean (Bahn) Maxim was born on Aug. 9, 1941 in Aurora, to Rolland and Lelia (Gorman) Bahn and passed away July 4, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
She graduated from Lebanon High School, Lebanon, Kans. in 1959. She attended Hastings College for two years before moving to California where she married John Maxim. To this union two children were born, Rebecca and David. She continued to live and work in San Jose, California before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada with her son in 2002.
 Roberta was an avid sports fan, especially football. She was a huge fan of the Oakland Raiders.
 She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, Rolland Bahn and Lelia Mierau, her step-father, Herman Mierau; sisters, Mary Jane Bahn, Ethel Weston, Helen Brewer, Shirley Burnside, Ruth Harris and her brother James Bahn. Roberta passed away July 4 and opened her arms wide to her only granddaughter, Ashley Maxim, who passed away July 8.

Donald Liebhart

Donald Liebhart, age 90, of Aurora, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018, at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 7 at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Pastor Jim Garfield will officiate. Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery. Donald Roy Liebhart, the son of Willie and May (Mann) Liebhart, was born in Aurora, on October 23, 1927 and passed away in Aurora, on August 3, 2018, at the age of 90.
He grew up in Aurora and attended Aurora Public Schools thru the 11th grade.  Don served his country in the U.S. Army from February 1946 until his discharge in September of 1947.

Jesse Claude Rust Jr.

Jesse Claude Rust Jr., age 91, of York, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at York. He was born January 27, 1927 in rural York County to Jesse Claude Rust Sr. and Esther Leticia (Hiatt) Rust. He attended country school in York County and graduated from York High School in 1944.  He farmed in the early part of his life, and later worked for the York Public Schools until his retirement. Jesse enjoyed target shooting and was a firearms enthusiast.
On March 10, 1949 he was married to Betty Morris. To this union six children were born.
Survivors include his daughters Teresa (Lyle) Jensen of Aurora, Nancy (Dale) Wilson of Lincoln, Lou Ann Gewecke of Grand Island, Patricia (D.C.) Simpson of Alvin, TX, Jane Rust of Grand Island, and son Roger (Geraldine) Rust of Polk, several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Dale, sisters Alice, Dorothy, Lois, Mary and Delma, and grandson Todd.

Glova Osborne

Glova Osborne, age 85, of Beatrice, formerly of Phillips, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Society in Beatrice.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m, Saturday, July 28 at the Phillips United Methodist Church.  Rev. Greg Reed will officiate. Interment will be in the Phillips Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora.   Memorials may be made in care of the family to designate at a later date.   Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Glova Gay Osborne, the daughter of Glen E. and Bertha E. (Wadkins) Billings, was born in Phillips, on November 21, 1932 and passed away in Beatrice, on July 24, 2018, at the age of 85.
She grew up in Phillips and graduated from Phillips High School Class of 1950 and then attended Grand Island School of Business.

Zachary Miller

On Friday, July 20, 2018, Zachary Miller, beloved son of Ray and Sheila Miller and treasured brother to Ashley, Karrah and Rachel, took his first breath in heaven.  He courageously fought a long, hard 5 1/2 year battle with cancer.  He was 33 years old and resided in Seattle, WA, until it became necessary for him to move back to Aurora with his parents.
Zach was born, June 9, 1985, in Minneapolis, MN, and at one year-old moved to Aurora with his parents and grew up on the family farm.  He was quick to learn how to drive any piece of equipment and loved helping his dad and grandpa on the farm.  Zach had an insatiable love to learn.  As a young boy, his bright eyes were always asking questions and his love of learning continued his whole life.  He attended Aurora Schools through 4th grade and then was homeschooled through high school.  He attended University of Nebraska in the JD Edwards program for computer engineering.

Naomi Ione Andrews

On July 18, 2018, Naomi Ione Andrews passed away at home with her husband of 67 years at her side. Per Naomi’s wishes, her body was donated for research and will be cremated at the completion of study. Services will be held at a later date.
Naomi Umbenhower was born in Giltner, to Lester and Grace (Lansden) Umbenhower.  As a child, Naomi wasn’t afraid of anything and was always up to a challenge even when it was a dare to ride her little red wagon down the roof of the barn. Fortunately, her mom intervened and Naomi lived to see another day.  
Naomi attended school in Phillips, where she and her brother Bob Umbenhower became great friends with another brother and sister, Thelma and Bob Andrews. These friendships resulted in two marriages: Thelma Andrews to Bob Umbenhower and on October 29, 1950 Naomi Umbenhower married Bob Andrews.
Naomi and Bob were blessed with 4 children and these kids were her treasures.  She was 100% supportive of them. Always.

Lucille Splinter

Lucille Splinter, the daughter of Wilbur J. and Hazel A. (Freeman) Miller, was born at the family farm at Precinct D Seward County, Neb. on Dec. 31, 1921, and passed away at Henderson, Neb., on July 18, 2018, at the age of 96.
She attended school Precinct D in Seward County until the family moved to York County when she was 8. Lucille graduated from McCool Junction High School in 1938, where she was salutatorian of her class. She went on to attend Grand Island Business School, where she received a scholarship. Her first job was at the York office for the Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph Business Office.

Daniel L. Jones

Daniel L. Jones, age 79, of Aurora, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Memorial Community Care.
A Graveside Service will be held at at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 20 at the Aurora Cemetery, with full military honors. Rev. Jim Garfield will officiate. Per Mr. Jones’ request cremation has taken place.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Daniel Lee Jones, the son of Willard and Mary Louise (Thompson) Jones, was born at Youngstown, Ohio on June 15, 1939 and passed away at Aurora, on July 7, 2018, at the age of 79.
Daniel was baptized on March 24, 1940 in Palmyra, Ohio.  He attended elementary school in Ontario, California and attended Chaffey Union High School also in Ontario thru the 11th grade.  Daniel joined the U.S. Navy on June 18, 1956 and was honorably discharged on July 12, 1960.
