‘Lone Survivor’ says upbringing, SEAL training saved life

A Navy SEAL who endured a three-hour gunfight in Afghanistan and emerged as the “Lone Survivor” shared his heroic tale in Grand Island last week, turning the tables to thank every veteran in the crowd.
“To all you Vietnam veterans out there, welcome home,” Marcus Luttrell began as one of the keynote speakers at the Aurora Cooperative’s annual meeting. “I truly don’t have the vocabulary to tell you how special you are to me and the life you granted to me.”
