Dennis Ross, age 69, of Lincoln, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020, at his home after a long battle with MS.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18 at the Southern Heights Presbyterian Church, 5750 South 40th, Lincoln.  Rev.  Leanne Masters will officiate.  Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Aurora Cemetery in Aurora.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at Southern Heights Presbyterian Church in Lincoln.  Memorials may be made to Children’s Hospital/Rehab Department - Omaha, Nebraska.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Dennis LaVerne Ross, the son of Floyd H. and Verna M. (Cady) Ross, was born in Hastings, on July 13, 1950 and passed away in Lincoln, on Feb. 13, 2020, at the age of 69.
Dennis grew up on the George Ross Family Farm northeast of Eldorado.  He attended school at Harvard Public Schools in Harvard and graduated in 1968.  After graduation he had one year training at the Medical Institute of Colorado.  He worked as a laboratory assistant at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.  In March 1970, Dennis was drafted into the U.S. Army.  In 1971, he was stationed in Vietnam for one year.  Dennis was honorably discharged from the Service in 1976.  He resumed working at Memorial Hospital after his discharge and continued there until 1983, when he developed Multiple Sclerosis and was no longer able to work.  At that time, Dennis was living in Grand Island and in 1990 he moved to Lincoln, into a handicapped home that was built for him and that is where he remained for the rest of his life.  In 1998, Dennis began receiving home health services.
Dennis was funny, witty and always had the best attitude towards his disease.  He loved children but was unable to have any of his own.
Preceding him in death are his father and mother, Floyd and Verna (Cady) Ross, his brother, Kevin Ross and nephew, Adam Shaffer, 1st husband of Amanda Kinney.
Survived by his brother, Terry and Judith (Nuss) Ross of Aurora; sister-in-law, Donna (Nuss) Ross of Aurora; three nieces, Tabitha (Ross) and Scott Buchholz, Jr. of Omaha, Amanda (Ross, Shaffer) and Daniel Kinney of Stockham, and Sarah (Ross) and Ryan Wilson of Loveland, Colorado; nephew, Seth and Taylor (Happold) Ross of Giltner; four great-nieces, Grace Buchholz of Omaha, Jadlynne and Marah Kinney of Stockham, and Skylar Wilson of Wellington, Colorado; one great-nephew, Avett Ross of Giltner; aunt, Mary Lou Ferebee of Imperial and many cousins and friends.
