CFAP offers agricultural assistance during pandemic

As many businesses and organizations struggle to stay afloat due to shutdowns caused by COVID-19, a new program has been implemented to help the agricultural community regain stability.
Bobbie KrizWickham with the Farm Service Agency (FSA) explained that the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) was created as part of the CARES Act earlier this year.
“Through CFAP, USDA is making $16 billion available to farmers and ranchers across the nation whose operations have been negatively impacted by the coronavirus pandemic,” she said. “There are four broad categories of eligible commodities for the program, including non-specialty crops, livestock, dairy and specialty crops.”
