Letter to editor: All should wear a mask at the grocery store

Dear Editor:
As an older person who is anxious to be able to get back to an active routine with friends, I have tried to follow the governor’s guidelines of social distancing, shopping at the grocery once a week and wearing a mask when doing so. With that in mind, I was disheartened at the behavior I witnessed in the local grocery store Thursday afternoon.
Usually I shop in the early morning or late evening hours when there aren’t many people at the store. However, I went at 4:30 in the afternoon due to being overcharged on some items and wanting to get that taken care of. It was a huge mistake. Most people were NOT wearing masks, and a number of them had their children with them ... behaviors that our governor urged us to NOT choose to do. Those who were wearing masks were those of my age group and older, and the staff at the store.
I want to live a long, healthy life and get back to not being isolated from the ones I love. We MUST work together to have that happen for ALL of us. Restrictions can be lifted when we give up some freedoms in the immediate time for a great future.
The future we want is in our hands. It just depends on how we deal with it. Let’s work together to get back to the good times before this virus attacked our country.
Sincerely,
Bonnie J. Campbell

Dear Editor:
I would like to send a big shout out to the men and women of the Aurora Fire Department who came to our place Tuesday afternoon (April 21) to contain a fire that took a building at our place! Great Job!

With gratitude,
