Donald Mickey

Donald Mickey, age 81, of Aurora, formerly of Osceola, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 9 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora.  Rev. Loras Grell will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Tabitha Hospice, the Aurora Volunteer Fire Dept. or the Osceola Volunteer Fire Dept.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Donald Wayne Mickey, the son of John and Ethel (Waite) Mickey, was born in Osceola, on Aug. 8, 1937 and passed away in Aurora, on Feb. 6, 2019, at the age of 81.
Don grew up on a farm near Osceola.  He attended school in Osceola and graduated from Osceola High School.

Sandra Smith

Sandra Jean Smith was born on May 20, 1949 in Aurora to Morris and Dorothy Smith. She was the 2nd of 3 children. She graduated from Aurora High School in 1967. She graduated from Weaver Airline School and moved to Peoria, Illinois where she worked for Ozark Airlines. Throughout her life she lived in various places before settling in Phoenix, AZ where she was living at the time of her death.
Sandra passed away suddenly, unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 19, 2019 while on vacation in Hawaii.  
She is survived by two sons, Christopher (Erika) and Bradley Gardiner, grandsons, Robert, Joseph and Timothy, granddaughter Elena, brother Randy (Marie) Smith, nieces Melanie (Mike) Friend and Vicki (Justus) Taylor, partner Gary, and her dog Teddy.
A memorial service was held Feb. 2, 2019 at Open Door Fellowship in Phoenix, AZ.

Virginia (Granstrom) Morgan

Virginia (Granstrom) Morgan, 91, of Aurora, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019 in Aurora.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 2 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Greg Reed will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the the family’s choice, which will be: Prader-Willi Syndrome Research Association.   Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Virginia Emma Granstrom Morgan, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Petersen) Granstrom, was born on the family farm near Minden, on Feb. 20, 1927, and passed away at Aurora, on Jan. 30, 2019, at the age of 91.

Alice (Colvert) Masilko

Alice Maude (Colvert) Masilko of Aurora, formerly of Lincoln, died at Memorial Community Care on Jan. 24, 2019 at the young age of 102. She was born Aug. 28, 1916 to George David and Daisy (Garrison) Colvert. Alice was the second of six children born into this family. She attended country school, and later graduated from Beaver Crossing High School.
On March 31, 1951 Alice was united in marriage to Ed Masilko. Ed was a bakery supply salesman. Ed and Alice owned a jam/jelly business in Omaha and Highway Laundromat on Cornhusker Hwy. After Ed’s passing, Alice began cleaning homes while caring for her sister Jare.
At age 98 she gave up cleaning and moved to Aurora. She lived with Larry and Jolene Fox until she broke a hip. After a long recovery Alice moved into East Park Villa where she resided until August when she got pneumonia. She spent time in the hospital recovering, later moving to Memorial Community Care until her passing.

Stuart T. Weber

Stuart T. Weber, 79, of Beatrice died at his home on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019.  He was born Feb. 8, 1939 at Aurora and graduated from Hampton High School in 1956.  He attended Milford Tech School for welding.  
He married Carole R. Snodgrass on Feb. 13, 1960 at Seward and they moved to Beatrice in 1965.  He worked many years at the Hoag Plant west of Beatrice.  He was member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice, the American Welding Society and Antique Radio Club.  He enjoyed antique radios, his family, flea markets, auctions, gardening, camping and garage sales.

Merwyn Davidson

Merwyn Davidson, age 85, of Aurora, passed away on Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, at Lincoln.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 26 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Revs. Greg Reed, Michelle Reed and Lonnie Ott will officiate. Inurnment will be prior to the church service at 10 a.m. at the Aurora Cemetery.  No Visitation.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Love Justice International for the support of Kevin and Sally Bolis missionary work.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.

Dan Wolfe

Dan Rae Wolfe, 65, of Polk, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019 at Merrick Medical Center in Central City.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island with Pastor Luke Biggs officiating.  Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 21, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church.

Joan C. Kissel

Joan C. Kissel, age 85, of Aurora, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019, at Aurora.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 21 at the First Christian Church in Aurora. Rev. Bruce Bradley will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Joan Charlela Arnett Kissel was born May 28, 1933 in Hamilton County in Aurora at her grandparent’s farm.  She was the first of four children born to Orville K. and Katherine Irene (Springer) Arnett.  Joan Charlela was named after her grandparents, Joe and Anna (Springer) Rediger and Charles and Lela (Dixon) Arnett.

Ruth Anne Leymaster

Ruth Anne Leymaster, 92, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019 at the Western Home Communities Nation Cottage in Cedar Falls.
She was born June 4, 1926 in Stockham, daughter of Austin and Annie (Hartnell) Medaris.  She married Homer N. Leymaster on June 11, 1947 in Aurora.
Ruth attended country grade school, Aurora High School, and the University of Nebraska, graduating with a B.S. in Food and Nutrition.  After raising her family, she worked as a Realtor at the Peterson Agency in Cedar Falls for thirteen years, retiring in 1984.  She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter R and First United Methodist Church, both in Cedar Falls.

Kristen Michelle Kuhn

Kristen Michelle Kuhn, 22, of Gretna, passed away surrounded by family on Nov. 2, 2018. Born in Omaha on July 11, 1996, Kristen graduated from Gretna High School in 2014. She was a Regents Scholar and a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority while attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Kristen is survived by her parents Dr. Brett and Tami Kuhn, sisters Kelsi and Karlie of Gretna; grandparents Bob and Gwynne Kuhn of Sun City West, AZ; Cindy Bunger of Minden; aunts and uncles Jim and Moura Kuhn of Southlake, TX, Kyle Kuhn of Roanoke, TX, Jeff and Sue Bunger of Holdrege and Colby and Jennifer Hood of Hickman.
