Geraldine Sader

Geraldine Sader, age 81, of Aurora, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017, at the CHI Health-St. Francis in Grand Island.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Sunday, July 2 at the Aurora Cemetery.   No visitation.  Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Geraldine Lee Sader, the daughter of George and Evelyn Verneece (Cole) Sader, was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on Sept. 7, 1935 and passed away at Grand Island, Nebraska on June 30, 2017 at the age of 81.

Jessie 'Gram' Bruhn

Jessie “Gram” Bruhn, 85, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, July 3, 2017, at her home in Lexington.
 She was born October 10, 1931, in New York City, New York, to Fred and Katie (Williamson) Williams.  She moved to Grand Island, Nebraska where she attended school and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1950. That same year she met the love of her life when he asked her to dance to “The Blue Skirt Waltz”, and on June 30, 1950, she was united in marriage with Kenneth Bruhn in the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island.
 They had two daughters and moved extensively throughout their marriage, following Kenneth’s work constructing the Titan and Minuteman missile system in Wyoming, Colorado, North and South Dakota, and Nebraska. In 1969 the family settled in Aurora NE. Jessie was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Yarn Spinner group crocheting prayer shawls for those needing comfort and healing.

Diane M. Morgan

Diane M. Morgan, 72, of Dannebrog, died on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.  Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Kronborg Lutheran Church near Marquette with Pastor Kristine Schroeder officiating.  Visitation will be on Thursday, July 6th from 9-11 a.m. at the church.  Burial will be at the St. John’s Kronborg Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Rita Richter

Rita Richter, age 63, of Aurora, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at the Hamilton Manor.

Rita Annette Richter, the daughter of Russ and Phyllis (Cundall) Hultine, was born in Clay County, on February 28, 1954 and passed away at Aurora, on June 29, 2017 at the age of 63.
Rita was baptized and confirmed in the Saron Lutheran Church in Saronville.  Rita graduated from Clay Center High School in 1972.

Carl J. Wall

Carl J. Wall, age 102, of Aurora, formerly of Hampton, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017, at the Memorial Community Care.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 29 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton.  Rev. Paul Kern will officiate. Carl John Wall, the son of Christian and Katherine (Bamesberger) Wall, was born in Hampton, on May 20, 1915 and passed away at Aurora, on June 26, 2017 at the age of 102.

Betty A. Fruits

Betty A. Fruits passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017, at her home in Hamilton Manor in Aurora.  Mrs. Fruits will be cremated and there will be no services.
Mrs. Fruits was born Betty Arlene Fowler to Sylvester and Elva Fowler on August 31, 1924 in Kansas City, MO. The family moved to Lincoln in 1926.  Mrs. Fruits attended Clinton and Elliot Elementary Schools and graduated From Whittier Junior High Schools in 1939 and from Lincoln High School in 1942.  After graduation, Mrs. Fruits worked at Western Electric in Lincoln and Woodmen Accident as assistant to the head of the accounting department.

Eunice Nachtigall

Eunice Nachtigall, age 82, of Aurora, went to her heavenly home to be in the arms of Jesus on Sunday, June 18, 2017, at the Brookefield Park in St. Paul.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 23 at the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora.  Pastor Bob Gannon will officiate.  Family burial will take place prior to the service at the Aurora Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.  Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Eunice Mae Nachtigall, the daughter of Albert F. and Anna (Penner) Bartel, was born in Hillsboro, Kansas on October 23, 1934 and passed away in St. Paul, on June 18, 2017, at the age of 82.

Jeffery B. Goertzen

Jeffery B. Goertzen, 48, of Sweet Home, Ore. passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017. He was born in Grand Island to Frances Goertzen-Wilson. He went to grade school in Hampton then moved to Oregon in 1979 and finished his education.
He married Jennifer Bomberger and had two daughters, Katherine Lucille and JoVanna Louise. They divorced. Later Jeffery married Terry Blaylock on July 5, 2008.
Jeffery had many jobs such as: construction, cook, forklift driver and small engine mechanic. He loved music and playing his drums. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age and was baptized. He had been attending Sweet Home Christian Church.

Nelda Akerson

Nelda Akerson, age 85, of Aurora, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Tiffany Square in Grand Island.
Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 10 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora.  Rev. Karla Sheffy officiated. Interment was in the Aurora Cemetery.  Closed casket visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church.   Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date. Nelda May Akerson, the daughter of George Ralph and Edna (Hamburger) Read, was born near Inland in Clay County, on November 14, 1931 and passed away on June 6, 2017 at Grand Island, at the age of 85.

Chester F. Scott

Chester F. Scott, 96, Elm Creek, died Monday, June 12, 2017 at Mt.
