Test Nebraska begins Aurora visits

The East Park Villa parking lot became a local test site for COVID-19 last week, the first of several weekly opportunities for local residents to get tested here in Aurora.
The Central District Health Department announced last week that Memorial Community Health in Aurora had contracted to work with the Test Nebraska program to provide local testing. Approximately 40 people were tested in a two-hour period July 22. All were approved in advance for the procedure and received their results within 72 hours.
Paula Johnson, co-publisher of the Aurora News-Register, was one of the test participants last week, explaining that she signed up hoping to answer questions others may have.
“We’ve never really done a story on the actual testing and I wanted to know what it felt like, how much it costs, what the procedure was, how hard it was to get and different things like that,” she explained. “I didn’t do it because I had symptoms. I wanted to do it because I had questions about how hard the procedure would be.”
