Local businesses and community-based organizations are doing their best to provide service during these challenging times.

Driven by necessary coronavirus social distancing protocols, schedules and services have changed. The News-Register will continue posting timely updates on its website and social media accounts. As of Monday, the list below reflects current operations on several fronts:
The Aurora Mall  is offering a special delivery service hoping to help elderly and immune-suppressed local residents during these trying times. Volunteers are ready to take your orders and deliver Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To place your orders, call 402-694-6121 or email auroramall@hamilton.net. Subway and the Aurora Mall Deli remain open.
The Hamilton County Courthouse will be closed to the public until further notice. The Hamilton County Board would like to encourage all citizens to call the various offices/departments before coming into the courthouse on business and urge citizens to take full advantage of the many online services available, including vehicle registration renewals, tax payments, voter registration, and payment of fines. Those with questions are invited to call respective departments. There is also a secure drop-box for payments and files located in the hallway near the public restrooms.
Aurora City Hall -- Closed to daily traffic, though citizens are invited to place sewer and water bill payments in the drop box or call 402-694-6992 with any service questions.
The Leadership Center in Aurora is closed to the public until further notice. It’s “Meals Out the Door” service is continuing, with curbside or delivery options (delivery is free anywhere in Hamilton County). For menus and more information please visit the website, or call with questions. From a community viewpoint, TLC will be offering “Coffee & Chats” Monday through Friday via Zoom. Visit http://tlcaurora.org/2020/03/coffee-chat/ for more information. Zoom coffee chats for agriculture education teachers are also available at 3 p.m. Monday-Friday. More events and their details will follow.
The Hamilton County Senior Center is closed until further notice. Meal options include home-delivered or drive-thru at the Senior Center. Those who want a meal are asked to call by 9 a.m. the day they plan to eat. Contact the center with questions.
The Alice Farr Library in Aurora is closed to the public as of Monday, though patrons may call in or email requests for books, which will be placed in plastic bags and left by the east parking lot door. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday thru Friday.
Hamilton County Food Pantry -- Until further notice, clients will not be allowed in the Food Pantry. They are instructed to stay in their vehicle, where a volunteer will meet them. A sack of food for the household will be brought to a table in the garage, and a voucher will be attached to the sack. Then a volunteer will signal to come pick up the groceries. There will be special consideration for deliveries if needed. They will maintain their regular hours.
Plainsman Museum -- Closed until further notice.
Backpack Program -- The Aurora backpack program that provides meals to area families through the schools will continue. Bags containing breakfast, a meal and snack for each family member will be delivered to homes. For those interested in volunteering or donating needed food contact Pat Pickering at 402-694-5495; Shelly Maul, 402-694-8968 or the PUCC, 402-694-2254. For families that are in need of assistance, contact the Aurora Elementary School or Giltner Public School respectively.
Bremer Center -- Closed until further notice.
Edgerton Explorit Center -- Closed to the public until further notice. Will be re-evauluated weekly.
Pump & Pantry -- The store will remain open with a change of hours, 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

AREA RESTAURANTS/BARS
Arby’s/Loves -- Arby’s dining room is closed; drive-thru and takeout orders available; Love’s remains open to the public.
Banana Rams -- Closed until further notice.
Chuck’s 2.0 -- The drive-thru is open, dining room is closed. Normal hours, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with delivery service available.
Giltner Bar & Grill -- The restaurant will be closed until further notice.
Grandview Cafe dining room is open, seating is limited to 10 people at a time. Hours are normal, continuing to do carryout, curbside and delivery orders. Check their Facebook page for regular updates.
Hampton C-Store -- The dining area is open to 10 people at a time. For those who feel ill or do not want to enter the store, there is curbside delivery.
Jojo’s Gelato -- The dining area is currently closed. They are offering drive-thru, on-line ordering and in-town delivery.
Makers & Bakers -- Encouraging takeout orders with normal hours. Staying at 10 people rule and mobile ordering available.
McDonalds hours remain the same. Drive-through will be open, dining room is closed.
Mitchell’s Recreation -- Open as usual.
Pizza Hut -- Dining room closed, open for carryout and delivery. Can place orders online or by phone. Hours to remain the same.
Pueblo Viejo -- Dining room open, with 10-person limit, takeout available. Hours vary.
Rath’s Cafe -- The dining area is open to 10 people at a time. They will be offering carry-out orders as well.
Runza will be keeping winter hours 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Drive through will be open, dining room is closed.
Scotty’s -- The dining room is closed.
Sit-N-Bull -- The dining area features limited seating. Carry-out and curb side pick-up available.
