Shirley Lou Hansen

Shirley Lou Hansen passed away on February 10, 2018. She was born to Hans and Helen Jensen on April 11, 1927 on the family farm near Aurora. Shirley grew up on the farm and loved riding her horse to and from school. She graduated from Aurora High School in 1945.
After high school, she attended the University of Nebraska Business School and graduated in 1948, with a degree in accounting.

LeRoy Kleve

LeRoy Kleve, 86, of Central City, died Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at his home.  Funeral services will be Monday, March 26, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home with Rev. Doug McHargue officiating.  Visitation will be Sunday, March 25, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

LeRoy was born on May 28, 1931 to Lawrence and Agatha (Schuele) Kleve in Cedar Rapids.  LeRoy attended school in Cedar Rapids through the early years until he moved to the Central City area where he attended there.
LeRoy married Jeanette Johnson on June 2, 1957 in Central City at the Presbyterian Church.  They were blessed with sixty wonderful years together.

Dale A. Carlson

Dale A. Carlson, 72, of Central City, Nebraska died Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Merrick Medical Center in Central City.  Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 4 p.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City with Pastor Beth Ann Stone officiating.  A reception will follow the Memorial Service at Solt-Wagner Community Room.

Jerald (Jerry) Wayne Crain Sr.

Jerald (Jerry) Wayne Crain Sr. was born in Iowa on July 31, 1955 and passed away in Lincoln on March 18, 2018.
He is survived by his fiance Teresa (Terri) J. Scherff of Aurora, two brothers, LD (Patty) Crain and Otis (Kim) Crain, half brother Leon Crain, two daughters April (Kurt) Duff and Holly (Akil) Clark; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Orville and Iola Crain, son Jerald Wayne Crain Jr. and two grandchildren.
By his request he is going to be cremated and taken back to Iowa to be with his parents, son and grandchildren in Nopeville, Iowa.
He served in the Army both in the states and Germany. He was proud to be called a veteran and was able to serve our country. He also enjoyed the outdoors in any type of weather.

Paul Mikkelsen

Paul Mikkelsen, age 75, of Aurora, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora.

Paul Michael Mikkelsen, the son of John and Ruth (Ahlstrom) Mikkelsen, was born at Hastings, on May 19, 1942, and passed away at Aurora, on March 18, 2018, at the age of 75.
Paul’s father was a Methodist minister so Paul spent his childhood in many towns across Nebraska, both large and small. He graduated from Gordon High School.  Paul met his future wife while working at the Sinclair Gas Station in Aurora.

Jerolyn Ross Oswald Phillips

Jerolyn Ross Oswald Phillips, 81, of Milton-Freewater, Oregon died March 7, 2017, surrounded by her husband and family. She was born on April 28, 1936 to Jona and Mildred (McVey) Ross in Stockham. Two years later, her brother, Gary, was born. During WWII the family moved to San Francisco, California, where Jona served in the military. Jerolyn shared many fond memories of this time in her life. A birth of a second daughter, Linda, completed their family. The family finally settled in Aurora. Jerolyn met Richard Oswald in Aurora. They were married on November 11, 1953 and moved to Rich’s family farm. Two daughters, Peggy Lynn and Laurel Kay, and a son, Robert Alan came along during the first three years of their marriage. Ten years later, the family moved to Utah, first to Kaysville for a year, then to Bountiful. Jerolyn loved the beauty of the mountains in Utah, and hiking in them was a favorite pastime.

Marlin Coles

Marlin Coles, age 68, of Marquette, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Bryan/LGH East Medical Center in Lincoln.
Marlin’s wishes were to be cremated.  A gathering of family and friends will take place at a later date at Marlin’s favorite place to fish on the Yellowstone River in Montana.  His ashes will be spread there, where he enjoyed life and the outdoors. Marlin Dean Coles, the son of Don F. and Ruth B. (O’Brien) Coles, was born in Miles City, Montana on May 26, 1949 and passed away in Lincoln, on March 6, 2018, at the age of 68.
As a young boy one could find Marlin playing on the banks and fishing in the Yellowstone River – later in his youth Marlin moved with his family to Billings, Montana.

Judy Ann Kreutz

Giltner resident Judy Ann Kreutz, 77, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018, at her home in Giltner.      
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 15, at First United Methodist Church in Harvard with Pastor Travis King officiating. Burial will be in the Harvard Cemetery in Harvard.  Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Harvard. A luncheon will follow the graveside service in the church basement. Visitation is from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Volland Funeral Home.  Private condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com.  Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.
Judy was born October 9, 1940, in Hastings, to Ralph and Fern (Samuelson) Bye. She graduated from Trumbull High School and Hastings College. Judy was united in marriage to Phillip Kreutz on February 19, 1966. Judy was a teacher, devoted homemaker, and farm wife.

Joel Bean

Joel Alan Bean, a 1984 graduate of Aurora High School, died suddenly Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018 at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Joel was a registered nurse working at the Kearney Medical Center  and a 31 year National Guard member enlisting in 1987, serving in Iraq and was currently serving at the rank of 1st Sargent with the 1075 Transportation Company out of North Platte.
Joel was born March 12, 1966 at Cozad, to James L. Bean and Patricia (Coons) Bean. He attended school in Lexington until 1978 when moving to Aurora. He was on the wrestling team, football and track teams. He attended Kearney State College and Central Community College in Grand Island earning a Nursing Degree. He married Stacy Gorr on March 16, 1998 in Kearney. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church.

Betty Mabon

Betty Mabon, age 91, of Grand Island, formerly of Phillips, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at CHI Health-St. Francis in Grand Island.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 12 at the Phillips United Methodist Church. Pastor Joel Warren will officiate. Interment will be in the Phillips Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the Phillips United Methodist Church, 414 3rd Street, Phillips.  Order of the Eastern Star Phillips Chapter #204 ceremony will follow at 7:00. Memorials may be made to the Phillips United Methodist Church or the Eastern Star Phillips Chapter #204.
