Bobby Young-Mentgen

Bobby Young-Mentgen, age 68, of Bradshaw, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017, at her home.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 7 at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora.  Rev. Loren Cooper will officiate.   Inurnment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.  No Visitation.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at
Bobby Gayle Young-Mentgen, the daughter of Robert Weldon and Donna Lee (Dodge) Puffinbarger was born in Lincoln, on February 13, 1949 and passed away in Bradshaw, on October 2, 2017, at the age of 68.
Bobby was very close to receiving her doctorate in Psychology.  Bobby graduated with Masters Degrees from Peru State College, University of Nebraska-Kearney and Doane College.  She was the consummate career student.


Leanna I. Loftis

Leanna I. Loftis, 90, of Central City, died Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Litzenberg Memorial Long Term Care in Central City.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City with Pastor Nelson Rossi officiating.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, October 9.  Burial will be in the Hartington Cemetery.
Leanna Irene was born February 14, 1927 to George and Bertha (Harms) Konken in Coleridge.  Leanna grew up in Northeastern Nebraska.  She married Warren Loftis on June 4, 1951.  Leanna moved with her family to Atkinson, in the 1960’s.  In 1969 they then moved to Central City.  She worked as a cook at the West Gate Café and then Litzenberg Hospital.  She retired from Litzenberg in 1989 and remained living in Central City.
Leanna was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church in Aurora.  She enjoyed spending her time crocheting, gardening and canning.


Richard "Dick" Myers

Richard “Dick” Myers, 83, of Phillips passed away at his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, October 4, 2017.
To honor Dick’s wishes cremation has been chosen. Private family services will be held at a later date.
All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Dick was born on September 25, 1934 in Belgrade, son of Clifford and Mildred (Hughes) Myers.
Dick is survived by his wife, Esther of Phillips; sons, Ron Myers of Grand Island, Robert (Lori) Myers of Murry, IA, Randy Myers of Grand Island; stepsons, John (Grace) Arp of Omaha and Bruce (Gail) Arp of Weston; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Verna Jean; mother of his sons, Irene.


Audrey Ellen Weedin

Audrey Ellen Weedin, 86, formerly of Grand Island, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017.
A celebration of Audrey’s life will be held at the All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 10 a.m.  The Reverend Gene Arnold will officiate. To honor Audrey’s wishes cremation was chosen.
Audrey was born on January 1, 1931 on the family farm southwest of Aurora. Her parents were James Reisinger and Evelyn (Morss) Reisinger.  Audrey lived on the family farm during her early years and graduated from School District 87 in Hamilton County.  


Ruby I. Schreiber

Ruby I. Schreiber, 87, of Central City, died on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City.  Funeral services will be on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Grace Bible Fellowship in Central City with Rev. John Prettyman officiating.  Visitation will be on Monday, October 2 from 5-7 Grace Bible Fellowship.  Interment will be at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Lincoln at 2:30 p.m.  Condolences may be sent to the family at
Ruby Irene Grauerholz was born on June 25, 1930 to Carl and Martha (Henkel) Grauerholz in Kensington, KS.  Ruby grew up in Kensington and graduated from Kensington High School.  Following her graduation, Ruby and her parents moved to Columbus, where she met Paul Schreiber.  Her and Paul were united in marriage on February 19, 1950 at St. John’s Lutheran Church (Shell Creek) in Columbus.


Robert Budnick

Robert Budnick, age 82, of Hampton, passed away Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 3 at the Zion Lutheran Church north of Hampton. Rev. David Feddern will officiate. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora.

Robert Paul Budnick, the son of Paul and Norma (Heiden) Budnick was born in Hamilton County, Nebraska on Sept. 30, 1934 and passed away on Sept. 29, 2017 in Norfolk, Nebr., at the age of 82.


Erma E. Rickert

Erma E. Rickert, 98, of Aurora, (formerly of Columbus) died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
The funeral service will be Saturday, September 30, 10 a.m. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Tabitha Hospice Care.

Erma was born June 27, 1919, in Platte County, to Alois and Ernestine (Rohrich) Brix. She attended District 9 School through the eighth grade. On April 7, 1937, Erma was united in marriage to Clarence Rickert in Columbus. They farmed north of Columbus for many years. She raised chickens and sold or gave away the eggs. She loved her chickens and her cats. She remained on the farm until 2007 when she moved to Hamilton Manor in Aurora.


Martha J. Vander Tuig

 Le Mars, Iowa – Martha J. Vander Tuig, 96, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017 at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars.  The Funeral Service will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars.  Rev. Dr. Jean Ziettlow will officiate. Visitation was 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.  The family was present from 4 to 6 p.m. with a prayer service at 5 p.m.  There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the service on Monday.  Expressions of sympathy may be directed through


Roger Schoenfelder

Roger Schoenfelder, age 66, of Aurora, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at his home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, September 25 at the Presbyterian U.C.C. in Aurora.  Pastor Bruce Bradley will officiate.  Visitation and Viewing will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.  Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date. Roger William Schoenfelder, the son of Leonard William and Estella Mary (Bohr) Schoenfelder, was born in Mitchell, South Dakota on February 7, 1951 and passed away in Aurora, on September 21, 2017, at the age of 66.
He grew up and attended school in White Lake, South Dakota.  He began working on the family farm and neighboring farms at an early age.  


Mary Emma Krier

Mary Emma Krier (née Springer) passed away on July 28, surrounded by family and friends in her Lucas Valley, California home of many years. She was 94 years old..
Mary was born on March 1, 1923 in Aurora, the daughter of Edward and Emma Springer. She grew up in Aurora and later attended the University of Nebraska where she studied journalism, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1945. Shortly after graduation she moved to Denver where she joined the International News Service, writing and editing articles for newspapers across the country. Mary joined the US State Department’s Foreign Service in 1952, and was sent to Paris and Luxembourg. She returned to the US in 1954.
As a suburban single mother in the 1960’s and 70’s, Mary worked as a medical transcriptionist at Mount Zion Hospital in San Francisco for 11 years, then for 9 years as a transcriptionist in the oncology department at Petaluma Valley Hospital, finally retiring at the age of 75.
