Darletta Broadway

Darletta Broadway, age 88, of Grand Island, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at her home.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26 at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora. Rev. Penny Schulz will officiate. Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery. Darletta Mae Broadway, the daughter of George and Ada (Shelton) Gimpel, was born on the family farm between Giltner and Aurora, on Aug. 30, 1931 and passed away in Grand Island, on Sept. 21, 2019, at the age of 88.
She graduated from Aurora High School in 1949.  Darletta served in the U.S. Army at Fort Benning, Georgia in 1951.

Petronella 'Nellie' McMahon

Petronella "Nellie” Leola (Bader) McMahon.  93, of Giltner, NE, died September 21, 2019 at CHI St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Grand Island, Nebraska with the Rev. James Golka officiating.  Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Giltner, Neb. Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 24 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Giltner with the family to receive friends from 5-8 p.m. with the rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.

Elaine McClellan

Elaine McClellan, guided by her heavenly angels, left this world to meet her Lord and Savior on Sept. 12, 2019.
Elaine Marguerite (Moog) McClellan was born at home in Rockville, to Edward H. and Marie C. (Hehnke) Moog on Oct. 12, 1939.  The family moved to Shelton, when Elaine was 18 months old, where she grew up and graduated from Shelton High School in 1957.  She attended the St. Francis School of Nursing, graduating in 1960, and worked at St. Francis Hospital.
On Dec. 3, 1961, she married John H. McClellan from Palmer, at the Shelton United Methodist Church, where she had been a member since joining with her family in 1946.  They lived in a farmhouse in Gage Valley by Palmer until moving to St. Paul in 1964, where they continued to make their home.

Wayne Gimpel

Wayne Gimpel, age 96, of Kimberling City, Missouri, formerly of Aurora, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at Tablerock Healthcare in Kimberling City, Missouri.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m Thursday, Sept. 19 at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora. Rev. Penny Schultz will officiate. Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery. Wayne Richard Gimpel, the son of George and Ada (Shelton) Gimpel, was born in Giltner, on Feb. 12, 1923 and passed away in Kimberling City, Missouri on Sept. 14, 2009, at the age of 96.
He grew up in Giltner and attended Giltner Public Schools.

Russell Gertsch

Russell Gertsch passed away on Sept. 11, in Park Ridge, Illinois, due to injuries from a car accident.  He was 81 years old.  A memorial service and Christian burial will be on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 10:30 a.m, at St. John’s Lutheran Church LCMS, north of Columbus, with Pastor Brad Birtell officiating the service.
Russ was born in Columbus on August 28, 1938, the youngest of eight children.  He graduated from Columbus High School in 1955, and went on to Norfolk Junior College, where he met Norma Hellbusch.  They were married on August 29, 1958. Russ joined the army was stationed in Germany, where Leon was born.  Upon being discharged from the military, the three settled back in Columbus, and Lisa arrived.  Russ decided to further his education at the University of Nebraska, so the family moved to Lincoln, where Russ graduated and began his career as a CPA/financial controller.

Beth Andreasen, age 88, of Aurora, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019, at Memorial Hospital to be with her Lord and Savior.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 14 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Rev. Ricardo Riqueza will officiate. Interment will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the St. John’s Ladies Aide. Beth Elaine (Bowlby) (Nielsen) Andreasen was born May 25, 1931 to Fern (Lytle) and Leo E. Bowlby in Garfield County.  She passed away at Aurora, on Sept. 9, 2019, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.

Deborah Christine Sweet, the daughter of Ed and Betty (Chollar) Wengler, was born in Aurora, on Jan. 16, 1959 and passed away in Aurora, on Sept. 8, 2019, at the age of 60.

Samuel Doak Bell, 86, of Stromsburg, died on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019 at Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.  Funeral services will be on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Keet Redden officiating.  Visitation will be on Thursday, Sept. 5 from 1:30 p.m. until service time. Interment will be held at the Stromsburg Cemetery.

Pauline Friesen

Pauline Marie Friesen, wife of Don, mother of three and grandmother to 13, entered the courts of her Heavenly Father on August 28, 2019, at the age of 75.
Pauline made her appearance into this world in the arms of Henry and Sarah Ratzlaff on Nov. 8, 1943.  She was one of seven children raised in a home devoted to Christ, and she herself learned to know Him personally while attending Christian Day School in Mountain Lake, Minnesota.
Upon graduation from high school, Pauline attended Grace Bible College in Omaha.  Here she met Don Friesen, the love of her life.  They married on August 28, 1964.  After a few years in the Beatrice and Lincoln area, they relocated to Henderson, where they started a business, attended church, and raised their children.

Levi Moore

Levi Moore, age 33, of Phillips, died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 25, 2019.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 6 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora.  Rev. Levi Lynn Moore, the son of Dale and Jody (Jansen) Moore, was born at Grand Island, on April 18, 1986 and passed away in Hamilton County, on August 25, 2019, at the age of 33.
Levi grew up on the family farm near Aurora.  He was home schooled and graduated from Bridgewater Academy in Pennsylvania.
Levi was married to Amber Comer on Sept. 15, 2018 at Phillips.  Levi was currently working at Grosshans International in Aurora.
