Karen Moncrief

Karen Moncrief, age 73, of Lincoln, formerly of Aurora passed away on Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, at Southlake Village Rehabilitation and Care Center.
Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 2 at the Stockham Community Church. Rev. Paul Nauman will officiate. Interment will be in the Harvard Cemetery, prior to the Memorial Service at 10 a.m. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Karen Kay Moncrief, the daughter of Wilbert Fred and Helen D. (Nelson) Klein, was born in Palmer, on March 19, 1945 and passed away in Lincoln, on Feb. 25, 2019, at the age of 73.


David Haack

David Haack, age 57, of Harvard, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 25 at the chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora.  Rev. Greg Reed will officiate. David Wayne Haack, the son of Jerry, Sr. and Phyllis (Butterbaugh) Haack, was born in Hastings, on March 27, 1961 and passed away in Hastings, on Feb. 21, 2019, at the age of 57.
David grew up in Hastings and Hampton.  He attended school in Hampton.
David married Robin Anderson on Dec. 31, 1984.  They had three children: Amanda, Theresa and Steven.  They later divorced.


Mahlon Dewane Eck

Mahlon Dewane Eck, age 85 of Henderson, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019 at Henderson. He was born August 28, 1933 to Frank A. and Susie (Johnson) Eck at Meno, Oklahoma. On April 27, 1956, he was united in marriage to Jennie Peters in Henderson. Mahlon was a lifelong farmer in Clay, York, and Hamilton Counties. He enjoyed woodworking, camping and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Mahlon is survived by his wife Jennie of Henderson, sons Nathan (Sally) Eck and Anthony Joe Eck of Henderson, daughters Joy (Frank) Steckly of Beaver Crossing, and Dawn (Marty) Meinzer of York; nine grandchildren, eight greatgrandchildren, sister-in-law Rose Eck of Tulsa, OK, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and five sisters.


Donna Lee (Gustafson) Erlenbusch

Donna L. Erlenbusch, 72 of Ashland, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Feb. 15, 2019 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Donna Lee (Gustafson) Erlenbusch, daughter of Walter and Violet (Veed) Gustafson, was born April 5, 1946 south of Marquette. She grew up in Marquette in a loving Christian family with three older brothers and two younger sisters.
She graduated from Marquette High School in 1964. She married John Erlenbusch Oct. 5, 1968. They had two children, Scott and Amy. Donna worked in various towns including Aurora, Grand Island, Omaha and St. Charles, IL, before returning to Ashland in 2000. Donna retired in 2009 when she became the sole caregiver for her husband.
Donna loved spending time with her children, granddaughter, family and her grandpups: Wiggy, Bentley, Remy and Sophie. She opened her home to everyone and was known to all as Ma.


Mary Ratzlaff

Mary Ratzlaff, age 93, of Stockham, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, at her home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 18 at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel.  Rev. Paul Nauman will officiate.  Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday evening at the mortuary.  Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date. Mary Ratzlaff, the daughter of Monico and Eloisa (Rodriquez) Montoya was born in Jensen, Colo., joining her nine siblings on March 3, 1925 and passed away in Stockham, on Feb. 13, 2019, at the age of 93.
Mary graduated high school and attended business school before working at the Unemployment office in Omaha, where she met the man she was to marry.


Robert P. Robotham

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 11th & M Street, Lincoln. Visitation will be Thursday from 1-8 p.m. at Lauber Funeral Home, Milford, with family greeting relatives and friends from 5-7 p.m. Also one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Memorials have been established and are directed in care of the family.


Leota Griess

 Sutton resident Leota Griess, 60, went to be with the Lord Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, at her home in Sutton, where she no longer has pain or suffering.
  Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at Hope Reformed Church in Sutton with Pastor Scott Henry officiating.  Interment will follow at the Sutton Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday, from 1-8 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton.
  In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hope Reformed Church or the Sutton Community Home Foundation.

Barbara Nadine Ott

Barbara Nadine Ott, 65 of rural Greenfield passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019 surrounded by family at her home.  Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Committal service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the Aurora Cemetery in Aurora.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Bethel Baptist Church.  Online condolences may be left at


Anna Marie Bowens

Anna Marie Bowens was born on Aug. 30, 1953 in Huntington, Long Island, New York. She passed away suddenly on Jan. 25, 2019 in Apache Junction, AZ. Her beloved cat Mitchell joined her 5 days later.
She was raised in Northport, Long Island, NY by loving parents. She grew up with a brother and sister.
Anna’s work experience was primarily in Arizona and Nebraska. It was a varied career from Cosmetology, Scottsdale Princess Hotel, Dillards, Nissen, Iams, Aurora Cooperative, and Hamilton Telecommunications.
Anyone who met Anna was taken with her beauty, her smile and her open, easy going way. She was, however, foremost and most importantly, an artist.
She had an eye for taking photos that were different, fresh, unique and breathtaking.


Ervin Eugene Schulze

I was born at home, Oct. 3, 1935 to Henry and Matilda (Stach) Schulze in rural Hordville, near Polk.  I was the youngest of four children born to Hank and Tillie.  Jesus called me Home on Feb. 6, 2019, at the age of 83, as I was surrounded by my family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 9 at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Hampton.  Rev. David Feddern and Pastor Loren Cooper will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Zion Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday evening at the Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family to designate at a later date.
