Dewey Wheeler

Dewey Wheeler, age 81, of Aurora, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at G. I. Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 23 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Rev. Greg Reed will officiate.  Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne at 2:30 p.m.  No Visitation. Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date. Dewey E. Wheeler was born on Feb. 23, 1938 at home, at Coleridge, to Ross and Emily (Whipple) Wheeler.  He passed away on July 18, 2019 in Grand Island, at the age of 81.

Dorothy J. Ryan

Dorothy J. Ryan, 79, of Phillips, died Friday, July 12 at CHI-Health St. Francis.
 A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 22 at All Faiths Funeral Home.  Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in the Phillips Cemetery.
Dorothy was born on July 27, 1939, in Longmont, CO, to Herman and Ruth (Gifford) Hoffschneider.  She grew up in York and graduated from York Senior High.
She was united in marriage to John Ryan on Nov. 16, 1957, and moved to Phillips in 1960.  Four children were born into this union.
Dorothy was employed by Skagway for over 20 years before her retirement.  She was a member of Blessed Sacrament church, as well as volunteering for 4-H, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts.  In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, walking, and flowers.

Donald Schaffert, age 78, of Phillips, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Grand Island Lakeview.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 22 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Grand Island, 1515 S. Harrison St. Rev. Bill Pavuk will officiate. Interment will be in the Phillips Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Phillips Cemetery, Hampton American Legion Post #141 or the Plainsman Museum volunteer fund. Donald Lee Schaffert, the son of Rudolf and Christine (Miller) Schaffert was born on July 1, 1941 in Aurora, and passed away on July 16, 2019 in Grand Island, at the age of 78.

Jerald Lee Oswald, the son of Walter M. and Patricia (Dolloff) Oswald, was born at Grand Island, Nebraska, on Aug. 9, 1959, and passed away at Lincoln, Nebraska, on July 1, 2019, at the age of 59.

Dr. Kenneth Treptow, age 90, of Aurora, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at Memorial Community Care.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 8th at the United Methodist Church in Aurora.  Rev. Michelle Reed will officiate.  Interment will be in the Sunrise North Cemetery in Wahoo at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 9th.  Visitation will be from 6 - 8 P.M. Richard "Barney" Barngrover

Richard ‘Barney’ Barngrover, age 66, of Aurora, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at his home.

Richard ‘Barney’ Barngrover, the son of Boyd and Janice (Wantz) Barngrover, was born in Grand Island, on June 17, 1953 and passed away in Aurora, on June 26, 2019, at the age of 66.
He grew up in the Ainsworth and Valentine area.  Richard went on to obtain his GED.
Richard worked as a carpenter.
On Feb. 14, 1991 Richard married Sandra Kliewer at the Hamilton County Court House.  Richard worked for the City of Aurora in the Public Works department for many years.

Iona Marie (Witte) Tracy, passed away Monday, June 24, 2019 surrounded by family at the Henderson Care Center in Henderson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, June 30 at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Hampton.  Rev. David Feddern will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Council Cemetery, southeast of Bradshaw. Iona was born on Oct. 10, 1921 to Edwin and Bertha (Obermeier) Witte, on the family farm located near the Beaver Creek just south of Waco.  Iona was the first of six children, and the last one to be called Home to meet her Maker on June 24, 2019 at the age of 97.

Jacqueline J. "Jackie" Steinwart

Jacqueline J. “Jackie” Steinwart, 75, of Aurora, passed away Thursday, June 20, at her home.
Memorial service will be Tuesday, June 25 at 11 a.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home. Pastor Sara Ruch is officiating.
All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Jackie was born Jan. 12, 1944 at Vancouver, Washington to Jack and Betty (Bowker) Tridle. She grew up in North Platte. On Dec. 31, 1965 she was united in marriage to Delbert Steinwart. Jackie worked at Case New Holland until she retired in 2000.
Jackie loved to quilt and make things for others. Jackie enjoyed baking and cooking. She spent much of her time on the computer playing games. Jackie was extremely family oriented and was very proud of her grandchildren. She was an avid walker until her health began deteriorating.
