Dennis D. Weeks

Dennis D. Weeks, 77, of Omaha, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018 at his home.  Celebration of Life Services will be held  Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. at West Center Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.  
Local memorial graveside services will be held Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Hordville Cemetery in Hordville.  Luncheon will follow at the Hordville Events Center.
He was born on July 31, 1941.
He was preceded in death by: father, Cy; grandmother, Ida Bush and uncle, Andrew Bush.
 He is survived by: wife, Dorothy; sons, Bryan (Sharon), Douglas (Leah), Bradley (Heidi); eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; mother, Emma Crawford; sister, Marilin Crawford; brothers, Marvin Crawford (Becky), John Crawford (Julie); nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rev. Stanley R. Schrag

Rev. Stanley R. Schrag, 77, of Lincoln, passed away on Sept. 15, 2018. He was born on March 10, 1941 to Elmer P. and Avena Dean (Thompson) Schrag in Neodesha, KS. Retired minister who most recently served at Grace Community Evangelical Church in Lincoln.
He is survived by his wife, Carlene; daughters, Elizabeth (Nathan) Hancock, Wayne, IL and Sandra (Mark) Busching, Arlington, VA; son, Timothy John Schrag, Lincoln; grandchildren, Ellen Hancock, Ann Hancock, Andrew Hancock, William Busching, and Robert Busching; and nieces and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Larry Schrag.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at Grace Community Evangelical Church, 6843 South St., Lincoln.
The family will greet friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday at Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive (40th and Yankee Hill Rd.), Lincoln.

James 'Jim' Sample

James ‘Jim’ Sample, age 71, of Aurora, passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, at CHI-St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 19 at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.  Memorials may be made in care of the family to be designated at a later date. James Martin Sample, the son of Clifford and Julia (Vincent) Sample, was born in Ord,  on Aug. 23, 1947 and passed away at Grand Island, on Sept. 14, 2018, at the age of 71.

Patricia "Patty" Omel

Patricia ‘Patty’ Omel, age 71, of Grand Island, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Tiffany Square in Grand Island.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 13 at the Evangelical Free Church, 2609 South Blaine, Grand Island.  Rev. Dan Brenton will officiate. Gary Jensen

Gary Jensen, age 82, of Aurora, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018, at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 11 at the Aurora United Methodist Church.  Rev. Greg Reed will officiate. Gary Lee Jensen, the son of Edward and Naomi (Jeffers) Jensen, was born in Sutton, on August 30, 1936 and passed away at home in Aurora with his family by his side on September 7, 2018, at the age of 82.

Naomi Ione Andrews

On July 18, 2018, Naomi Ione Andrews passed away at home with her husband of 67 years at her side. Per Naomi’s wishes, her body was donated for research and was cremated at the completion of study. A Celebration of Life Open House will be held at the home of Gary and Laurie Andrews (125 Driftwood Drive, Aurora) on September 15, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. with a balloon release at 3 p.m.
Naomi Umbenhower was born in Giltner, on June 20, 1929 to Lester and Grace (Lansden) Umbenhower.  Naomi attended school in Phillips, where she met her husband, Bob.  On October 29, 1950 Naomi and Bob were joined in marriage. Naomi and Bob were blessed with 4 children.
Naomi is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Grace Umbenhower, brothers Bob and Delmer Umbenhower and granddaughter Kaysie Layne Andrews.

Richard F. Toof

Richard F. Toof, 93, of Aurora, passed away September 7, 2018, at Aurora Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m.,  Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 1565 18th Avenue, Columbus.
A vigil will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2018 at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus.  Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2018 at McKown Funeral Home, Columbus. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning from 8:30-10 a.m. at the funeral home
Interment will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Columbus, with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard.
Richard was born September 4, 1925, in Dalton, to Clyde and Anna (Fecht) Toof.
He graduated from University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism.
He was joined in marriage to his sweetheart Beryl Bamberg on October 16, 1950.

Christy Moffett

Christy Moffett, age 60, of Aurora, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora.  Rev. Bob Gannon will officiate.  Christy’s wishes were to be cremated.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Christy Sue Moffett, the daughter of Vern and Marlene (Sass) Reed, was born in Omaha, on March 2, 1958 and passed away in Aurora, on August 27, 2018, at the age of 60.
She grew up in Bennington, and graduated from Bennington High School in 1976.  After her graduation she lived in Colorado where her two children were born, Chad and Charday.
Christy was united in marriage to James Moffett in 1992 at Central City.  After their marriage they lived in Marquette where she worked for Champion in York and the Aurora Mall.

Emerald Herman "Bud" Hansen

Emerald Herman “Bud” Hansen, 92, of Hampton passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora. A memorial service will be held at United Lutheran Church in Hampton on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. There will be no visitation.
Bud was born on June 12, 1926, in York, to John Herman and Olga Marie (Madsen)
Hansen. He was baptized on July 11, 1926, and confirmed on May 12, 1940 at Immanuel Lutheran Church north of Hampton. He graduated from Hampton High School in 1943. He was proud to be a member of the 1942 State Basketball Team.
He served his country in the army from October 3, 1946 and was honorably discharged on June 1, 1947. He was stationed in Japan for a short time. On June 27, 1948, he was united in marriage to Maxine Wolff in Aurora.
