Roe Answers Challenge

Roe Chevrolet employee Todd Jensen answered an ice-bucket challenge from his friend Tyler Snyder for ALS Awareness Thursday afternoon. Before he was drenched by Chawntiel Green, Roe Chevrolet donated $100 to an ALS foundation and Jensen challenged other GM dealerships to the challenge. County’s valuation up 27.3%

The valuation of property in Hamilton County rose by more than 20 percent for the second consecutive year, with the 2014 total adding up, officially, to $2.82 billion.
That’s an increase of $603.24 million, or 27.3 percent, over last year’s record total. The 2013 valuation came in a $2.21 billion, a 21.2 percent increase over the previous year.

City council begins budget review

City officials began a detailed review last week of the 2015 budget with a goal of paying back enterprise funds depleted last year to help pay for the new aquatic center.
City administrator Marlan Ferguson offered a broad overview of the preliminary department by department proposals, as well as some of the factors council members will have to consider before adopting the final budget.

New director of Bremer Center looks to improve facility

The Bremer Community Center is under new command as Monica Crowe has been named as director.
Crowe takes over for Lisa Beed as director of the community-based activities center.
Before she came to Aurora, Crowe was the executive director of the Furnas-Harlan Partnership, an economic development group for Furnas and Harlan counties.
