Mary Dikeou

Mary Dikeou, age 76, of Aurora, died Tuesday, April 28, 2008 at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
Mary will be laid to rest at New Virginia Cemetery in Webster County. A memorial service will be held later this year.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
She was the eldest child of Charlotte Mary Lambrecht Green and Walter Woodrow Green.
Mary was funny, gentle and caring. She loved her pet cats and turtles. Mary had the heart of an artist. She loved art, music, books and the classics. She will be remembered for her wonderful baking and sewing.
Mary was preceded in death by John, her husband of 41 years, parents, and brothers Walter and Carl Green.
She is survived by her sister Doris (Fred) of Glendale, Arizona, Nancy of Platte City, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ellen Ruth Simmons

Ellen Ruth Simmons, age 95 of Henderson, died Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Henderson. She was born Nov. 7, 1924 to Anton and Clara (Korbelik) Rohla in Geneva. On Jan. 27, 1950, Ruth was united in marriage to Paul Simmons in York.
Ruth was a waitress for many years, but was also a homemaker on the farm. She was a member of the Bradshaw United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Bradshaw VFW Legion Post 1450 Auxiliary, a member of the York DOES, and had been a 4-H Leader. Ruth enjoyed gardening and landscaping and loved to visit with friends and neighbors.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Mona Peterson of York, sister Marian Hardy of Peralta, NM, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, daughter Mila, son-in-law Merle Peterson, brother David (Diane) Rohla and brother-in-law Paul Hardy.

Janice Delayne Shaw

Janice Delayne Shaw, 83, of Auburn, was born on February 18, 1937 in Sioux City, Iowa to Herman “Red” and Doris (Macklem) Hirchert. She moved with her family at a young age to Chadron, where she attended school and graduated from Chadron High School. Janice was united in marriage to her high school sweet heart Robert Shaw on July 26, 1958 and to this union four sons, Ronald, Kenneth, Patrick and Robert were born. The couple raised their family in Aurora,  for many years before retiring to Arkansas. They had recently moved to Auburn, to be closer to family. Janice passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020, at her home in Auburn, having reached the earthly age of eighty-three years, two months and nine days. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother William “Bill” (Marian) Hirchert, daughter-in-law Stacey Shaw and brother-in-law Robert Armstrong.

Lois Ann (Yost) Kreutz

Lois Ann (Yost) Kreutz of Aurora, passed away on April 28, 2020 at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora at the age of 90.

Lois Ann was born August 19, 1929, on a farm near Harvard, to William J. and Anna Elizabeth (Brehm) Yost, the 6th of 7 children.

Emma Marie Auch Bedinger, the daughter of Elmer and Marie (Gosselin) Burnison, was born in Sturgis, South Dakota on Dec. 17, 1931 and passed away on April 24, 2020 at the age of 88.

Duane W. Lenz

Duane W. Lenz, 95, of Lincoln, passed away April 21, 2020. Born March 25, 1925 in Elmwood, to Walter H. and Annette C. (Eikerman) Lenz.
Duane was a graduate of Eustis High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Westmar University in Le Mars, IA and his master’s from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, Evanston, IL. During his seminary he served a church in Gillingham, WI.
Duane served as United Methodist Churches in Crofton, De Bois, Orchard, Kearney (Faith), Aurora, Sidney, Lincoln (Warren) and Southeast Nebraska District Superintendent. He retired in 1991 after 47 years in the ministry.
Duane served on multiple church boards and committees.
Duane was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, former member of Northeast Kiwanis, Cornhusker Kiwanis and Senior Community Chorus.
Duane was creative, caring, loving and kind. He had many hobbies such as wood carving and stained glass before and after retirement.

Robert Lee Moellenberndt, the son of Walter and Helen (Struckman) Moellenberndt, was born in Western, on July 18, 1933 and passed away on April 22, 2020 at the age of 86.
Bob grew up and attended school in Fairbury until the 11th grade.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  Bob was honorably discharged on July 12, 1956.  Bob received his diploma during a Veteran’s Day Program at Aurora High School.
