Bertina Anderson

Bertina Anderson, age 83, was ushered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Jan. 31, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln after a short illness.
A celebration of life service will take place on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at 11 a.m., at the Monroe Evangelical Free Church in rural Hamilton County. The family will greet guests following the service and at the fellowship lunch.
Bertina Ruth Beins, was born Jan. 28, 1935, in Aurora to Harold and Amy (Lockhart) Beins.
Bertina was raised on a farm, attended country school and then graduated from Phillips High School in 1952. Bertina was known, during her growing up years, for her baton twirling, her hard work on the farm, and raising prize 4-H calves.  Bertina then continued her education at Clarkson Hospital School of Nursing in Omaha, where she became a registered nurse.

Nicolas Pachta

Nicolas Pachta, age 17, of Aurora, passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, due to injuries received from a car accident.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Rev. Loras Grell and Very Rev. Rudy Oborny will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rosary at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1420 9th Street, Aurora. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date. Nicolas Daniel Pachta, the son of Daniel and Jaime (Nicolas) Pachta, was born in Aurora on June 6, 2000 and passed away in Aurora on Feb. 2, 2018, at the age of 17.

Doris Plummer

Doris M. Gustafson Plummer, 91, of Central City, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2018 in Wahoo. Memorial services will be Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Central City with Pastor Tom Lucas officiating. There will be no visitation and burial will be at a later date.

Doris was born Feb. 14, 1926 in Hordville to Carl and Stena (Djernes) Hansen. Doris spent her entire life in Hamilton County until June 1991 when she moved to Central City in Merrick County. She graduated from Marquette High School in 1943 and after attending Normal Training in Central City, taught in rural schools for four years.

Myrtle Buller

Myrtle Buller, age 93, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 2 at the Evangelical Covenant Church. Rev. Karl Larson will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date. Myrtle Marie Buller, the daughter of Frank and Jennie (Ortegren) Anderson, was born at Marquette, on September 29, 1924, and passed away at Aurora, on January 28, 2018, at the age of 93.
Myrtle’s childhood was spent on a farm near Marquette.  She attended school at District 89 and graduated from Marquette High School in 1942.

Buddy Tuttle

Buddy Tuttle, age 95, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 31 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Rev. Ron Harris will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church. Buddy ‘Bud’ Lyle Tuttle, the son of Arthur and Elna (Flint) Tuttle, was born in Cushing, on March 10, 1922, and passed away at Aurora, on January 27, 2018, at the age of 95.
Bud graduated from Marquette High School in 1939.  He served in U.S. Army during World War II.  He was stationed in the South Pacific for 38 months and was awarded the Purple Heart.  Bud was honorably discharged on November 30, 1945.

Agnes Kliewer

Agnes Kliewer, age 100, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Memorial Community Care.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 29 at the Stockham Community Church in Stockham. Rev. Paul Nauman will officiate. Interment will be in the Friesen Cemetery west of Henderson at 10 a.m.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Agnes Koop Kliewer was born on October 13, 1917, along with a twin brother Chris to Cornelius H and Katherina (Peters) Koop in York County.  She died at Memorial Community Care, Aurora, on January 24, 2018 at the age of 100.

Mary Alice (Burns) Spray, age 91, of Aurora, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Memorial Community Care.

James L. Condon

James L. Condon, age 70 years, passed away January 14, 2018 in Republican City. Jim was born on July 6, 1947, in Aurora, to John and Hazel (Olsen) Condon. He graduated from Aurora High School Class of 65 and University of Nebraska with a Degree in Chemical Engineering.  Every year he enjoyed marching with the UNL alumni band.   In 1970, after graduating from UNL, Jim and Shirley Moller were married and they spent 47 years together.
Jim served as a military intelligence officer in the United States Army, four years on active duty, and ultimately retired after 30 years as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Reserves and National Guard.  In recent years he was actively involved with ROTC and the Pershing Rifle alumni to encourage increased student participation in these important programs.

Evon C. Griess

Sutton resident, Evon C. Griess, 89, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Fairview Manor in Fairmont.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Sutton with Rev. Joe Vusich officiating.  Interment will follow at the Sutton Cemetery with military honors by the Sutton American Legion Post #61.  Visitation will be Friday, from 1-8 p.m., with the family present from 5-7 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton.

Marjorie "Marji" Beach

Marjorie “Marji” Beach, 75, of Oak Island, NC, passed away on December 5, 2017, after a long battle with COPD.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. in Aurora, on January 27, 2018.  The service will be held at the Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association to help fund research to find a cure for COPD.  A reception to honor Marji’s life will be held at the Bremer Center in Aurora following the service.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
