‘Unchartered waters’

Hampton Public Schools opened the book on a new educational chapter last week, connecting teachers with students remotely in response to the growing coronavirus threat.
Supt. Holly Herzberg said the goal is to keep students engaged while following state-mandated social distancing protocol, realizing this is new, unchartered territory for everyone involved.
“We’ve had very positive initial feedback from students and families and probably the most rewarding thing is being able to see the kids’ faces and actually interact with our students,” Herzberg said in a Friday phone interview. “As a district leader, it’s been amazing to see how our community has responded. At times of crisis and challenge, this is how Hamilton County, Hampton and Nebraska does things. There have been many tears of appreciation the last few days and just feeling like this is a special place to live and be.”
