Expansion planned for EMS quarters

The Aurora City Council took a step toward authorizing construction of a fire barn facility expansion last week, seeking a cost estimate on a proposed 4,080 sq. ft. addition to provide new living quarters for the city’s fire-based EMS crew.
Council members voted unanimously to have JEO Consulting prepare a detailed scope of services as well as a more finalized review of the project. Steve Parr with JEO outlined details of a rough-draft proposal during the Feb. 11 council meeting, offering a preliminary estimate of $140-165 per sq. ft., based on recent projects and current bidding conditions. Based on those preliminary estimates, the cost of the project could fall in the $571,000-$673,000 price range.
